Most people's lives are spent this way: first as children, then as parents. The time of being a child feels like just yesterday, yet suddenly, the reality of becoming a parent is upon them!
This was indeed a surprising and exhilarating piece of news. That night in the Three-Star Hotel in Hecheng, Jufeng was so excited that he couldn't sleep a wink. Even more perplexing was the fact that he had paced countless circles on the living room floor, each about a meter in diameter; if he had stretched those circles into a straight line, he could have walked all the way out of Hecheng.
Bill left Hecheng at dawn to head southeast along the coast to contact his partners, stirring up chaos in the Underworld of Huaguo with the Iron Triangle. As for Jufeng, he certainly wouldn’t worry about being sent to a mental hospital due to excessive excitement.
When the first rays of morning sunlight streamed into the bedroom, Ikeda Masahiro woke up just in time. Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she made her way to the living room and saw Jufeng pacing in circles. Her first thought was that she might still be dreaming and hadn’t fully awakened to reality.
Confirming with force that she was indeed awake, Ikeda Masahiro then looked at Jufeng, wondering if he was still lost in his dream.
“Hey, you’re not sleepwalking, are you?”
Jufeng seemed entranced until he suddenly stopped upon hearing Ikeda Masahiro's soft words.
“Uh, you’re awake? Is it bright outside?”
He instinctively glanced out the window and realized that dawn had already begun to break outside.
Hand on his forehead, Jufeng finally returned to reality from his blissful joy. Lu Qijia and her child were still on their way; there wasn’t much time before they would return to Earth. He knew he needed to spend more time with his beloved when they arrived, so during this period, he had to sort out the chaotic situation in Huaguo.
Ah, happiness had come too suddenly; it seemed all plans and arrangements would need to be rethought.
Time was of the essence; he needed to pick up the pace.
In an instant, Jufeng thought of many things. In his excitement, his thoughts raced faster than usual.
“Quick, get dressed! We need to leave here for now. Since Pizza Hut is going to confront me directly, I should prepare well for our meeting.”
With that, Jufeng hurried off to the bathroom to wash his face, readying himself for a symbolic ritual for a brand new and beautiful life ahead.
Ikeda Masahiro felt inexplicably excited upon seeing Jufeng, completely unaware of what had transpired the night before. He could only watch in a daze as Romain's figure disappeared behind the door, and then suddenly realized something.
"How am I supposed to wash up and get dressed with you in here!"
...
After Ikeda Masahiro finished grooming and dressing, Jufeng took the beauty to the next room over. Based on Romain's guess, Ume should be sound asleep by now, with Niu keeping a close watch by her side.
Romain was not particularly skilled in matters of emotion; he always felt out of his depth compared to the battles he fought on the battlefield. Nevertheless, he could see that Niu's feelings for Ume were pure—a genuine love. It was this purity, this willingness to wash dishes for two months for a woman, that made it enviable.
Just as Romain was about to ring the doorbell, the door suddenly swung open from inside. It was Ume, and their eyes met, both momentarily stunned.
"You looking for me?"
They both spoke almost simultaneously.
Then Romain smiled and explained, "I thought since you were unfamiliar with this place and it must be breakfast time, you might not know what to eat. So I came to find you."
Ume responded with an "Oh," then happily rubbed her stomach and laughed, saying, "I am indeed hungry. Let's go eat!"
Romain peered through the gap of the door but did not see Niu. Noticing that Ume was about to close the door tightly without waiting for anyone else, he asked, "Aren't you going to wait for Niu?"
Ume shook her head and replied, "Niu left a while ago. Thanks to the lifesaving money you sent over, I had him take it home first. After all, it's just a meeting gift and doesn't count as part of the negotiations. This is yours; you won't back out, right?"
"Of course not," Romain answered readily, feeling somewhat reassured. Jia'er’s unexpected pregnancy had altered his plans, forcing him to shift from slow to somewhat urgent actions recently. Therefore, he was even happier that they could accept the money.
When Bill came by last night to deliver the funds, Ikeda Masahiro had still been awake and saw those several million. His curiosity about the young couple grew; if they were willing to let Romain spend millions on them as a mere meeting gift, it proved they were indeed worth such a price.
The three of them arrived at the restaurant, and as usual, Mei Zi ordered a lot of dishes. Despite her slender figure, she had an astonishing appetite, eating more than both Jufeng and Ikeda Masahiro combined.
Halfway through the meal, Jufeng decided it was time to get straight to the point instead of fishing for compliments.
"Mei Zi, regarding the matters we need to discuss, I had planned to postpone it a bit longer, but something unexpected has come up, so I think it’s better to talk about it now."
Mei Zi was taken aback by his words, but she wasn't overly surprised. She had already prepared herself for this moment when she decided to take the first sum of money back. That amount would clearly lower her bottom line somewhat, but it couldn't completely overturn her principles.
"Alright, let me see if it's feasible."
Jufeng nodded and then brought up a rather abrupt topic.
"Do you like me?"
At this statement, both of the others were stunned. Mei Zi, who was in the middle of eating a meat bun, nearly spat out her food onto the table.
Of course, it wasn’t that Jufeng was narcissistic or unattractive; it was just surprising that someone with his personality would say something like that.
Seeing their reactions, Jufeng reflected for a moment and realized that they had misunderstood his intention. He awkwardly added, "What I meant was, what do your family think of me? After all, we will be working together closely in the future. While I can't guarantee complete honesty, I still need to be clear about this. It will determine how close our relationship will be moving forward, which is important for both of us."
Upon hearing Jufeng's explanation, Mei Zi understood, and Ikeda Masahiro let out a sigh of relief. The Pool girl had almost lost her sense of reality just now; this person had not seemed quite normal since morning, and now he was saying such things made Ikeda Masahiro wonder if he had traveled through time.
After Jufeng's clarification, Mei Zi thought for a moment and said, "It's fine; otherwise, I wouldn't have accepted that money. As for future interactions, it will depend on your requests."
Jufeng nodded and smiled. "Of course, as long as the foundation is solid, we can continue our discussions. I believe my requests won't pose any difficulties for you. I wouldn't engage in anything unethical or make you do so either. As Confucius said in the Analects: 'Do not impose on others what you do not desire yourself.' I understand that principle."
Mei Zi put down her food and listened intently to Jufeng's words. Since he had already expressed himself this way, it indicated that there was a strong possibility they could reach an agreement moving forward.
Jufeng continued to ask, "If I were to ask you to kill Pizza Hut, what are your chances of success?"
Meizi's gaze sharpened, and after a moment of silence, she answered seriously, "Forty percent."
Jufeng nodded. He had encountered Pizza Hut before and understood how difficult it would be to eliminate him.
"What if I asked you to seriously injure him instead?"
Meizi grasped the concept of serious injury, which meant he would be unable to move freely on the battlefield for at least a month.
This time, she didn't hesitate and quickly replied, "Eighty percent."
Jufeng nodded again and said, "If we inflict a thousand damage on the enemy, we must also suffer eight hundred in return. I'll help you with that eight hundred; you help me earn that thousand. How does that sound?"
