Han Fan was contemplating the fastest way to defeat the hurricane when he was suddenly interrupted by one of his subordinates, causing his mood to darken.
However, instead of reprimanding his subordinate, he began to seriously consider the issue at hand.
During a call with Shi Yushu, the newly appointed leader of the United Heart Association had repeatedly warned him to remain vigilant against Jufeng.
This was Han Fan's first encounter with the hurricane, and he was not very familiar with this emerging gang. In contrast, Shi Yushu had considerable experience with Jufeng; they had once been allies, having deceived Guan Bochao's surveillance together, which meant he had a good understanding of them.
It was precisely because of this understanding that Shi Yushu was cautious. He knew all too well the sense of helplessness when facing Jufeng, which is why he chose to stay in the south and entrusted everything to Han Fan.
Yet, he could not fully relax. Despite Han Fan demonstrating an astonishing intellect, even he had to bow down in the face of absolute power.
Han Fan weighed his options in his mind and thought that Jufeng's current state should be similar to his own; it was likely they would come up with some clever tricks.
One of Han Fan's strengths was his ability to summarize. He conducted a thorough investigation into Jufeng's major battles and discovered a common trait: they always favored a combination of deception and reality in their combat strategies. As the saying goes, "All warfare is based on deception." Jufeng's advantage lay in their ability to minimize casualties through clever tactics, even when victory seemed assured.
Such an opponent was truly terrifying; they faced every enemy with utmost caution and presented the most perfect defense to the world.
Han Fan said, "If we didn't think of it, that's one thing; but since we have, we must take precautions. Let's have the reinforcements stay on standby at the original base. We can still send them out once we confirm their numbers."
With that command issued, all members of the United Heart Association began to mobilize. Jufeng's convoy was still on its way, while night deepened around them.
...
The distance from Jufeng's base to Han Fan's location in the east of the city was relatively short. By the time Jufeng's convoy arrived in the eastern part of the city, the hidden Hurricane Brothers should have already reached Han Fan's territory. The two sides were on the brink of war, yet they had not yet clashed.
"Brother Jufeng, when do we strike?"
Inside a black car, Tong Bailong and Jufeng were driving together. Dozens of vehicles surrounded the imposing three-story bar across from them; however, there had been no response from within the bar so far.
Jufeng furrowed his brow tightly because there were no signs that the United Heart Association had mobilized their surveillance. This meant that, at least for now, Han Fan had not fallen for his ruse.
Jufeng sighed deeply; it seemed that Han Fan indeed had some weight behind him—he could see through Jufeng's feigned attack.
Jufeng was not someone who lacked discernment. After making another call to Xue, he decisively ordered the entire convoy to retreat.
However, as the entire convoy began to reverse, a series of sudden and sharp "bangs" echoed through the night, creating a stark contrast to the stillness around them.
Jufeng furrowed his brow and quickly climbed out of the car, scrambling onto the roof. His gaze swept across the surrounding darkness like an owl on watch.
Soon after, more sounds of doors opening and closing filled the air as members of the Azure Wind Antelope team emerged from their vehicles, taking cover and standing guard with heightened tension.
The earlier "bangs" were unmistakably the sound of steel spikes bursting under the immense pressure of the tires, retaliating against being trampled upon.
In that brief moment, dozens of cars had been nearly all punctured by these spikes. Yet, during their drive just moments before, there had been no indication of any trouble; everything had transpired in the instant they came to a halt.
Jufeng's eyes brightened with intrigue; he found this situation quite fascinating—truly fascinating.
With his keen perception, he knew that no one could pull off such a trick in such a short time. However, the fact that their vehicles had been punctured while reversing indicated that they were using an ancient type of spike.
This type of spike had a gently raised slope on one side and a sharp point on the other. When a vehicle passed over the sloped side, there would be no issue; but if approached from the other direction, it would result in a puncture.
Such devices were rare and nearly extinct in modern society. Yet here was an opponent who had employed them against him—a clever individual indeed.
Han Fan naturally did not concern himself with these details; all of this stemmed from another rising star.
Suddenly, Jufeng burst into laughter atop the car roof, thinking to himself that not only was this person's name amusing, but their style was equally entertaining. He resolved to greet them properly.
Addressing the calm night sky, Jufeng called out loudly, "Brother Shi, I've long heard of your reputation. Since you’ve come to welcome me tonight, why not step out for a chat?"
His voice carried on the night breeze and soon spread across the dark expanse. Moments later, a crowd emerged slowly from an alley behind the cars.
At the forefront stood a man about six feet tall, neither too thin nor too stout, exuding an air of competence.
As he stepped forward, more figures appeared from all directions—members of the United Heart Association—each brandishing gleaming Steel Blades, instantly adding an aura of chill to the atmosphere.
The leading man appeared excited, a smile playing at his lips as he said, "It’s truly not easy to meet Feng Shao. If it weren't for Feng Shao bringing these brothers along this time, I wouldn't dare to meet you so openly. Thank you very much, Feng Shao."
Shi Jin's words were laced with hidden barbs and heavy sarcasm. It seemed he took pride in his side's ability to see through Hurricane's tricks while implying that Jufeng had fallen into their trap.
The Underworld Young Master had maintained an undefeated record since his debut, dominating the Underworld in Huaguo. It was no wonder that Shi Jin was so excited; merely having taken down Jufeng's team was enough to earn him admiration.
Of course, this was contingent upon Shi Jin maintaining his advantage in the upcoming battle.
Jufeng smiled coldly, his gaze sweeping over the crowd around him. "Do you really think this is enough to keep me here?" he said lightly.
Shi Jin burst into laughter at this, shaking his head. "Of course not. I know your skills are exceptional, and your martial arts are unparalleled. While I never underestimate myself, I also have my confidence. Even if you manage to leave today, your brothers won't all be able to escape. They seem to be called the Azure Wind Antelope, right? You went to great lengths to train them as your secret weapon, and I will do my utmost to ensure that as many of them as possible remain here."
Upon hearing this, the Azure Wind Antelope could not help but feel indignant, drawing their weapons and matching Shi Jin's momentum. However, the sheer number of opponents was overwhelming; no matter how strong their spirit was, it could not reach every corner of the battlefield.
Jufeng looked at Shi Jin with a calm demeanor, his thoughts unknown.
