Qi Fa was stimulated!
This was the consensus reached by many insiders of the Dragon Breaker Army.
The next day, Ouyang Chang arranged for Chen Tan Hua and Tian Feng to join the army. Initially, he intended for them to be deputy Masters, but this was rejected by Jufeng. After some thought, he decided to appoint them as the two deputy captains of the Royal Guard, while the captain's position was dramatically handed over to Sisi.
Every army has a Royal Guard, and the Dragon Breaker Army had one many years ago. However, it disbanded during a coup, which touched the heart of the Dragon Elder, leading to its cancellation. Now, with Jufeng taking office, the Royal Guard has been reorganized.
In the following time, there was still much idleness. From a broader perspective, Huankezhao was consolidating resources. Their wealthy merchant resources and corporate government were facing some impacts from Zhan Xingzi. Additionally, the military was adjusting its strategy regarding Mech Equipment, planning to deploy a satellite interference system across the vast area of the Large Magellanic Cloud. This new form of mecha and Battleship strategy was based on the research results of Jiang Xue.
The research results from Jiang Xue indicated that within a certain range, their respective Fighter Jets could control each other through metal chips. This was a terrifying prospect. To prevent such occurrences, protective satellites had to be installed in every corner of the Star System. This not only enhanced the defense system but also posed a significant risk for mechas that were not aligned on a unified front.
Similar events were occurring in the Magellan Star System. The identity of Jiang Xue as the chief Researcher of Huankezhao received immense attention. She made her results public, which naturally garnered countless flowers, applause, and shocked reactions. Consequently, the Magellan Star System also began comprehensive defensive preparations. Since its territory was not as vast as its brother's, both sides progressed at a similar pace.
As Ouyang Chang and Qi Fa walked down the corridor holding an order from their superiors, they discussed among themselves.
"More than half a month has passed, and this first challenge has finally arrived. It seems that Pand Zhong is quite composed!"
A slight smile appeared at the corner of Qi Fa's mouth; he held the least respect for Pand Zhong. Once, when accompanying the Dragon Elder to a high-level military banquet, he called out Pand Zhong's name during the event. It took intervention from the Dragon Elder afterward to smooth things over.
After finishing his statement, seeing that Ouyang Chang did not respond, he couldn't help but feel annoyed: "Changchang, stop thinking about the Commander's wife; otherwise, I’ll have your position revoked."
This was naturally a joke, but it startled Ouyang Chang, who quickly covered Qi Fa's mouth and looked around to ensure no one was watching before threatening him: "If you dare say that again, I'll drag you out for a mecha duel."
Of course, Qi Fa knew he couldn't win against Ouyang Chang. He shrugged and gestured for him to let go.
Once released, knowing that Qi Fa said that because he felt neglected earlier, he explained: "I was just wondering how amazing this Jiang Xue is; she almost changed our mecha combat style. Truly impressive!"
With a cold snort, Qi Fa replied: "Look at you! She's already married; you don't stand a chance."
Raising his eyebrows defiantly, Ouyang Chang retorted: "Aren't you calling her Commander Jufeng now?"
Inside the military conference room sat only a few people since only those at division level and above were qualified to attend. The focus of the Dragon Breaker Army was on guerrilla warfare; there were more officers below commander rank. Besides two combat masters at division level, there were only two logistics ministers sitting upright in their seats.
The only additional person present was Liu Gulang, who had finished some tasks and was now by Jufeng's side.
"Has the news been sent back to Earth?" Jufeng asked Liu Gulang as they waited for Ouyang Chang and Qi Fa to arrive.
Liu Gulang nodded and replied, "It has been delivered. Ikeda Kenji even responded that Brother Jufeng's orders should arrive soon; he's been quite bored during this short wait."
Jufeng smiled. At times like this, he never felt lonely or weak, because there were always many people standing behind him in support. It was as if he were a stream of water that would never run dry, continuously fed by a source of fresh water.
Just then, Ouyang Chang and Qi Fa knocked on the door. Jufeng let them in, and the two partners, who often found each other disagreeable, entered the room.
Jufeng keenly sensed that the atmosphere between the two was somewhat off. However, based on what Liu Gulang had reported, this was merely their interaction mode—harmless and likely to strengthen their friendship.
With a slight smile, Jufeng invited them to take a seat and got straight to the point: "Commander really is considerate, letting me rest for half a month before sending me on a mission. So, what do you have for me?"
This statement was laced with sarcasm; everyone present understood the underlying tone.
Ouyang Chang placed the folder he was holding on the table and answered seriously, "There are two missions: one is to protect the Music Goddess Wen Yun while she goes to the front lines for a morale-boosting performance, and the other is to scout some intelligence at the edge of the star system."
Both missions were straightforward and seemed uncomplicated.
Jufeng's gaze casually swept over Tian Feng before he pondered for a moment and said, "Let's assign the first mission to the Imperial Guard. They’ve just been pulled from various units; it will be a good opportunity for them to bond."
Ouyang Chang wasn't privy to all the details but knew about Wen Yun's relationship with Jufeng. Seeing Jufeng assign his Imperial Guard for the task indicated their connection was indeed significant.
Sisi stood up and declared loudly, "Yes! We will ensure the mission is completed."
Jufeng chuckled and motioned for Sisi to sit down. Then he turned his attention to the second mission. "Do you two Masters have any suggestions? The reconnaissance mission shouldn't be as simple as it sounds."
Ouyang Chang nodded, his expression becoming serious. "Reconnaissance missions are inherently more dangerous; they can't be conducted as team operations but rather through individual infiltration. However, this time, the most challenging aspect isn't just that."
He glanced at Qi Fa before finally locking eyes with Jufeng. "The toughest part is that the area we need to scout falls within Scorpion Army territory."
When the words "Scorpion Army" appeared in the office, the temperature seemed to drop several degrees. This army was one of the five Dragon Head Armies, having risen to prominence only in recent decades, known for its overwhelming strength and exceptionally fierce combat style, which was quite bloody.
Moreover, just ten years ago, a woman took on the role of Commander of the Scorpion Army, elevating its reputation to one of the most formidable in the last decade.
Scorpion Army, Demoness, Xiao Ji!
"Xiao Ji is extremely cunning and has a tightly organized military. In past reconnaissance missions against the Scorpion Army, nine out of ten have ended in failure."
This was a brutal statistic. Jufeng had naturally heard of this person, but now that he was about to face her, he felt an inexplicable sense of trepidation.
Who would be best suited to deal with Xiao Ji?
