Exercise comes in many forms, some intense, some gentle, and even static ones like Meditation, which can be considered a unique form of exercise to some extent. Except for a few types like Meditation, almost all exercises have a singular outcome—an outward release of sweat and an inward liberation of the soul. This is what is meant by the saying that all paths lead to the same destination.
One enchanting night, one night of dreams, in the coastal city of Mingsai Huan, it seemed as if spring had arrived overnight. The Morning Light, obeying the gossip of the Moon Maiden from the previous night, hurried into the Azure Waterside room at dawn to investigate. It was still that familiar passage—the gap in the Drapery. As soon as Morning Light entered, it covered its face and blushed with a soft glow.
On the bed, the silk quilt lay in disarray, covering two young people who had just met. They must have been quite exhausted from their journey through Wushan last night, for they slept exceptionally peacefully now. Their legs intertwined stubbornly, with subtle color differences intermingling to create a tempting scene. Suddenly, a delicate limb, as creamy as snow, gently bent. A slender finger scratched an itch on smooth skin in a dreamlike manner; after a few touches, she fell back into deep slumber.
Morning Light departed quickly because there were more places in this world that needed its illumination. However, its departure brought light to this room; it became warmer and clearer, and within it, a pair of eyes grew increasingly bright and gentle.
Jufeng had been awake for quite some time but did not move an inch. He naturally noticed Lu Qijia's adorable movements in her sleep; had he not feared waking her, he would have already kissed her affectionately. Many would shy away from Lu Qijia's dignified and elegant appearance; after all, not every man can confidently handle someone resembling a queen. But as Jufeng got to know her better, he saw a side that was hard for outsiders to glimpse. Beneath Jia'er’s royal attire was simply a girl at heart.
Bathed in morning light, Lu Qijia's face no longer bore the confusion of last night; her brows relaxed and her lips curled into a smile, radiating warmth and charm.
After a while, sensing the gaze upon her, Lu Qijia slowly opened her sleepy eyes. The weariness between her brows added an alluring touch to her awakening beauty.
Not overly seductive yet captivating—that was the most soul-stirring kind of beauty.
"Awake?"
At this moment, such seemingly trivial words felt like the best conversation starter.
Lu Qijia smiled sweetly and nodded slightly. She emerged from the quilt with her delicate fingers and arms like lotus roots and wrapped them around Jufeng's neck. She leaned in to kiss his lips—brief yet warm without being overly passionate.
"This feels wonderful; waking up to see you every morning makes me wish every day could be like this."
Jufeng raised his right hand to gently caress Lu Qijia's face. For those in love, their eyes held only each other; in the eyes of lovers, what did even the most beautiful woman matter?
"I have no issues at all; I'm just worried about Jia'er not being able to handle it. I wonder who begged for mercy first last night."
Jufeng's eyes sparkled with amusement as Lu Qijia was hit right in her vulnerable spot, causing her cheeks to flush a deep crimson that extended all the way to her pristine neck. Even the two rounded curves on her chest seemed to blush in response.
"How annoying! You take advantage of me and then bully me. Hmph! Anyway, I'm already yours. If you dare to betray me in the future, I will... I will... get my sisters to help me take revenge on you. Did you hear that? You better not let me down."
Jufeng looked at Lu Qijia's pouting lips and feigned a stern demeanor, but couldn't help pulling the beautiful girl into his embrace. There were no promises made, yet Lu Qijia felt as if she had received the most satisfying vow in her heart.
After indulging in each other's warmth for a while, Jufeng and Lu Qijia finally made their way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. Jufeng was known for his excellent cooking skills, but strangely enough, there was an unfamiliar woman in the living room on the first floor, exuding an odd aura. After receiving Jufeng's nonchalant assurance, Lu Qijia decided not to think too much about it.
Before long, Jiang Xue must have caught a whiff of the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen because she stumbled out, rubbing her sleepy eyes and dragging her cartoon slippers along the floor. Upon seeing Jufeng and Lu Qijia in the kitchen, she froze for a moment before letting out a startled scream and quickly retreating back to her bedroom.
It turned out she was wearing a nightgown similar to what Lu Qijia had on, which was usually fine since there were no outsiders around. However, Jufeng's sudden appearance was indeed unexpected. When Jiang Xue emerged from her room again, she had changed into a fresh shirt and shorts.
"Brother Jufeng! When did you come back? Why didn't you let me know? You almost made me expose myself this early in the morning!"
Jiang Xue sat down beside Lu Qijia, linking arms with her as she grabbed a piece of bread from the table and began munching on it. One couldn't help but notice how distinctively different the mechanical beauty was.
As Jufeng served the two beautiful women, he replied to Jiang Xue, "I came back last night. You were already asleep, so I didn’t want to disturb you. Don't worry; Brother Jufeng is under strict orders from his wife. You can't agree to anything with Sister Dai."
Jiang Xue automatically ignored the latter part of his statement as she pondered over what he meant by coming back last night. Suddenly, she turned her head and stared at Lu Qijia with wide eyes of astonishment, gradually letting her gaze drift downward, which caused Jufeng to burst into laughter while Jia'er felt utterly embarrassed.
"Hey Sister Ni! What are you looking at?"
Jiang Xue chuckled foolishly as she tried to play it off. "It's nothing! I was just thinking that Sister Dai is truly exceptional; everything comes first among sisters."
The three of them were playfully bantering in the kitchen while Zhu Yao sat quietly downstairs. Lu Qijia suddenly remembered that she should send some breakfast down to Zhu Yao but was directly declined by the icy beauty.
Only then did Jiang Xue notice there was someone downstairs. Just like how Lu Qijia looked at Jufeng, Jiang Xue shifted her gaze toward Lu Qijia and received a reassuring nod before promptly deciding not to ask any further questions.
The benefit of a wise person is that they never ask too many questions when they shouldn't; a single glance is enough.
As dinner progressed, a sudden knock on the door interrupted the moment. Zhu Yao stood up to open it, revealing two familiar faces: Chuyang and Liu Xing, who had returned with Jufeng the previous night.
The moment the two children appeared, Lu Qijia and Jiang Xue's eyes lit up, and they hurried down the stairs to greet them.
However, what puzzled them was the not-so-friendly gaze of the purple-haired Blue Eyes girl directed at them, which concealed an underlying meaning.
It felt slightly sour, slightly cold, and somewhat distant. The two women exchanged glances, and their eyes conveyed the same answer.
That was jealousy.
