After bidding farewell to Jufeng and Ganwen, he returned directly to the Dragon Breaker Army's base, locking himself in his room, lost in thought.
Late at night, Ouyang Chang entered but emerged again in just two minutes. Tian Feng also went in and had a deep conversation for about fifteen minutes; the two men chatted so joyfully that it seemed they reminisced about the past and discussed tips on pursuing women.
Both were men who had suffered "internal injuries."
The last to enter was Vera, and of course, Dawn had just come out.
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed into the room, Jufeng's eyes were already open. He hardly seemed dazed, much like the Morning Light at that moment.
After Vera got up, she didn't even pay attention to her own tired appearance; instead, she helped Jufeng groom himself, pulling out a brand new dark green military uniform, complete with shoulder insignia that indicated his rank as General.
Since Jufeng first arrived here, several sets of such uniforms had been prepared for him but had remained untouched in the wardrobe.
However, today was special; the people he would encounter were more formidable, so this uniform found its purpose.
Clothes make the man. Jufeng usually wore casual attire, but now that he suddenly donned the military uniform, his entire demeanor changed.
"Wind, you look really handsome in that dark green," Vera said.
"Hansome" is a term of praise that may not be particularly sophisticated but is certainly a step above pretty or good-looking. Such compliments are rare among ordinary couples due to shyness in expression.
Vera and Jufeng could be considered an old married couple. Despite having gone through many ups and downs, their feelings remained intertwined. Their words and actions felt sweet rather than awkward.
In the mirror, Jufeng appeared handsome with a well-built physique that suited him perfectly. The military uniform fit him well and truly embodied the term "handsome."
Jufeng turned around and embraced Vera, feeling somewhat apologetic as he said, "Until now, I haven't had many opportunities to be by your side. Each time we could only spend time together while on missions. I'm sorry, my wife."
Vera leaned against Jufeng's chest, inhaling his unique masculine scent with a smile. "Why say that? Wind, I'm already very content with how things are now. Life shouldn't have too many extravagant demands. Besides, if we were always together, we would both get used to it."
Being together doesn't equate to companionship or always being nestled together. Vera made a valid point; however, despite this reasoning being true, Jufeng always felt a sense of guilt in his heart.
"After this, I believe we will have many opportunities to be together. I hope our time together can be a bit longer."
Vera nodded, then said with some concern, "Feng, there will definitely be many experts around Pand Zhong. Be careful and don't push yourself too hard."
Jufeng smiled and replied, "Don't worry, I know my limits. I haven't had a good chance to stretch my muscles in a long time. Without gunfire and bullets, it's just the right time to relax."
Vera escorted Jufeng out of the room but did not continue to follow him. She lazily combed her hair, only wanting to show it to her husband, not to outsiders.
Outside, there was no lady to see him off, but a full array of male soldiers stood ready. Almost all the soldiers had gathered here, with the Dragon Breaker Army's banner waving proudly, exuding an extraordinary might.
Ouyang Chang and Qi Fa were at the front, alongside Sisi, Tian Feng, and the newly formed Royal Guard. A morning breeze blew through, causing the flags to flutter and resonate beautifully.
Jufeng looked at the fluttering Golden Dragon Flag, which was only half-mast today. He knew it was in mourning for the fallen Brothers.
On the front lines, during the Royal Guard's first duty, those Brothers had met untimely deaths that were shrouded in mystery.
No matter how one dies, there must be an explanation. If it is clear that one became a victim due to the schemes of those in power, only to be absurdly labeled with other reasons in the end, then the entire Dragon Breaker Army would find it unacceptable.
Now standing here were the Brothers who would stand at the gates of government.
Ouyang Chang stepped forward and said to Jufeng, "General, the Brothers want you to know that everyone stands behind you. You can rest assured. Our Dragon Breaker Army is not easy to bully; we were once, but now we are even less so."
Jufeng patted Ouyang Chang on the shoulder and took a step forward to stand side by side with him.
"Changchang, do you think what I'm doing is right?"
Ouyang Chang was puzzled by Jufeng's question and was momentarily taken aback without an immediate response.
Jufeng continued as if no one else were around: "In fact, just as I came out earlier, I still felt that this was merely my own responsibility issue. I thought it was just my own matter and even felt that what I was doing was somewhat impulsive and wrong."
"But until I saw everyone here, I suddenly realized—this matter cannot possibly be wrong."
"How could the will of the people be wrong!"
Jufeng addressed everyone with a powerful voice, "Brothers, I have been with the Dragon Breaker Army for over half a month now, and I haven't made any contributions. I feel quite guilty about that. Perhaps I lack ability, but I will not allow anyone to treat us, the Dragon Breaker Army, as fools. This time, I vow to seek justice for my Brothers."
Jufeng's voice was strong and resonant, echoing in the wind and reaching every soldier of the Dragon Breaker Army.
"Dragon Breaker Army! Dragon Breaker Army! Dragon Breaker Army!"
The crowd was stirred, their voices reverberating through the skies.
Amidst this tidal wave of sound, Jufeng stepped forward with a steady and confident stride.
Qi Fa approached Ouyang Chang's side and watched as Jufeng boarded a military vehicle. "Isn't this just a show to win hearts?" he remarked.
Ouyang Chang nodded but quickly changed his tone, saying, "Yet I still like it."
With that, Ouyang Chang left, leaving Qi Fa stunned in the wind.
Jufeng arrived at the temporary detention center of the Military Court. After waiting for a while, he saw Chen Tan Hua walk out from behind the large iron gate with his hands in his pockets, looking perfectly fine.
"Thank you."
After pondering for a moment, Jufeng decided that this was the most reliable expression of gratitude. Without Chen Tan Hua's seemingly reckless actions, there wouldn't have been so many soldiers to see him off.
Chen Tan Hua pulled his hands from his pockets and waved them dismissively. He then looked at Jufeng's outfit today and nodded in satisfaction.
"Are you going to find that old man?"
Jufeng nodded.
Chen Tan Hua smirked and casually walked towards the vehicle nearby, leaving behind a parting remark: "Be gentle; the old man can't take a beating."
Jufeng saw Chen Tan Hua's figure sitting in the car as it drove away, and he turned to get into his own vehicle.
At the Military Affairs Department, Pand Zhong's command center, several of his close subordinates were reporting on the news from outside.
"Commander, public opinion outside is very unfavorable for us, and the attitude of other military factions isn't great either. Do you think we need to take some measures?" one subordinate said with concern.
Pand Zhong listened and scoffed. He waved his hand dismissively and said, "Public opinion is just the ability of bored people to spread rumors; it has no substantial effect. We don't need to do anything. What can the Dragon Breaker Army do about this? Do they dare to hold me accountable?"
As soon as Pand Zhong finished speaking, there was a loud bang as the door was kicked open, and a figure appeared at the entrance.
