After a brief lunch break, the afternoon meeting was scheduled to begin. It was the same tedious repetition of similar topics, with only a few slightly interesting amendments and military proposals that would take an entire afternoon to be refined.
At the front, Liu Lei casually scanned the audience and noticed that one seat was conspicuously empty. He couldn't help but furrow his brow slightly.
This was a military and political meeting, a highly formal occasion. How could someone attend in the morning and then be absent in the afternoon?
What an unsettling factor! Liu Lei thought to himself.
In the middle of the room, Ouyang Chang was also feeling restless. Just moments ago, his dear Commander had abruptly left the meeting in a hurry with Vera, only giving him a brief explanation. Up until now, he still hadn’t grasped the situation.
Ouyang Chang pondered whether something had happened on Earth. Everything seemed to be running smoothly at Magellan Star; there shouldn't be any issues.
Lost in thought for a while, Ouyang Chang's pocket suddenly vibrated twice. He glanced around and saw that everyone’s attention was focused at the front before discreetly pulling out his phone.
It was a message from Jufeng.
"You are fully responsible for military matters; consult with civilization regarding political affairs. My daughter has been taken by Huankezhao; it must be resolved quickly. Keep in touch with Liu Gulang at all times."
Three simple lines, yet Ouyang Chang found it impossible to calm his mind. The implications were too significant— Jufeng's daughter and Huankezhao? What kind of connection was this?
During their interactions over the past two years, Jufeng had mentioned his daughter in passing; she sounded like a clever and spirited beauty. Unlike his own son, he seemed to have a deeper emotional bond with her.
But why would Huankezhao abduct her? Was it to threaten Jufeng? It seemed unlikely that Shangguan Wangyu would stoop to such tactics; he didn’t strike Ouyang Chang as someone who would resort to such shamelessness.
Wasn't Hear the Command dead? Who else would act so disgracefully?
Unable to make sense of it all, Ouyang Chang decided not to dwell on it. He silently prayed that this incident wouldn’t have too great an impact on Jufeng.
Meanwhile, Jufeng was aboard a ship heading toward the border, following the quickest route chosen by Liu Gulang. He had prepared everything well in advance when he called Jufeng —truly deserving of being called Jufeng's most considerate subordinate.
Vera looked at Jufeng, who appeared anxious beside her. It had been a long time since she had seen such an expression on his face.
"Don't worry, Wind. Since Huankezhao is only capturing people, it means Chuyang will be safe—at least for now, their life is not in danger. This isn't our first time going to Magellanic Star; we will definitely rescue Chuyang."
Vera held Jufeng's hand tightly. At this moment, only the person beside him could provide the greatest comfort.
Feeling the strength in her grip and listening to Vera's reassuring words, Jufeng's expression eased considerably. However, a hint of worry still lingered between his brows.
According to the information relayed from Earth by Liu Gulang, Huankezhao's arrival was quite sudden and clearly not a spur-of-the-moment decision; they had been investigating for a long time.
Jufeng recalled the content of the earlier message, and images from that moment flashed through his mind.
Most of the Five Manners were busy studying mechas, and the longest time was spent with Yin Mo accompanying Chuyang; the siblings got along very well.
However, not long ago, Chuyang had gone to school with Yin Mo, and naturally, many Azure Wind Antelopes were watching over them. Yet an accident still occurred.
A large group of people appeared from various directions, intending to target Yin Mo. Chuyang, with her strong-willed nature, immediately stepped up to protect her brother. At that moment, Azure Wind Antelopes emerged from the shadows, taking down these attackers before they could escape. Some stayed behind to provide protection while others pursued.
This was when the real assassins arrived—not ordinary ones; they were armed even in Huaguo, resembling a mercenary force.
Bullets are always swifter than guns, so despite Azure Wind Antelope's desperate defense, they could only endure the hail of gunfire and suffer casualties.
Thus, they captured Chuyang and left Yin Mo behind.
Fortunately, Yin Mo did not abandon her. He fought bravely to rescue Chuyang and managed to knock out two attackers during the ambush. Unfortunately, he was ultimately outnumbered.
The reinforcements from Azure Wind Antelope arrived just in time, saving Yin Mo from dire consequences; however, he sustained a bullet wound to his side that penetrated deep into his body.
Jufeng's eyes were filled with tears, not only for Yin Mo's bravery but also for the worry surrounding Chuyang.
If Yin Mo were to die, how could he explain it to the deceased Jia'er? What face would he have to meet in the afterlife?
Vera gently stood up and then crouched in front of Jufeng. He had his head bowed, slightly choked with emotion.
"It's not your fault," Vera said softly.
"But how can it not be my fault? If it weren't for Yin Mo's last effort to save two people, we wouldn't even know who our enemy is. I am his father, his only guardian, yet I failed to protect him and I failed to protect Chuyang. I am truly incompetent."
Vera embraced Jufeng, her voice trembling as she comforted him, "Wind, you are fighting for the cause of the whole world. Yin Mo and Chuyang will understand; they will understand."
Since they had bought their tickets at the last minute, they were seated among many other passengers. The people around them watched the two embrace, unsure if they were crying or not, and various speculations arose in their minds.
But the sentiment was the same: sympathy and pity. This young couple not only loved each other but surely had a touching reason for their tears.
At that moment, in the Magellanic Star, at the headquarters of Huankezhao, it was still the prince's office, offering a panoramic view of the entire city.
Shangguan Wangyu sat in his seat, with Tony standing behind him, having just reported on the situation on Earth.
Stealing a glance at Shangguan Wangyu, Tony was quite surprised; he hadn't expected Shangguan Wangyu to be acting strangely today. Earlier, there had been a mishap with the team sent to Earth—two members had been captured—but instead of being angry, Shangguan Wangyu seemed somewhat… anxious.
Was it because of that woman? It was surprising that after all these years, she still held such power over the prince.
In the entire Cosmos, she was indeed one of a kind.
Shangguan Wangyu paid no attention to Tony's concerns; he was lost in thought about having captured Chuyang. His gaze was fixed outside the window, but his mind seemed to drift into another dimension entirely.
"More than ten years have passed, really, more than ten years. How many ten-year spans are there in life? I am still thinking of you, do you know?"
Huankezhao was searching for someone. Although it was done in secret, many people were aware of it. Ever since Jufeng first arrived at Magellanic Star, the search had begun, and now, more than ten years had flown by.
Now, he had finally found them. One could only imagine the joy that came with it.
Shangguan Wangyu murmured to herself, gradually feeling her eyes well up with tears that began to fall.
Behind her, Tony watched this scene in shock, unable to regain his composure for a long time.
In the vastness of the Cosmos, a spaceship was striving to fly forward, inside which a beautiful woman was crying inconsolably, looking utterly alone.
In the vastness of the Cosmos, there was also a transport ship flying in solitude. Onboard was a young man bearing a sword on his back, gazing at the starry sky with sorrowful eyes.
