On a brightly lit street in a certain county of England, Jufeng followed a young man with explosive yellow hair and three shiny Silver Light earrings embedded in his ears, winding his way into a dark corner.
Not all dark matters must remain hidden from the public eye; they do not necessarily have to unfold in the obscurity of lavishness. The darkness beneath the brilliance is still brilliance, merely requiring a stark contrast for decoration.
Thus, in that dim corner, as he climbed the steps and pushed open the door, what greeted him was still a scene of opulence and splendor.
After entering, the Young Man with Yellow Hair went off to chat with acquaintances. After some time, he returned to Jufeng and said, "I've found the Pool expert you wanted. She'll be out shortly. But don't say I didn't warn you—just because you beat me doesn't mean you'll be invincible. This woman is undoubtedly the queen of this area; I've never seen her lose. To prevent you from walking away empty-handed later, you should pay me my guiding fee first."
Jufeng chuckled dismissively at his words, pulling out a handful of cash from his pocket—all British currency—and handed it all to the young man.
As the young man counted the money Romain had given him, he suddenly felt a jolt of surprise and asked, "Did you just give me all the money you won from me earlier?"
Romain waved his hand, signaling the young man not to be so shocked. Impatiently, he said, "I advise you to take the money and leave quickly. If things turn ugly later, it could end badly for you."
The young man paused in confusion and asked, "Aren't we just playing Pool? How could it turn into a fight?"
Romain chuckled again, wearing a cryptic expression as he replied, "If your skills aren't up to par and you try to cheat or deny it, won't that lead to a fight?"
The Yellow-Haired Youth was taken aback; he had brought Romain here out of frustration over losing so much money. He knew he couldn't afford to offend anyone here. If Romain really tried to cheat him, he would be in trouble.
Without thinking further, the young man bolted away and quickly vanished from sight on the second floor.
Watching that flash of bright yellow disappear from view, Jufeng couldn't help but chuckle softly. The person Vera had found for him was indeed interesting. He wondered what kind of gang this was that required contact through Pool; it had forced him to practice diligently on the plane for several hours.
Fortunately, due to his martial arts background, Romain quickly grasped this sport. Regardless of how he moved, his accuracy was exceptional; any ball he aimed for had no chance of escaping his grasp.
After leaving Pizza Hut without stopping anywhere else, Jufeng headed straight to England. He had expected Vera would at least greet him upon arrival but was surprised when he received a call just before boarding the plane instructing him to learn Pool. Immediately after landing, he found himself playing Pool against the Young Man with Yellow Hair and winning decisively before being directed by Vera to this place.
He couldn't help but feel like he was being rushed through everything under someone else's control; it left him feeling somewhat powerless.
Jufeng had a wireless earpiece hanging by his ear, and on the other end was Vera. Noticing that no one was paying attention to him, he began to fully appreciate the luxury of the second floor while complaining to Vera about his schedule.
"I really feel the need to clarify that we are in a partnership, right? How did it turn into me being your subordinate? Well, I can accept maintaining this kind of relationship for now, but you have to let me know what I'm doing here. Don't start the performance and the script at the same time; I might not be able to handle it."
After Jufeng's complaints, Vera's voice slowly came through, ignoring his grievances and immediately asking a question.
"Have you seen that woman?"
Jufeng shifted his gaze from the expensive mural hanging on the wall covered in mosaics to the crowd. The second floor was large, with a total of eight pool tables. Aside from some people watching and playing, only one table was empty. The yellow-haired youth had just been talking to a young man next to that pool table, who seemed to be looking for someone inside and had not come out yet.
"Probably not yet. But there are plenty of women here, and each one... tsk tsk... I don't even know how to describe it. It seems that what circulates on the streets is indeed a truth tested by time."
Vera did not pay attention to Jufeng's frivolous remarks but echoed back, "Isn't this exactly what you wanted? Don't worry; your task is simple: just take down that woman. I believe in you; I'm waiting for your victory news."
Jufeng was taken aback by her words. Just as he was about to ask for more details, he suddenly heard a busy signal on the earpiece, causing him to mutter a curse under his breath.
Take down? What the hell! Jufeng would not naively think it meant simply walking up to that woman and giving her a push so she would fall over.
The same words can have different meanings in different contexts, and Jufeng felt frustrated. When did he sink so low as to sacrifice his dignity? Sigh, what a decline in society!
Shaking his head and choosing not to dwell on it, he thought it best to face whatever came his way. He had no idea what that woman looked like but hoped she wasn't a dinosaur; otherwise, he wouldn't just hesitate to push her down—he wouldn't even want to if it came to that.
As Jufeng pondered this, suddenly the entire opulent second floor fell silent. He looked up and saw a woman appearing in his line of sight.
Jufeng raised his head and found himself momentarily stunned, taking quite some time to return to reality. It was only because of his remarkable composure; otherwise, he might have drooled in front of everyone.
She was truly... captivatingly unique.
Jufeng had seen countless beauties throughout his life, spanning across time and cultures, each with their own charm. He once thought that a girl like Xixi, with her youthful face and alluring curves, was a rarity in the world. However, he never expected that the woman before him would be so ripe, having already penetrated the hearts of men.
Regardless of her attire or appearance, the aura she exuded was deeply captivating. It felt lightly flirtatious yet carried an undeniable sense of restraint and nobility. At first glance, she seemed to embody the essence of a courtesan from a Qin-style mansion, but upon closer inspection, she transformed into a refined lady from an esteemed family. The striking contrast of these two qualities coexisting in one person truly opened Jufeng's eyes.
Gathering his thoughts, Romain noticed that the girl whispered a few words to the young man with yellow hair he had seen earlier. Then her gaze swept through the crowd before finally landing on him.
"Bang!"
In that instant of eye contact, Romain felt as if he had been struck by a bullet!
It wasn't love that struck him, but it was easy to fall into despair. If there were indeed fox spirits in ancient Huaguo, this woman before him would surely fit the description perfectly.
