In the vastness of space, akin to an ocean, the Interstellar Vessel from Earth Spring City resembled a solitary boat, bobbing amidst the occasional waves of a great sea. At the same time and in the same expanse, countless other boats of various shapes and purposes from different planets and nations were also jostling about in this boundless ocean, each with its own intentions.
As they journeyed midway, a delicate Porcelain Doll suddenly appeared. Amusingly, upon encountering a large group of strangers, this Porcelain Doll, after an initial bout of shyness, adopted an innocent and pitiful expression that could melt hearts. With a pout, she spoke softly like a gentle spring breeze in May, "Um, do you have any food? I'm really hungry."
Tong Bailong, breaking from his usual demeanor, generously handed some food to Jufeng. Romain looked at the food in his hands and then at the exquisite girl standing at the door. It took him a moment to regain his composure. Seeing the girl's lake-blue eyes sparkling with desire made him surrender; all his earlier calculations melted away.
"Come sit on the bed; it's easy to catch a chill with bare feet."
"Okay!" The girl exclaimed joyfully, nodding repeatedly like a chick pecking at grains. She bounced over to the bed as if she had transformed from a shy bride under a red veil into an exuberant young lady ready to ride forth. Romain smiled silently and handed her several bags of marinated meat and sweet bread, instantly creating a version of Tong Bailong.
However, the visual impact of a beast was incomparable; the girl devoured her food like a general on the battlefield, much to the delight of the others in the room.
Flower Snow Moon was the first to snap out of her astonishment at the girl's voraciousness. She carefully walked to the door and discreetly stepped outside to check for any followers or spies. Once assured there was no one tailing them, she returned to ponder over this mysterious girl.
Undoubtedly, she was the one that officer had been anxiously searching for in the restaurant. They had felt a sudden rustling beneath their table just seconds before that officer arrived. Under Romain's signal, they remained calm and pretended everything was normal. Romain had waited for everyone in the restaurant to leave before departing himself, helping to cover for that unknown creature beneath their table. Little did he expect that this person he had gone through so much trouble for would turn out to be such an ethereal girl.
The five men and one woman stared wide-eyed as they watched the girl sweep away her food like a whirlwind. Romain thoughtfully handed her a bottle of water and some napkins. Once she finished tidying up, she sat up straight and began examining the room's decor and her six kind-hearted companions.
Without warning, just as Romain was about to ask about her background, that enchanting voice echoed again in the room, delivering content that left everyone stunned.
“Daddy, you are Daddy.”
There were five males in the room, but it was clear that the girl was addressing Jufeng. Although she hesitated for a moment while looking at Tong Bailong's towering figure, when she finally declared her statement with conviction, her transparent eyes were fixed directly on Romain. Before anyone could react further, she broke into a radiant smile that was pure as misty rain, instantly warming Romain's heart.
Romain felt slightly dazed; he momentarily forgot to refute her claim until he became acutely aware of the burning gazes from the other five men around him. He awkwardly cleared his throat.
“You call me Daddy?”
“Mm-hmm.” The girl replied with utmost certainty and seriousness as if she had just established Romain's image as a reckless playboy with numerous romantic entanglements.
However, Romain inwardly lamented; if this truly were a product of his wild nights out, he might have been pleased since the girl was undeniably adorable and endearing. But alas! His only remaining pride was his unwavering self-control. Throughout his life—from Yanhuang City to Hua Country Campus—he had admired many beautiful women from afar but had never truly indulged in any of them. Even his recent relationship with Lu Qijia could barely be considered his first love; it consisted only of holding hands and an occasional peck—not even reaching deep kisses—so how could there possibly be a child?
Romain was utterly confused as he glanced at Civilization and Politeness beside him. Civilization maintained a skeptical demeanor but did not fully believe it; however, Politeness's expression was particularly off—seemingly saying, “You’re only around twenty years old; how could this child be six or seven? Just how precocious are you? How many cabbages have you plowed through?”
Romain felt inexplicably angry and kicked Politeness without hesitation. Politeness was too busy marveling in envy to dodge in time and ended up sprawling onto another large bed behind him.
Jufeng cleared his throat, facing the Porcelain Doll with a tone that lacked any questioning edge. He could only guide her gently, slowly coaxing her.
"What... did you just call yourself?"
The girl seemed eager to talk to Jufeng, her eyes fixed on him without wavering. Her childish lips curled into a smile, revealing a set of pearly white teeth as she replied in a clear, youthful voice.
"My name is Chuyang, Chuyang."
"Microbirth?" Jufeng frowned slightly. "But my last name is Ju. Are you taking your mother's surname?"
"Mother?" The girl appeared unfamiliar with the term. After pondering for a moment, she came up empty.
"I don't have a mother; I only have a father. You are my father."
The girl's unwavering conviction caused Jufeng's heart to waver. Could it be that he had unwittingly become someone else's breeding stallion? Who could have foreseen this?
"Cough, cough." Jufeng dismissed that narcissistic thought and prepared to ask the girl some other questions. However, she looked ready to cry and said she was tired, asking if her father could stay and chat with Chuyang.
Jufeng was taken aback and had no choice but to abandon his line of questioning. He felt uncertain about whether it was right to shelter this child from the military, but since he had already taken that step, he had to see it through. His intuition told him that anyone who could make those officers so cautious must have significant connections.
Facing the upcoming battle against the Unification Alliance was not going to be simple; it required substantial moves and strong networks. Thus, Jufeng had selfishly considered utilizing all available resources. However, after meeting Chuyang, he temporarily set aside that idea. If things became too complicated, he could always send the girl back.
Jufeng tucked the girl into bed, but she clung tightly to him, insisting that he stay with her while she slept. After some negotiation yielded no results, Jufeng reluctantly lay down beside her.
The others had long since recovered from their initial shock and could tell from Jufeng's expression that this child was certainly not his own. They wondered where she had come from as Politeness rubbed his backside and remarked on Jufeng's good fortune.
Later, the group went to the restaurant for a meal but returned with an abundance of fast food. Once the girl finished eating in their room, Jufeng began another round of inquiries, but the answers were far from what he expected.
When he asked Chuyang where her home was, she didn't know; when he asked how she ended up on this aircraft, she didn't know; when he inquired why those military officers were looking for her, Sister Ni burst into tears. She explained that when she woke up, she saw a group of people dressed like her who looked fierce and threatening—they tried to capture her. In a panic, she escaped and took a piece of clothing with her. It seemed Sister Ni sensed Jufeng's intent to send her back; her tear-filled azure eyes pleaded with him not to abandon her. Unable to bear it any longer, Jufeng agreed, prompting Chuyang to break into a radiant smile.
Civilization chimed in with an apt saying: "The traces of tears still linger; naturally, smiles will bloom," which made Politeness mumble in response.
For the next few hours, Chuyang stayed close to Jufeng. He wanted to learn more about her, but it appeared that Chuyang had lost her memory and couldn't recall anything at all. Thus, Jufeng had no choice but to drop the matter.
During his time as a makeshift caregiver, Jufeng naturally took on the girl's daily needs, including bathing and combing her hair. When Chuyang arrived, she wore nothing but that military uniform, which piqued Jufeng's curiosity about her situation even more. He found a shirt and a pair of leggings for Chuyang from Flower Snow Moon; the leggings were cut short for convenience. As for underwear, there was no way to procure any until they landed safely off the aircraft.
Fortunately, the girl had short purple hair, which saved Jufeng the trouble of seeking apprenticeship from Flower Snow Moon.
In the following days, the entire spacecraft was frantically searching for the girl. However, Jufeng and the others hid very well, so even during several room inspections, there were no oversights.
Traveling from Earth to an inconspicuous planet in the Magellan Star System, they made a total of seven stops, with one spatial leap in between. This was similar to a barrier between star systems, often carrying a very low risk, much like the airplane accidents on Earth two hundred years ago.
During the landing security check, Chuyang was unfortunately treated as a package and concealed behind Tong Bailong's back. Everything went smoothly. In the transfer station's mall on the planet, Jufeng helped Chuyang buy quite a few things. After spending these days together, Jufeng seemed to have truly gotten used to being called "Dad" by a girl named Chuyang.
Jufeng thought to himself that it would be wonderful if he could have such a delicate Porcelain Doll with Jia'er in the future.
After a brief stay, Jufeng boarded a small private spacecraft heading to the planet where Yanhuang City was located. After paying a considerable fee, they began another segment of their space journey.
