The sudden sound and its content sent a shock through Jufeng's heart.
When was he exposed? Where did the problem arise? Had the two unconscious individuals awakened, or had something happened to Chen Tan Hua on the other side?
A multitude of speculations surged within Jufeng in an instant, and various imagined scenarios flashed before his eyes like a montage.
He hid in the building, temporarily avoiding the panicking terrorists, realizing that only a small portion of the enemy was present. The first to arrive were merely the Senior Management, so for these lower-level personnel, fear was even greater than for Jufeng.
From his corner, Jufeng looked at the two large characters not far away, listening to the chaotic footsteps and noisy arguments, knowing that pursuing the cause was now pointless. No matter where the problem lay, he should first resolve the immediate situation. If he ensured safety here, then even if it startled the snake in the grass, what could it matter?
The area within a dozen kilometers had already been surrounded; unless one could dig underground or ascend into the air, escaping capture would be nearly impossible.
Jufeng seized an opportunity and prepared to act, but just then, the broadcast that had calmed for a moment sounded again.
"Intruders have been confirmed in Production Workshop No. 2. Nearby forces, provide urgent support! Intruders have been confirmed in Production Workshop No. 2. Nearby forces, provide urgent support!"
The intruder had been discovered? Jufeng was astonished; aside from himself, there could only be one intruder.
This news was significant; it at least proved that when the first report was made, Chen Tan Hua had not yet been captured, meaning he had not exposed himself.
However, if that were the case, how could Flowering Scholar have revealed himself after receiving the first report? Chen Tan Hua was skilled and outstanding in various aspects; logically speaking, he should not have been discovered after being warned.
There must be some hidden truth behind this.
This news halted Jufeng's steps. He then saw several armed individuals hastily leaving the Storage Workshop, heading towards another fork in the path.
Watching this scene made Jufeng's heart tremble. Then it seemed he thought of something and involuntarily showed a serious expression.
He murmured, "Thank you, Flowering Scholar!"
...
After parting ways with Jufeng, Chen Tan Hua continued down his corridor. Occasionally, vehicles transporting goods passed by him from behind. A cursory glance revealed a hint of decay and a pungent odor.
This path was longer than Jufeng's; upon seeing these vehicles, Chen Tan Hua began to estimate that he had ultimately chosen Production Workshop while Jufeng had taken Storage Workshop.
Although Chen Tan Hua did not encounter any familiar faces during his journey, several strangers approached him with inquiries, as the presence of the Power Workshop was quite rare in this area.
After several rounds of questioning, Chen Tan Hua had no choice but to use the excuse of looking for someone. Following the local signage, he fabricated a reason to head to Production Workshop No. 2 and was successfully directed to a vast and complex workshop.
Here, machines were primarily at work, but there were also many figures patrolling the area. The assembly line was filled with tall silhouettes, and Chen Tan Hua realized that he had arrived at a section dedicated to producing mecha exteriors.
Having spent quite some time navigating through the workshop, Chen Tan Hua still had not figured out how to locate Jufeng. Suddenly, the first announcement echoed through the space, causing him to break into a slight sweat.
However, after a moment of thought, he reasoned that since he was in the Production Workshop, Jufeng must have chosen the right route. Regardless of whether he had been discovered or not, Chen Tan Hua felt he should immediately relieve some of Romain's pressure. Yet, he was still uncertain about the distance involved, and with the area already under lockdown, any rash move could lead to detection.
With a furrowed brow and a troubled mind, he pondered his next steps.
How could he not help Jufeng here? If he exposed his own target, wouldn’t that provide cover for Romain? Even if the worst outcome was being discovered, it would still alleviate some of Romain's burden.
Chen Tan Hua lifted his head and surveyed the intricate layout of the Production Workshop. He thought to himself that this was indeed his best battlefield.
With newfound confidence, he strode boldly toward two terrorists who were discussing the situation. In their astonished gaze, he swiftly knocked one of them to the ground with a punch. He then turned to the other stunned terrorist and declared,
"I am the intruder; you can come and catch me now."
With that, he slipped away among the various metallic structures.
...
The trust between brothers was forged in moments like these; it was hard to pinpoint exactly when it began—perhaps at the instant they killed Yang Chou or during their subsequent conversations that subtly influenced them. But dwelling on that served no purpose; time had flowed to this point where one was willing to take risks for the other while the other could steadfastly think of this matter in an instant. That alone was enough.
Just like Jufeng ’s words before leaving—two clichéd characters combined were sufficient.
Without a second thought, Jufeng vanished into the distance and quickly reached the entrance.
Though over twenty people had just left, there were still guardians stationed at their posts. Their gazes had just shifted away from the door when Jufeng ’s appearance immediately drew their attention back.
While his clothing indicated he was one of them, the writing on it suggested otherwise. In such extraordinary times, both men instantly became vigilant.
"What are you doing?"
As Jufeng approached, panting heavily, the two armed individuals on guard questioned him with suspicion.
Jufeng appeared to be struggling to catch his breath, hesitating to respond. The two guards, growing impatient, waited for him to speak, unaware that everything they saw was merely a façade.
Catching a glimpse of their impatience from the corner of his eye, Jufeng allowed a faint smile to curve his lips in a hidden corner. Suddenly straightening his hunched posture, he struck out with both hands. One hand landed on the chest of the nearest guard, delivering a blow that sent him into immediate shock.
Due to the distance, Jufeng could not strike the other guard right away. Instead, he seized the opportunity to grip the gun that the guard had raised.
With nimble fingers, he inserted them into the trigger guard, rendering the guard unable to fire.
Almost simultaneously, Jufeng freed his other hand and delivered a powerful punch to the temple of the guard holding the gun. With Jufeng's gentle support, the guard slowly crumpled to the ground.
There was a duty room at the entrance, and now only these two guards remained. Jufeng dragged them into the duty room and secured one of their guns at his waist before entering the Storage Room with the other.
The so-called Storage Workshop was merely a slightly upgraded version of a warehouse; it could store some pure metal weapons at normal temperatures. However, certain ammunition required different methods for preservation.
As Jufeng stepped inside, he remained cautious, uncertain how many people were left after those who had departed. To his surprise, there were no guards inside; unfortunately, this outermost Storage Workshop was just an ordinary warehouse.
Yet even an ordinary warehouse contained items that Jufeng needed to handle. He searched through the entire Storage Workshop until he found what he was looking for.
The bombs available were all assembly bombs, divided into explosive and triggering components. Without the triggering component, the explosive part could not detonate; essentially, it was a reaction between two chemicals kept apart—one alone would not explode.
The triggering components were mild and stable in nature and were stored separately here. Thus, Jufeng gathered all the triggering components together and dragged them into one of the Storage Rooms, then placed a bomb inside. Instantly, everything around Jufeng began to shake violently.
This was a last resort; even if it alerted others, it had to be done. By this time, numerous cracks had appeared in the outer Storage Workshop, which started to sway precariously. Half an hour had already passed.
Jufeng knew that soon enough, Azure Dragon Monk would arrive here, so he had to hurry.
After entering through the main door, there was another side door that appeared completely sealed from outside—a likely storage area for other dangerous weapons. Without hesitation, Jufeng opened the side door and stepped inside; his first reaction was one of shivering dread.
"Achoo!"
Jufeng suddenly inhaled the cold air and couldn't help but sneeze, then muttered a curse about the cold before continuing deeper into the corridor.
It was still the long hallway, but the only difference was that it was many times colder than outside. Romain ran for a minute and finally came across numerous rooms, each containing different types of weapons, stored in various ways.
He saw with his own eyes that one of the rooms had a roaring fire burning inside, while another was filled with infrared rays.
Each room had its own energy button, which could be activated from outside with a little time. However, there were over thirty rooms, and even if he spent a minute on each, it would take half an hour to get through them all.
Just as Romain was about to take action, he suddenly heard footsteps behind him.
His nerves instantly tensed!
