In the elegant Coffee House, Jufeng sipped his coffee, watching Ganwen slip through the door, and couldn't help but shake his head with a quiet chuckle. 0

Everyone has their own constraints; no one can escape the desires of this world. 0

“Councilor Gan, you really are quite cautious. I doubt any of those stars in the entertainment industry are as shy about showing their faces as you are.” 0

It was a mocking remark, a blatant mockery. After taking a large sip of the smooth coffee, Ganwen let out a relaxed sigh and shot Jufeng a glare. “Stop mocking me; I'm only here because of your business. If you keep this up, we won't be able to remain friends!” 0

Jufeng's smile gradually faded as he decided not to continue teasing; he had more important matters on his mind. 0

“How is Chen Tan Hua doing?” 0

Ganwen chuckled lightly. “Are you implying that you don't trust me? Don't worry; everything is fine. In the Military Court, everyone is a soldier; no one dares to take matters into their own hands. It's just that his behavior has been a bit excessive, so he might not be out for a while.” 0

Upon hearing this, Jufeng felt considerably reassured. However, his expression shifted as he looked at Ganwen and said firmly, “I want him out now.” 0

Ganwen was taken aback and felt displeased. His voice turned cold as he replied, “ Jufeng, you can't say that. I've done my best; are you questioning my dedication?” 0

Ganwen stared at Jufeng's face, unable to discern his true thoughts. From a literal interpretation of his words, Ganwen had every reason to be angry. 0

Seeing Ganwen's expression grow heavy, Jufeng suddenly reached out and patted Ganwen on the shoulder, his face brightening with a smile. “Look at your expression; don't wear such a long face. I need you to handle this for me, but let me explain the reasons first.” 0

This was their first meeting since the Demonstration, though they had exchanged numerous telegrams and phone calls during ordinary times to discuss military and political matters or chat about the near future. They were already quite familiar with each other, their relationship more than mere friendship—more like comrades fighting in the same trench. 0

When Ganwen saw Jufeng's expression suddenly shift to one of cheerfulness, he realized that Romain had been intentionally keeping him in suspense. He couldn't help but feel relieved inside, though his expression remained tense as he pretended to still be angry. “Don't try that with me; if things go awry now, there won't be any room for negotiation.” 0

Jufeng chuckled and joked, "Now this is a bit more humane. Always acting so aloof, it makes one want to give you a good smack." 0

With that, Jufeng began to get to the point. 0

"The reason Chen Tan Hua acted so decisively was still for my sake. Privately, we are friends, and in this mission, he represents me; his attitude naturally reflects mine. If I had not taken action then, how could I maintain my credibility upon returning? All my efforts in the Dragon Breaker Army over the past half month would have gone to waste. Personally, we are friends; publicly, he is contributing to my reputation, which ultimately benefits your future endeavors. Shouldn’t we rescue him now?" 0

Ganwen pondered for a moment and realized that Chen Tan Hua's actions held such deeper meaning; otherwise, he would have thought it was merely Meng Lang's impulsiveness or genuine nature, secretly feeling that Chen Tan Hua was being reckless. 0

Then he couldn’t help but self-deprecate; anyone who could be friends with Jufeng surely wasn’t someone to be underestimated. By his previous thoughts, he would have been on the same level as those he despised. 0

With a shift in mindset, Ganwen’s attitude naturally changed as well. He thought carefully again and then casually took out his phone, searching for a number to dial. 0

Listening to the details of the conversation, Jufeng surmised that the other party was likely a lawyer. Conversations were battles in their own right, and politicians and lawyers were undoubtedly among the best in such fields. The discussion was intense and lasted nearly a quarter of an hour; two more people joined midway for a multi-party conversation. Ganwen’s tone became resolute as rock, leaving no room for refusal. 0

Fortunately, the wait paid off with a favorable outcome. 0

"Tomorrow morning, you should go pick him up yourself. Just remember, you owe me another favor." 0

A slight sheen of sweat appeared on Ganwen's forehead; in such a comfortably warm Coffee House, this situation shouldn’t have arisen. It was evident how brutal the earlier battle had been. 0

Hearing Ganwen's somewhat helpless tone, Jufeng called over the waiter and ordered two cups of iced coffee, then expressed his gratitude: "In our relationship, talking about favors doesn’t hurt our feelings, does it? What do you mean by owing? Two cups of coffee can settle that." 0

Ganwen found himself at a loss with Jufeng. During their first two meetings, Romain had been as cold as ice, exuding hostility towards him. Yet now that they had become familiar with each other, Ganwen was surprised to discover that Jufeng was fundamentally… somewhat shameless! 0

Shaking his head in frustration, Ganwen lowered his gaze and took another couple of sips of coffee, feeling his mood lighten considerably. 0

He had to calm himself down because the issue he and Jufeng were about to discuss was serious, even more so than rescuing Chen Tan Hua. 0

"Can we put this matter aside for now? Our strength isn't sufficient to help you at the moment. If you really want to confront Pand Zhong head-on, it would be detrimental for you." 0

Ganwen knew that Jufeng was quite stubborn, as evidenced by the tone of his earlier words. If things didn't go his way, he likely wouldn't compromise. This made Ganwen particularly worried that Romain would rush into a confrontation with Pand Zhong. If that happened, as he had mentioned before, their efforts over the past half month with the Dragon Breaker Army could be wasted. 0

After speaking, Ganwen stared intently into Jufeng's eyes for a long moment before letting out a deep sigh. 0

In Romain's gaze, he saw an unwavering determination! 0

"Is it worth it?" Ganwen asked uneasily. 0

"If you could think about this issue from a different perspective, you might find it worthwhile," Jufeng replied nonchalantly, seemingly unfazed by the formidable opponent he would soon face. 0

Romain elegantly took a sip of coffee and then began to consider how Ganwen could mentally accept his approach. 0

"I've taken some time to understand the structure of the Cosmic Police. You're right; Pand Zhong is currently the largest Warlord. However, he's not the only player in the game; at least Chen Ziping's Xiao Hu Army is opposed to him. There are other commanders and generals as well. He won't have any chance to remove me from my position." 0

Ganwen acknowledged that Romain's reasoning was sound. Although there was a significant power disparity between Romain and Pand Zhong at present, it was far-fetched to think that Pand Zhong could simply oust Romain from his position. 0

"But," Ganwen said with a hint of sadness, "if that's the case, your path to rising might be a long one. He could easily keep you under pressure for a year or more." 0

Jufeng was currently in the spotlight, and Ganwen did not want to see the hard-won flames of enthusiasm die down to a flicker. 0

Jufeng smiled lightly, a hint of nostalgia in his voice as he said, "Is a year and a half a long time? If I do this thing that I feel is right, this period will only benefit me; it will never harm me." 0

Ganwen understood that he and Jufeng were fundamentally different. Romain could act on his whims, following his heart without regard for any consequences, living freely and easily. But for Ganwen, that was something he could never achieve. 0

At that moment, Ganwen felt a twinge of envy for Jufeng. 0

"Alright, I know I can't hold you back. I just hope you don't go too far; otherwise, it will truly be a case of mutual destruction." 0

The corners of Jufeng's mouth lifted slightly as he replied with a knowing look, "Don't worry; I will know my limits." 0
