After the collision, there would be a rebound. Even if one’s head crashed against the wall, blood flowing freely, they would still stagger backward, retreating a distance. Not to mention the two raging mechs.
One hundred meters, zero meters, fifteen meters. The distance between the War God and the Star was constantly changing, and in just a breath's time, it left everyone in shock.
Cao Ke drew his weapon and fired; it was about to bloom before civilization. How would Jufeng respond?
The onlookers couldn't help but hold their breath. Even those who were merely spectators felt their hearts leap into their throats. Those with weaker nerves, like young girls or women, quickly grabbed the hands of nearby boys, turning away and closing their eyes, unable to bear to watch.
However, after a moment of pause, there was no explosion as expected.
If this duel were to end so simply, why would Shangguan Wangyu and Cao Ke have prepared for so long?
With such a high-profile guest lineup, it was only natural to provide a visual feast.
Civilization's response could certainly be called worthy of the Crimson Rank title.
It seemed he had anticipated Cao Ke's move. Since Cao Ke dared to launch a grenade at such close range, why should he evade?
Civilization immediately released the Energy Isolation Shield, allowing the bomb to explode two meters in front of him. The energy would not affect him; instead, it would reflect back toward the source of the attack.
The Energy Isolation Shield was an upgraded version of the isolation dome that Jufeng had used when facing six Junior Terrorists. It was a life-saving device; however, each mech had a limited number of these shields. Civilization had already used one at the start, seemingly putting him at a disadvantage.
Yet how could civilization allow it to go to waste?
Cao Ke did not expect civilization to release this life-saving weapon so quickly. As a result, before his Thermal Sword could make contact with civilization, he had no choice but to forcibly alter his trajectory due to the reflected grenade's shockwave.
Every attack was at full speed, and only the Crimson Rank could achieve success in such a short time at such close range.
The advance suddenly transformed into a steep ascent, and amidst the rolling smoke and roaring flames, the figure of the War God emerged.
The battlefield had moved into the sky.
Cao Ke ascended, gazing down at the thick smoke, waiting for Civilization to appear.
However, two seconds passed without a trace of the star's presence.
Cao Ke's expression tightened, sensing something was wrong.
Unfortunately, he realized it two seconds too late.
Civilization was not within the smoke; he was above it.
As soon as he released the energy barrier, he had already prepared to ascend.
The moment the sparks ignited, he began his ascent. Although the shockwave from the Grenade made it difficult to rise, Civilization, being of Crimson Rank, could naturally perform the challenging maneuver of forcibly altering his trajectory.
As he readied his Thermal Sword and Grenade in mid-air, Cao Ke finally emerged from the smoke.
In those two seconds, Civilization reached above Cao Ke. With both Grenade and Thermal Sword in hand, only the targets of attack and defense had changed.
Cao Ke never expected that the counterattack from Civilization would be so perceptive, leaving him with no opportunity to release his energy shield.
It seemed he had exhausted all means to turn the tide, yet Civilization's gaze remained resolute, not daring to relax for a moment.
Mid-Level Red Rank would always be Mid-Level Red Rank; as long as he could still fight, he had to be taken seriously.
Thus, Civilization witnessed Cao Ke's body, unable to turn back, blindly thrusting a sword into the air.
However, the blade was aimed directly at Grenade.
Grenade immediately erupted.
The flowers on the sandy ground had not yet wilted when a vibrant display began in the sky.
The close-range explosion, without the protection of an energy shield, left Cao Ke inevitably injured as he plummeted downward.
In mid-fall, Civilization's descending figure reappeared.
Two Thermal Swords met at their tips, clashing against each other.
The shoulder of the War God had lost half of its mass, and a hole appeared beside the Star's ribs.
Then, the two mechs separated from one another, descending amidst the thinning smoke that lingered over the sand.
The landing posture was strikingly similar, with one leg kneeling on the ground, the Thermal Sword deeply embedded in the Dune.
“Wow!”
Suddenly, the venue on the first floor erupted with deafening applause and cheers!
Since it was ninety-nine percent realistic, everything was just like reality except for the fact that one wouldn’t actually die. Communication was no exception.
“Why can you predict my actions? Your ascent just now made no sense; I don’t understand.”
Cao Ke gasped heavily, his breathing labored. He truly couldn’t comprehend why civilization would defy logic in this way. When the bomb exploded under the protection of an energy shield, the textbook indicated that the best course of action was to retreat. Although textbooks are not infallible, based on past experiences, he should not have been there at all. It felt as if someone had been waiting for him there, as if they had anticipated his next move.
Cao Ke was puzzled and sought answers. Now, it was a fair break for both of them, making it an appropriate time for some conversation.
Civilization's gaze shifted from the War God, not on the sandy ground but within the Simulation Chamber.
He too was panting, showing little difference from Cao Ke. Yet his expression remained calm, as if he were not in a battlefield at all.
“I’ve watched all your battle recordings—from your first major challenge at fifteen to your forced participation in the Universal Mecha Performance Competition at five—totaling 106 matches. I believe you haven’t even organized such detailed data yourself.”
Civilization’s calm voice echoed in Cao Ke’s ears. At those words, Cao Ke suddenly looked up, utterly shocked.
“From the moment we first met, when you openly expressed your affection for Snow, I knew this day would come eventually. I trust Snow; I know you won’t have any chance. But I don’t want Snow to see her boyfriend fail. Because my failure would mean her heartbreak.”
"So I have to prepare for Jin. Besides training in the mecha and working, I spend all my time watching your battle videos. I can even remember the time and opponent of each match; I believe I will remember every detail completely."
"That year, when you proved your mid-stage strength, the opening was similar to Jin's. So I know where your next piece will land on the board, which leads to the current Situation."
"And," Wenming said as he stood up, the hole under his ribs instantly sealing up, leaving Cao Ke and the audience in a state of confusion.
"This is the concept of Micro-Mechanism designed by Xue, replacing solid metal. Because I just predicted the position where your Thermal Sword would strike, your sword did not cause me any harm."
The audience could not hear Wenming's words, but the Data Room could hear them clearly.
Jiang Xue listened to her man speak steadily, a sweet smile appearing on her lips.
