Jufeng led Liu Xing out of the room and made their way to a slum far from the city center. The term "slum" was relative; it was a place where people had enough to eat but struggled to enjoy life.
The slum was relatively dirty, and in a place where gold seemed to be everywhere, only the lazy would end up here. As for the elderly, those who were lonely and without family, that was another story altogether.
Liu Xing looked around at the fruit peels scattered on the ground and the rotten leftovers that emitted a foul stench. He hurriedly pulled out a package from his Guitar Case, which contained a woven silk cloth, and handed it to Vera.
" Chuyang never leaves home without these things; she has a bit of a cleanliness obsession."
Vera took the delicate handkerchief and covered her mouth and nose, growing even fonder of Liu Xing. Part of it was due to his thoughtfulness and care, while another part stemmed from his pure feelings for Chuyang.
Liu Xing was undoubtedly a model of devotion.
However, in comparison, Jufeng seemed somewhat lacking in this regard.
Sensing that the atmosphere was shifting unfavorably, Jufeng noticed that Liu Xing was still lost in his melancholic thoughts and completely oblivious to the situation. He quickened his pace and awkwardly said, "Um, it's just ahead; let's hurry up. The environment here is too poor."
Vera smiled slightly, no longer troubled by the sentimental Jufeng. She found it amusing to see him flustered, which brightened her mood considerably.
In this dilapidated area, even the building numbers were hard to discern. The three of them exerted considerable effort before finally locating their destination.
They climbed the stairs to the third floor of one building and approached the innermost room, gently knocking on the door.
A young man opened the door, looking somewhat familiar.
The moment the man saw Jufeng, his eyes lit up, as if he had just encountered a winning lottery ticket worth five million.
"Brother Jufeng, you don't remember me?" The young man noticed Jufeng's confusion and, instead of feeling hurt, he cheerfully reminded him, "You were shot in the shoulder back then..."
Before the young man could finish his sentence, Jufeng suddenly recalled and hurriedly said, "Oh, I remember now! My savior, how could I forget?"
Back then, Jufeng had been ambushed by Hear the Command and was shot in the shoulder. Thanks to this young man’s guidance, he managed to find Old Horse and connect with a chance to return home.
"But weren't you at Delta Star before? How did you end up here?"
The young man ushered Jufeng and his companions inside and smiled, "Ever since I saved Brother Jufeng, Uncle Ma has kept me by his side."
It was quite a connection; because he saved Jufeng, he had avoided many detours and had risen through the ranks swiftly—an unspoken way of repaying Jufeng.
Without wasting much time, the young man went out to fetch Old Horse. This place was merely a stopover; Old Horse had chosen to stay behind to manage the Hurricane Brothers so that one day he could lend a helping hand—like today.
By the time Old Horse arrived, night had fallen deeply. Liu Xing saw Uncle Ma after more than ten years apart, and his emotions were reignited.
Time had rolled on relentlessly; Old Horse had indeed aged. The white hairs at his temples were increasingly noticeable, and the wrinkles around his eyes were particularly deep.
Seeing Young Master again nearly brought Old Horse to tears. He had watched Liu Xing grow up until Liu Gulang followed Bright Lord, which was when Liu Xing slipped from his sight.
In a flash, too many memories flooded back.
Wiping away his tears amidst the poignant atmosphere of time passing, everyone began discussing matters concerning Chuyang. This reunion after many years wasn't truly a gathering; it was merely due to certain circumstances that they found themselves fortunate enough to come together. Perhaps this is what life is all about.
"Brother Jufeng, as soon as you left Magellan Star, the Lone Wolf sent me a message. After some investigation, it turns out there are indeed some findings."
Jufeng and Liu Xing listened intently, their expressions growing more serious as Old Horse elaborated.
"The search for Huankezhao has been ongoing in the shadows; I only received this news today. It has been going on for over ten years. The first year it began was the same year Brother Jufeng passed through our Pirate Star. So, in a sense, Huankezhao's capture of Sister Chuyang is not necessarily a threat to Brother Jufeng; it’s likely because Sister Chuyang resembles the person they are looking for."
Old Horse spoke clearly and concisely. Liu Xing might not have fully grasped the situation at that moment, but Jufeng was genuinely shocked.
The first time Jufeng encountered Chuyang was indeed that same year. On that spaceship, all the officers were searching for Chuyang. Afterward, no one mentioned it again, and fortunately, it was forgotten. But now, looking back, how could it have been so simple?
Old Horse's words were quite subtle; after searching for ten years, Huankezhao finally confirmed it was Chuyang. It couldn't just be a matter of resemblance. If his assumptions were correct, they had likely been searching for Chuyang all along.
But why? Was Chuyang a love child of the Shangguan Family? There had never been such rumors! What could be the reason?
Jufeng pondered this for a moment before turning to Old Horse, urging him to continue.
"Huankezhao has kept their information tightly sealed. So far, aside from what I've shared, we haven't found any valuable leads. The only related incident is that some researchers unexpectedly died that year—researchers who were quite prominent in the field of chips."
This lead seemed to lack practical value; it was hard to imagine what specific connection could exist based solely on this information.
Jufeng recalled the spaceship he had traveled on and thought perhaps there were clues to be found there.
"Old Horse, when we left Earth, we took a military spaceship, and my first meeting with Chuyang was also there. Please get in touch with Earth and conduct a thorough investigation into this matter."
Old Horse nodded in agreement; this lead was equally important.
With the clues currently in hand, it can only be proven that Chuyang should be relatively safe for now. However, regardless of Huankezhao's reasons for capturing Chuyang, rescuing him is the most urgent matter.
"Old Horse, you need to continue the investigation. Also, can you find a way for me to infiltrate Huankezhao? There's absolutely no chance of barging in; we can only look for opportunities from within."
Old Horse pondered for a moment and said, "We might be able to find a way into Huankezhao's external area. We have a brother who has some connections with their security department; he could help us get a security job there. But it's too risky for Brother Jufeng to go in, considering there are quite a few people in Huankezhao who know you."
Jufeng was naturally aware of this issue but felt uneasy about not going himself. At that moment, Liu Xing spoke up beside him, "Dad, let me go."
Jufeng looked into Liu Xing's determined eyes and nodded in agreement. Suddenly, he thought of someone who might also be able to help.
"Old Horse, arrange things for Star. Make sure to prioritize safety. Also, please contact Zhan Xingzi for me; I want to meet him."
