"No one can find them? Search the entire forest! I refuse to believe that this place is so vast that they could have sprouted wings and flown away."
The leader's good mood was doused by the report from his subordinate, and naturally, he did not respond kindly. The subordinate left with a meek acknowledgment, but internally he grumbled, wondering just how large this place really was.
Yang Chou's orders were quickly relayed through Chen Tan Hua to their own Terrorist group hidden in the jungle. The members retreated like a tide into the depths of the forest, lying in wait. No matter how much the enemy shouted, they kept their heads down.
After that subordinate reported back, the number of visible opponents dwindled. The sharp cries of their enemies grew fainter. The initial advantage they had gained was slipping away, and gradually, the opposing Terrorist team began to feel uneasy.
Invisible enemies are the most terrifying. At first, they relied on gunfire to quickly detect enemy movements, feeling as though everything was under control and brimming with confidence. But now, without gunfire to guide them, how could they not feel anxious?
They were already at a disadvantage in numbers, and now their means of compensating for that gap had vanished. If this continued, it would surely be their own downfall.
As time passed from afternoon to dusk and then to night, changes became apparent more swiftly than any numerical perception could convey. It seemed like no time at all before darkness enveloped everything. The growing anxiety among the people made them desperate to seize time, yet time slipped further away.
In an instant, darkness completely took over as night fell across the land, and Yang Chou's counterattack sounded its horn.
Deep in the jungle, Yang Fang, Jufeng, and Chen Tan Hua gathered together like tigers poised to pounce on their prey.
Seeing that the moment was ripe and sensing that their opponents were nearing a breaking point, Yang Fang prepared to give the order to launch their counterattack. However, Jufeng temporarily held him back.
"Yang Ge," Jufeng asked, "Is there a time limit for our Military Exercise today?"
At Jufeng's reminder, Yang Fang suddenly realized he had overlooked something important. This Military Exercise was not meant to go on indefinitely; otherwise, if one side intended to drag it out, it would be unfair.
Initially, both sides had agreed that a winner must be determined within two hours after nightfall. If not, the remaining numbers on each side would be used to judge victory—the side with more remaining members would win. Now it seemed that their opponents had significantly more personnel than they did, and with only a little over an hour left until the deadline, even though Yang Chou's subordinates were formidable, making up for the numerical disadvantage was uncertain.
What they needed was a definitive conclusion.
"Romain's right; we have just over an hour until time runs out. If we rely on conventional methods now, the outcome could be perilous! Romain, do you have any ideas?"
Jufeng smiled awkwardly before turning to Chen Tan Hua. "I have an immature idea; let's discuss it together."
"From several dozen meters away, it's impossible to see any figures clearly. Even with a flashlight, it would have a significant impact, making shooting even more blind. Why don't we just take a few of their guns and then use Gunfire on them? If the opportunity is right, they might end up killing each other more easily than if we took action ourselves."
Hearing this, Yang Fang's eyes lit up. He thought to himself that Ju Feng was indeed his lucky star. Not only did his previous thoughts align with Yang Chou's, but he also managed to devise a method that was more suited to the situation. Keeping him by his side was undoubtedly the right decision.
Yang Fang then turned to Chen Tan Hua, who nodded in agreement. He immediately ordered that this tactical idea be communicated down the line. With a command, Yang Chou and his group began their counterattack.
Leading the main force against the enemy's core, Yang Fang coordinated with Jufeng and Chen Tan Hua, who led the elite troops to cut off their connections from the middle. This was relatively dangerous, so quality was prioritized over quantity.
Chen Tan Hua followed closely beside Jufeng, observing his steady demeanor without a hint of panic. At that moment, he truly resembled the Cosmic Police.
The nearby terrorists had been separated, and he asked Jufeng, "It seems you really are Cosmic Police, and one with excellent grades! Your rank must be quite high; perhaps you could help me get a position someday."
Jufeng chuckled softly at this and shook his head. "Military training isn't necessarily learned in school. Don't you know there are people who make a living through talent? Unfortunately for you, I am one of them. As for an official position, I can't help you there. However, if you're looking for a carefree life without worries about food and drink, I can certainly provide that for you. I believe it would meet most of your desires for this world and allow you to shine!"
Chen Tan Hua listened to Jufeng's unwavering confidence and couldn't help but smile silently. "I'm not suited for shining; I'm more accustomed to living in darkness."
Despite the smile on Chen Tan Hua's face at that moment, there was an inexplicable sense of melancholy. Jufeng had long noticed this; he was also someone deserving of sympathy.
After pondering for a moment, he said seriously, "Don't you know? Many flowers bloom at night without needing sunlight."
Chen Tan Hua paused at Jufeng's unexpectedly serious expression before breaking into a genuine smile.
"Let's deal with them first."
Yang Chou's counterattack was fierce and urgent, leaving no room for the enemy to maneuver. While they were still looking around in confusion, they were suddenly struck back by Yang Chou's side like lightning. The unique advantages of individual combat skills finally had a stage to showcase themselves.
The shift in the situation often occurs due to a simple factor; clarity and obscurity can change just like that.
However, for their opponents, the tragedy was just beginning. One by one, people began to leave the field, but their equipment was confiscated. Thus, Gunfire found its place in this Military Exercise for the second time—but for the other side, it was undoubtedly bad news.
The second sound of the first call rang out, and the opposing team's fearsome member felt a surge of joy, mistakenly believing that his teammates had discovered the enemy's position. Relying on his vague judgment of the sound's source, he ruthlessly unleashed his ammunition. As expected, the unfortunate soul who was hit by the gunfire was swiftly taken out of the game.
What he did not realize was that the one he had sent off the battlefield was actually one of his own teammates.
This situation continued to unfold intermittently in this final battleground until more than half an hour had passed before anyone came to their senses. Unfortunately, it was too late to change the outcome.
The battle persisted until the agreed-upon time, and neither side faced total annihilation. When it came time to tally the numbers, Yang Chou and his group emerged victorious with a decisive advantage, finally determining the ownership of the first batch of their self-manufactured weapons.
There was no time for celebration; after a hard-fought battle, everyone was extremely fatigued. They needed to prepare for the arrival of new weapons the next day, so they each returned home early to rest.
Originally, Yang Fang intended to invite Jufeng, but Jufeng politely declined. Ming Ji needed to prepare for a possible meeting with the Azure Dragon Monk; he had to go back and get ready to avoid being recognized by an enemy.
