It was indeed an extremely sharp Iron Fist, its gleaming blade visible from a distance. The Members presented the Iron Fist with both hands and then respectfully stepped back.
To them, the Commander was akin to a divine being. No one dared to show even the slightest disrespect towards the Commander in person; under certain exaggerated circumstances, they would feel immense guilt for harboring any disrespectful thoughts about the Commander, even when he was not present.
Thus, when they saw someone being disrespectful to the Commander, it felt as if an affront had been made right at their doorstep. This provocation and desecration were utterly detestable. They were filled with murderous intent towards Li Ji; should the Commander give the order, they would undoubtedly swarm to attack, ensuring that Li Ji met a gruesome end.
However, since the Commander had not issued any commands, out of respect, they had to endure and honor the Commander's decision.
Now that the Commander was finally going to take up arms against this reckless intruder, their hearts raced with excitement. They could almost envision Li Ji gasping for breath before ultimately losing his life.
Aside from the Members of the Saint Envoy, only Jufeng and his companions were present. The Ikeda siblings and Hayamura Shuichi shared similar thoughts, believing that after demonstrating his mercy, the Commander had decided to wield the sacred sword against this filthy fellow who showed no signs of repentance.
Jufeng stood among the Members but did not share their sentiments. It was evident from the earlier conversation that years ago, these two had once been allies on the same front—at least not enemies. However, some unpleasant events must have occurred later on; it seemed that the Commander had gained some ultimate benefit, leading to their deep-seated hatred for each other.
Of course, Jufeng could not speculate on what exactly transpired during the Commander's acquisition of that ultimate benefit; such details remained unknown to him.
He would not naively assume there was a clear distinction between right and wrong; Jufeng was not so immature. He simply felt that judging by their auras, Li Ji appeared more righteous. At least the Commander was humble, and Jufeng believed he would remain humble until the end.
So when the Commander accepted the Iron Fist, Jufeng considered another possibility.
Was a weapon solely meant for fighting enemies? Wasn't there a certain type of sword from Yingguo specifically designed for self-infliction?
As Jufeng pondered the situation, everyone was eagerly anticipating the next development when suddenly, a loud crash echoed from within the tower. This time, it did not come from above but rather from below.
Before the members of Saint Envoy could react to the noise, a circular dart abruptly appeared in their line of sight.
The dart was beautifully adorned, with the outermost ring resembling the Sun Golden Bird.
Upon seeing the dart, Jufeng's pupils dilated in shock; he was all too familiar with this weapon. It had played a significant role during the concert night when Utada Hikaru was assassinated in Spring City.
It was an unstoppable force, leaving a trail of blood wherever it went. Although the dart itself was a renowned weapon, its lethality was amplified by the person wielding it.
This individual had a name that resonated with a chilling aura of slaughter.
Five Man Slayer.
The leader of Heroic Journey, Five Man Slayer.
The dart flew around the crowd before returning to its origin, much like a reconnaissance aircraft completing its mission.
Its origin was naturally the void between the third and fourth floors, where a figure appeared like a ghost before everyone. The figure caught the dart and began assessing the situation above.
The examination was mutual; upon seeing the newcomer, everyone felt a chill run down their spines—not due to his appearance but because of the blood that covered him entirely.
Blood stained his body, obscuring his features, while his clothing was drenched in crimson, revealing only hints of its original color.
Much of the blood had begun to congeal, yet more continued to flow downwards. The bright red liquid soaked into the scattered papers on the ground, resembling flowers that had suddenly bloomed.
Not all members of the Saint Envoy were present here; some were waiting outside the tower. The fact that this person could break through numerous obstacles to reach this place proved that they must have fought alongside those waiting outside, the Holy Envoy Members.
And they had emerged victorious.
Jufeng spotted a figure. Although the face was no longer clear, he could be certain beyond doubt that it was Wu.
Uninvited and bringing with him a heavy aura of killing intent, he was undoubtedly an enemy of the Saint Envoy.
Now, they were on the territory of the Saint Envoy, a veritable Tiger's Den. Unless something unexpected happened, the fate of such intruders would surely be tragic. For here stood the Commander, Vice Captain, and the ten Stewards of the Saint Envoy. Such formidable power should not be matched by any single individual in the world.
If Jufeng recognized Wu, it would mean he had to protect Wu's life, which in turn meant he would have to oppose the Saint Envoy. This indicated that all those seemingly unlikely scenarios were about to unfold for Jufeng.
He still had his gang, his women, and his dreams of conquering the world alongside Vera and Ikeda Kenji. If he stepped forward now, all of that would turn to dust.
Yet Jufeng did not entertain a single extraneous thought.
He stepped out from the crowd, moving swiftly yet steadily until he stood before Wu.
Wu noticed someone emerging from the crowd, their gaze exceptionally cold. Suddenly, he felt an odd familiarity with this figure. As they drew closer, his pupils constricted sharply.
He could not fathom why Jufeng would be here; such coincidences seemed impossible in this world. But he understood that he was now a hot potato in this entire situation, and Jufeng should not have stepped forward to take it on.
With a helpless smile revealing white teeth stark against the bloodstains, he slowly said, "You shouldn't have stepped forward."
Jufeng chuckled lightly at this. "On that night at the concert, were you supposed to step forward?"
"The mistakes of the past can no longer be rectified; let us not make any more today."
...
Jufeng stepped out from the Members, causing quite a stir in the entire venue.
Naturally, it was Ikeda Kenji and his group who reacted first. As the Underboss of the Yamamoto Clan, he had previously discussed Li Ji's matters with Jufeng, so he seemed to understand why Romain had stepped forward. Despite facing endless danger, he still chose to stand up.
Ikeda Kenji could comprehend, even admire, this action. Although Jufeng's move could potentially put all three of them in jeopardy, it also gave Ikeda Kenji a sense of reassurance deep within.
Because only by collaborating with such partners could they operate without worries.
Ikeda Kenji even began to envision that with their combined strength, their campaign seemed increasingly feasible.
Of course, this was contingent upon them safely navigating the current crisis.
Hayamura Shuichi secretly marveled at Go, as he could feel the energy flowing through him and imagine the hardships he had endured on his journey. However, he held even greater respect for Jufeng. Despite appearing somewhat frivolous and cynical, he truly was a reliable friend in critical moments.
He embodied the spirit of the samurai.
Ikeda Masahiro found it difficult to understand the world of men; she needed more time to grasp it fully since she was a girl and not like Vera.
Yet she could sense the atmosphere in the venue and felt that Go's arrival was unexpected. Moreover, Jufeng's emergence prompted deeper reflection.
She noticed that when Jufeng walked out just now, his figure seemed to grow taller in an instant, reminiscent of when he had rescued that young woman in Sakura Park during their childhood.
She secretly thought that if Jufeng were to act forcefully again next time, picking her up without her consent, she would still decide to reluctantly forgive him.
Let it be a reward.
Everyone from Saint Envoy looked at Jufeng with puzzled expressions. Wasn't he just quietly standing among the crowd? Why was he stepping forward at this moment?
Was it because of the bloodied man before them? Little did he know that by stepping out, the situation might become even more tragic.
Li Ji and the Commander had already ceased their actions, turning their attention to Jufeng and Wu. Li Ji smiled, and the Commander also smiled.
Li Ji said, "How similar their present is to our past; it's just a pity that time is too cruel."
