Ikeda Kenji was a rare leader, his every word and action served as a guiding principle. He never spoke ill, yet every statement he made was so genuine and credible.
The next morning, an emergency election for the Yamamoto Clan was hastily convened. Yuta Shouroku had evidently anticipated that this situation was unavoidable, so he focused more on what would happen after the election.
For Yuta Shouroku, every second felt more intense than ever before, filled with anxiety and urgency.
Before the final results were confirmed, he wasted not a single moment. Naturally, Ikeda Kenji did not let his guard down either, despite having the advantage.
Many competitions did not take place on a visible stage; instead, they unfolded in unseen corners, in shadows, quietly yet perilously.
Thus, today was a day of great interest for Yingguo's Underworld and even the political realm. Many people canceled their work commitments, hiding at home while awaiting the final outcome. Of course, many others rushed between different villas and offices, their faces displaying a mix of joy and worry.
This was a battle of wits, depth, and timing—though it did not involve bloodshed, it was incredibly brutal.
The sun rose from the east, slowly climbing higher until it reached its zenith before beginning to descend.
As the sun sank into the horizon and a ray of twilight spread across the land of Yingguo, the results of the emergency election finally emerged.
During this time, some hesitated while others remained resolute; some lamented while others rejoiced.
But all those processes had already blown away with the wind. Now that the results were out, everything had to comply with them.
Ikeda Kenji's integrity meant he was no longer the Underboss.
Instead, he became the new president of the Yamamoto Clan.
Moreover, he was the youngest president in the history of the Yamamoto Clan since its establishment.
This was a monumental event that shook the entire world.
The starlight of night draped over Canglang's Floating Life's rooftop; from afar, this building appeared even more sacred.
Beneath the intricately carved eaves stood Jufeng and Ikeda Masahiro side by side.
"Your brother is truly admirable; he took the position of president without a fight. Unlike here, where everything is about violence and bloodshed—it's impossible to achieve anything without it."
Jufeng gazed at the starry sky, his tone tinged with a hint of helplessness. After a long time of fighting and killing, one inevitably grows weary. After all, life isn't meant for killing; even the fifth person is merely climbing an endless, futile path.
Ikeda Masahiro observed Jufeng's lazy demeanor, as if she could see the weariness hidden beneath that nonchalance—not a fatigue of the heart, but one of the spirit.
Was it because there were too many people to care for and too many matters to consider? Was it that nothing could be done freely?
Once one enters the mundane world, they become burdened in body and mind. That’s why the bloodied man who appeared in Prit Town chose to wander instead of confronting his emotions.
Ikeda Masahiro had gleaned bits and pieces about Wu and Zhu Yao from Jufeng's words, leading her to such accurate analysis.
Jufeng was not Wu; he lacked the coldness and ruthlessness of a killer. Naturally, he couldn't let go of everything that weighed him down—his lover, friends, the club, and even plans for humanity's peace.
He was striving to do his best in every matter; however, at his core, he remained just a person. Being human comes with limits, and there were many things he wished to accomplish but found himself powerless.
Ikeda Masahiro was now Jufeng's woman, even though he had never performed any formal request or given her any basic gifts.
So as a woman of a man, Ikeda Masahiro wrapped her arms around Jufeng's chest from behind and held him tightly.
"I've never had a proper title for you. Can I call you Feng like Sister Jia does?"
Her voice became exceptionally gentle—it was the softest she had ever been since meeting Jufeng.
Jufeng nodded and placed his large hand over Ikeda Masahiro's hands resting in front of him. His hand enveloped hers, filling her heart with warmth.
"Feng, among the sisters, I'm the only one familiar with the Underworld. I understand your struggles and difficulties. While we can't help you with things outside, we can when you come home."
"If you ever feel uncomfortable outside, remember to come back to us. We are all women; making you happy is what we should do."
Ikeda Masahiro's words were largely influenced by her upbringing in Yingguo, yet they were genuinely heartwarming. Jufeng slowly turned around and cradled Ikeda Masahiro's face in his hands before breaking into a warm smile.
Ikeda Masahiro was taken aback; she hadn't quite grasped the meaning behind Jufeng's smile when she suddenly found herself unable to speak.
Because her delicate lips were shaded by softness, in an instant, consciousness fell into chaos, making it impossible to distinguish east from west or north from south.
...
Jufeng had just returned from Zhao City tonight. Flower Snow Moon had barely settled in Zhao City for less than a week when a small group had already defected from the ranks of Hua Gang.
This was a momentum of mutual decline; Hua Gang had become like a river with a breached dam—once the gap was opened, it could not be repaired or healed.
Situ Yu and Yu Jianyuan were still locked in a standoff in the northern part of the capital, or perhaps it was more accurate to say they were playing around. Before Jufeng returned, Situ Yu had just taken the opportunity during a break to visit her sister in Zhao City. Internally, Huaguo was already stable, but Jufeng's return was due to some trivial matters abroad.
Chen Tan Hua had sent back news.
Initially, while in Yingguo, he had accidentally obtained a handgun and discovered traces of the Terrorist, so he handed it over to Flowering Scholar to handle the matter. Now, about two months had passed, and Chen Tan Hua had news; his speed was certainly not slow.
Thus, Jufeng returned to Washing City to bid farewell, preparing for a transition abroad and to lay out some temporary arrangements domestically.
Moreover, since Ikeda Kenji had obtained the position of president, after some organization, he and Vera would need to start planning for the world situation. With Jufeng temporarily absent, someone needed to negotiate on his behalf—naturally, that responsibility fell to Xue.
After bidding farewell to several girls, especially Lu Qijia who was pregnant, and sharing some sweet moments, a temporary meeting of the hurricane was convened in the early morning.
"Regarding Hua Gang's matters, you should allocate some people to cooperate with Snow Moon. Seek stability rather than speed; Pizza Hut has no backup left."
Xue nodded thoughtfully for a moment before recalling something and advised Jufeng: "You’re leaving; make sure your sister-in-law is protected. Those two young men..."
Xue's words were unfinished, but Jufeng understood his concern. He smiled reassuringly and said, "Don't worry; those two are more reliable than anyone."
This was entirely casual banter between friends and naturally expressed Jufeng's trust. Thus, Xue said no more and moved on.
"What about the northwest?"
Jufeng pondered for a moment. The situation along the southeastern coast had not yet stabilized completely; Mu Shu would certainly not be able to divert her attention elsewhere in the short term. Moreover, as Jufeng ’s woman and the leader of the Unification Alliance, her status was somewhat special. Jufeng knew that Xue could not fully trust the Unification Alliance just yet.
"Before I leave, I’ll make a trip back to the northwest. You don’t need to worry about her being detrimental to us. Regarding the global situation, there are certain advantages in the northwest that we can exploit as a breakthrough point. She will come looking for you."
Trivial matters always seem to pile up, and Jufeng, striving for brevity, left Washing City as the sun rose.
Flying northwest, with no companions by his side, Jufeng chose to travel alone for the sake of confidentiality and convenience, as this matter had nothing to do with the Underworld.
By the time he arrived in the northwest, daylight had fully broken. Mu Shu brought only Gou Hongbo to meet him. It was unclear whether this was meant to convey a message to Jufeng, but it seemed that the woman had remained quite composed.
In truth, Jufeng had great faith in Mu Shu. He never hesitated when it came to those he believed in. Just as he had previously entrusted his wife and children to two extraordinary young martial artists, it was simply a habit of life for him.
Gou Hongbo greeted Jufeng respectfully, who smiled and gestured that there was no need for formality. Many of Azure Wind Antelope's elite were now under the command of the Unification Alliance, with Gou Hongbo being second-in-command after Chang Guohong.
Then, Jufeng turned his gaze toward Mu Shu and slowly spoke.
"I will be leaving here shortly for abroad. I am temporarily entrusting domestic affairs to you; I hope you can cooperate well with him."
Mu Shu looked at Jufeng and noticed he still appeared carefree, handling things with a nonchalant air that starkly revealed his irresponsible attitude.
His silence was an implicit agreement. Jufeng chuckled inwardly and continued, "There is one more thing. You should have heard about the recent movements of the Yamamoto Clan. Soon we will become allies and step onto the world stage. The northwest has geographical advantages, so I hope you can put some effort into this matter. When there is time and contact, I will share more details with you."
Mu Shu's expression turned serious as she heard the words "Yamamoto Clan" and "world." Suddenly, her demeanor shifted; her eyes brightened with excitement, and her breath quickened involuntarily.
Jufeng had anticipated Mu Shu's enthusiasm for this matter because she was an advocate for women's rights, aspiring for equality between men and women even on the battlefield. She admired Flower Snow Moon greatly, and Jufeng was even more convinced that if she knew she would be collaborating with European Blue Cat, her eyes would widen in astonishment.
She desired something but suddenly realized that she hadn't fully contemplated what "world" truly meant; her heart felt uncertain, leaving her without a clue. This realization startled her, causing beads of sweat to form on her forehead.
Jufeng speculated that in the days to come, while integrating the United Heart Association, she would have plenty to occupy herself with.
As Mu Shu was lost in thought, Jufeng unexpectedly leaned forward and lightly pecked her cheek.
Mu Shu jolted back in surprise, staring at Jufeng in shock.
Gou Hongbo immediately turned his body away; it was part of his duty as a subordinate to know what to observe and listen to while promptly forgetting what needed to be set aside.
In the next moment, Mu Shu's face flushed crimson with embarrassment and even anger. She glared at Jufeng without backing down.
Then, without any warning, or perhaps Mu Shu simply couldn't evade it, Jufeng repeated his earlier actions.
He resumed his stance, looking at Mu Shu with a playful smile.
Mu Shu wanted to step back but found her body somewhat uncontrollable. Retreating would mean admitting defeat, yet not retreating left her vulnerable and unable to escape.
As she struggled with her thoughts, Jufeng successfully launched several surprise attacks in quick succession, leaving Mu Shu feeling embarrassed and flustered, unsure of how to respond.
Fortunately, Jufeng was pleased and satisfied, laughing heartily as he walked away. As he passed by Gou Hongbo, he even gave the latter's shoulder a friendly pat in encouragement.
The latter felt quite awkward.
