In the most prosperous city of the Cosmos, there lay vast suburbs—deserts, oases, forests… a variety of landscapes adjacent to the urban sprawl. Wild beasts and insects thrived in these areas, yet they coexisted peacefully with the city, becoming popular destinations for urban dwellers seeking leisure and adventure.
However, on this night, until dawn many days later, everyone could only stand still.
The order issued by Huankezhao was known only to a select few core individuals. Even after learning the reasons behind it, they remained tight-lipped, fearing trouble would come their way.
When two adults fought, it was not a matter for children to involve themselves in.
On the vast grasslands, a lion raised its regal head, gazing at two colossal figures not far away. It must have wondered what kind of monsters had wandered into its territory uninvited—was it a provocation?
“Roar!” The lion's fierce roar expressed its majesty and sacredness, declaring itself untouchable.
Jufeng and Lu Hongyu piloted their mechs, crouched among some bushes. They listened to the distant roar of the lion while chatting about various matters and observing the Suihuan Army searching around for opportunities.
“It’s been so many years; Brother Lu must have found his partner by now.”
As Jufeng shared some casual family matters with Lu Hongyu, he felt a sense of belonging. He enjoyed this atmosphere of conversation.
Lu Hongyu smiled slightly, a hint of self-deprecating humor ringing in Jufeng's ears.
“With my bad temper, how many people would want to be with me? About four or five years ago, a friend introduced me to someone from a powerful family. At that time, I had nothing but a younger sister. After spending some time together, we parted ways and I haven’t sought anyone since.”
Jufeng could imagine that it was a story filled with both dreams and reality. Lu Hongyu’s attributes were impeccable; he was undoubtedly the perfect gentleman in the eyes of most women. However, the barriers created by social status often severed some fairy-tale elements. Perhaps in the end, the girl was left more pitiful than Lu Hongyu himself.

Lu Hongyu noticed Jufeng's concern for the Lu Qi Family and couldn't help but shake his head with a wry smile. "The Qi family is even more indifferent; they haven't even considered matchmaking all these years. However, they do often mention Brother Jufeng..."
Lu Hongyu didn't delve deeper. Although he was the elder brother of the Lu Qi Family, he had to consider Jufeng's feelings. Some things were better left unsaid; a hint could be more effective than an outright statement.
Jufeng lacked subtlety, but he understood the implication. He just didn't know how to respond.
At that moment, a patrol team of twenty mechas appeared in the distance, prompting both of them to be on high alert, which conveniently provided Jufeng with an opportunity to change the subject.
Twenty mechas constituted a squad within the Suihuan Army, which was slightly different from the Universal Police's Ironclad Brigade. Shangguan Wangyu had sent elite members of the Suihuan Army to pursue Jufeng and his group, and since they were outnumbered, they decided to split up after some discussion.
Shangguan Wangyu's primary target was Jufeng himself, so he teamed up with Lu Hongyu to draw most of the pursuers away. Meanwhile, Vera, Tian Feng, and Liu Gulang would ensure that Jiang Xue Wenyun and the others escaped in another direction.
Jufeng and Lu Hongyu had already taken down two squads and had begun to coordinate seamlessly. Lu Hongyu remained still on the ground while Jufeng, about a hundred meters away, seized an opportunity and suddenly surged forward.
He moved with the speed of Crimson Rank, like a hurricane tearing through the air, instantly engaging two mechas. These two Azure Rank mechas were no match for him; with just one strike, they both lost their combat capability.
True to its name, the hurricane was astonishingly fast. After dispatching two mechas, Jufeng immediately appeared before another pair. With his Thermal Sword drawn, two more Azure Rank Mecha Pilots found themselves incapacitated.
At this point, all Suihuan Army members reacted quickly; some even fired shells at him. However, their shells were far too slow for Jufeng. With a light leap, he easily evaded them.
As Jufeng drew most of the attention toward himself, it was now Lu Hongyu's turn to act. He didn't need to rise; during his earlier observations, he had already locked onto three mechas as targets. Pressing several buttons, a series of shells were launched.
Modern mechas were equipped with sensing systems that could detect sudden threats and activate Energy Isolation Shields.
However, the Energy Isolation Shield could only block one attack at a time. Lu Hongyu's shells were combined munitions; the first would breach their defenses while the second was the real killer.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" After three deafening explosions, three more mechas lost their combat capability.
At the same time, Jufeng paid the price of temporarily losing half of the Shell system and also lost three mechs.
In just an instant, the twenty members of the Mecha Squad had seemingly vanished, while Jufeng and Lu Hongyu had only just appeared before them.
The ensuing battle could not be taken lightly; however, for the Crimson Rank Jufeng and the upper-tier Azure Level Lu Hongyu, victory was merely a matter of time.
The enemy sent out a distress signal.
Two minutes later, another ten combatants lost their fighting capability.
Jufeng and Lu Hongyu had naturally sustained some injuries as well. They picked up a relatively intact mech and decisively made their escape.
Another minute passed, and another squad of mechs appeared on the battlefield, but there was no trace of Jufeng and Lu Hongyu.
The two found a concealed spot and used the captured mechs to fully repair themselves before moving to another location to set an ambush.
The direction remained unchanged; they were still in this vast and distant grassland.
In the realm of mechs, there exists a special classification known as Tenth Rank.
Each rank consists of three tiers, and before reaching Crimson Rank, there are a total of nine tiers. Logically, if one reaches Tenth Rank, they have entered Crimson Rank. However, crossing the chasm to Crimson Rank is exceptionally difficult. If we follow the traditional classification of tiers, the gap between nine tiers and Tenth Rank is vast and seems unfair. Thus, a Tenth Rank classification emerged between Crimson Rank and Azure Level.
This is akin to individuals like Lu Hongyu.
Invincible below Crimson Rank but still some distance away from it.
Throughout the history of mechs, such individuals are certainly not rare; many remain at this level for their entire lives. Yet, there are also some who can cross this chasm given certain opportunities.
Of course, Jufeng had never experienced the Tenth Rank; his mecha career was too dazzling, reaching Crimson Rank in just a year. This is also why the Dragon Elder valued him so highly.
Now, he had already reached the mid-tier.
Although he wasn't as young as Cao Ke when he reached this stage, the time he spent getting there was significantly shorter. Let's not forget that Jufeng had an eight-year gap in his life journey.
Thus, he had ample confidence and resources to leave.
