The sun blazed overhead, casting its rays upon the earth, while Cosmos stood in focus.
Once again, I found myself in a realm surrounded by the starry sky, drifting through a space where time and reality faded away. Even after experiencing the vastness of the universe countless times, I still found myself captivated and lingering.
It was still Bill's spacecraft, but it had undergone armed modifications by Jinhai Industries. Now it met absolute military specifications. If it weren't for the connections with the military of Jufeng, it would have been difficult to venture beyond Earth.
Several days had passed since we embarked on our interstellar journey. If there were such a thing as absolute leisure in this world, then this somewhat lengthy voyage was the perfect choice. Laziness, relaxation, and enjoyment were the main themes of our journey.
Since everyone aboard the spacecraft was familiar, even if we encountered danger along the way, it was not something that could be swayed by individual strength—especially not by someone like Zhu Yao, whose personal power could hardly influence the larger picture. Thus, since boarding the spacecraft, Zhu Yao had spent most of her time locked away in her room, gazing at the starry sky all day long. It was a form of self-care, but Jufeng understood that this calm sea of emotions within Sister Ni had already been stirred up by the arrival of one person.
The matters between men and women were indeed one of the most challenging sciences in existence; even someone as adept as Wu could only find himself at a loss in such situations.
In fact, I could relate to this; if it hadn't been for Jia'er taking the initiative back then, I might never have encountered such a remarkable person in this lifetime.
"What are you thinking about?"
Lu Qijia had just come from her sister's side. Upon entering the room, she noticed Jufeng lying on the bed, staring out at the starry sky, completely unaware of her entrance. She quietly approached the bedside and squatted down to ask softly.
Hearing her voice, Jufeng turned his head. The delicate features of Lu Qijia came into view. Their eyes met, and he gently pecked her lips before sitting up and inviting Jia'er onto the bed with a soft smile.
"I was thinking... should I have Jia'er give me a pair of twins? Or maybe triplets? Or perhaps just one hand—more people make for more fun."
Jufeng chuckled mischievously. Lu Qijia shot him an exasperated glance and said playfully, "You’re so unserious. Enough joking around; I need to talk to you about something."
Noticing that Lu Qijia was unusually serious, Jufeng reined in his playful demeanor and gently pulled his lover into his embrace. "What does Jia'er want to discuss?"
Nestled against Jufeng's chest, Lu Qijia said, "You know that my sister and I will be graduating from our undergraduate studies in two years. Second Sister is studying economics; she mentioned wanting to investigate the rise of Zongheng Express for her thesis. Do you think we could provide some assistance to her?"
Jufeng was taken aback by his lover's words; he hadn't expected Second Sister to show interest in his company. However, after a moment of thought, he understood the reason behind it. Zongheng Express had emerged like a comet in recent years, becoming an incredibly hot enterprise. In just over half a year, it had gained the capability to challenge established giants, particularly in its battles against Equivor and the Incorvaia District subsidiaries, which were talked about with admiration for their bloodless victories.
Of course, the behind-the-scenes tactics were not something to be publicly disclosed.
Seeing Jufeng lost in thought, Lu Qijia worried that her unsolicited suggestion had put him in a difficult position. She quickly explained, "Wind, I didn't mean anything else; I just wanted to help my sisters since we're all family. Liu Hengying hasn't mentioned anything to me, and I don't want Second Sister to feel like she's getting special treatment. Is that asking too much?"
As Lu Qijia spoke, her voice grew softer and more melancholic. Jufeng couldn't help but smile at her adorable demeanor and gently brushed his finger across the tip of her nose, saying affectionately, "How could I not understand Jia'er’s intentions? Jia'er wants to do something for her sisters without them noticing. My Jia'er is so thoughtful for her sisters; as your husband, I will surely help fulfill this wish."
When Lu Qijia heard Jufeng's agreement, joy lit up her face. However, she quickly caught a slip in his words and playfully scolded him, "We're not married yet; who are you calling your husband?"
Jufeng hadn’t expected Lu Qijia to be so perceptive even in her moment of disappointment. He feigned indignation and replied, "I have proposed!"
Lu Qijia laughed charmingly as she slipped away from Jufeng's "clutches," teasingly saying, "That makes you my fiancé at most."
With that, the proud beauty left the room, leaving Jufeng looking somewhat dejected.
According to the time, it should have been dinner. People continued to stream out together. Tong Bailong was undoubtedly the first to emerge; he practically lived in the restaurant. Occasionally, he would spar with Liu Xing and Sparring, creating quite a lively atmosphere as they passed the time.
When Jufeng stepped out, Sister Five, Zhu Yao, and Claudia were already at the restaurant, filling a table with feminine energy.
During dinner, they split into two tables—not due to status or wealth but simply because there were too many people to sit together without wasting food. Although Jufeng wasn't particularly frugal, he preferred to avoid such unnecessary waste.
At one table filled with women, Jufeng was the only male presence. The other table consisted of Bill, Tong Bailong, Liu Xing, and several members of Azure Wind Antelope led by the newly appointed vice-captain Gou Hongbo, who had performed outstandingly during the concert night.
Chuyang and Lu Qijia sat on either side of Jufeng as they ate in relative silence. Zhu Yao was naturally quiet; Claudia felt somewhat awkward due to her status and spoke little after boarding the aircraft. Second Sister and Eldest Sister also contributed few words; occasionally exchanging remarks with Sister Xue.
Midway through dinner, Jufeng suddenly addressed Claudia, who had been overlooked until now: "Miss Rhys, when we reach Magellanic Star, I’ll leave Sister Five’s imaging project in your hands. If you need any manpower or resources, just let me know directly—I will fully support you."
Jufeng paused for a moment, then turned to Lu Qijia beside him and continued, "When you have some free time, you can communicate more with Jia'er. She has been handling the promotions and has some experience."
Lu Qijia, seeing that her partner had introduced her, naturally played along and smiled sweetly. "Miss Rhys, I heard that you used to work in Senior Management at Equivor. You must be a business elite. I'm not very knowledgeable about business matters, but we should definitely chat when we have time. If you're not busy after dinner, why not come to my room?"
Claudia was taken aback when Jufeng mentioned her. She had always felt somewhat out of place sitting there, especially with Romain's official girlfriend beside her. Suddenly being given a task by Romain made her wonder about his intentions.
Feeling confused, she still managed to put on a professional smile and agreed. Meanwhile, Liu Hengying, sitting two seats away, suddenly became interested and chimed in, "Sister Riss is from Equivor's Senior Management? It seems Wind has indeed put a lot of thought into the company."
Having graduated from Financial University and currently researching the rise of Zongheng Express, she was aware of how Equivor and Incor had suppressed Zongheng Express. She hadn't expected to see someone like Claudia here and began to connect the dots regarding the strange bankruptcies of both companies.
Liu Hengying's realization left Claudia unsure of how to respond; some things were hard to articulate. Fortunately, Jufeng redirected the conversation.
"Since Second Sister is interested, you should take the time to have a good chat with Miss Rhys. I’ve paid quite a price for this."
Jufeng's explanation held different meanings for different listeners. Second Sister assumed he had lured Claudia away with money, while Claudia and Zhu Yao understood just how intimate that hotel scene had been.
Zhu Yao felt her cheeks flush slightly but maintained her composure. Claudia could only smile to mask her own embarrassment while secretly rolling her eyes at Romain.
Jufeng pretended not to notice and continued speaking to Second Sister. "By the way, Second Sister, I remember you studied economics, right? You should be graduating soon."
Among Sister Five, Eldest Sister was the quietest and least interested in Jufeng. However, Second Sister might not have been talkative but certainly understood humor, much like Civilization.
Jufeng's words trailed off, leaving Second Sister with endless possibilities for interpretation. She laughed lightly and said, "Yes, once I prepare my thesis this semester, I can start practicing. So, are you planning to hire me?"
Jufeng smiled back. "Hire you? You're being too formal! We're all family here. For Jia'er’s sake alone, you should help out without charge. Washing City’s finance program is one of the best in the country; why not write your thesis on my ventures? I wouldn’t trust anyone else with it—having Second Sister on board means it will surely be well-written."
Jufeng's words carried significant weight; outsiders might think he was shamelessly bold, but Sister Dai knew he was fulfilling Second Sister's wishes. She felt touched by Romain's playful wink as he sought praise and responded with a gentle smile.
Sure enough, when Second Sister heard Jufeng, her face suddenly lit up with color as she asked, "Are you really considering this?"
"Of course! What a great promotional opportunity, and since it's family, I feel at ease."
Second Sister pretended to ponder for a moment before agreeing wholeheartedly, feeling that her appetite had improved significantly.
Sister had been listening to their business talk, which was somewhat confusing. Although she didn't understand much of the technical stuff, she did grasp the thickness of Jufeng's skin.
"Brother Feng, your skin is just too thick—I'm done for, I'm completely full now."
Sister feigned a look of despair, causing the other ladies present to burst into laughter.
No matter how long interstellar travel may be, there is always a destination. However, just as they were about to enter the Large Magellanic Cloud, their spacecraft was suddenly stopped for inspection. Hadn't they only been traveling for a few months? Could it be that there was a civil war in the Large Magellanic Cloud?
