Zhan Xingzi watched Jufeng's back, suddenly feeling a flutter in his heart.
"Perhaps you don't know yet, but I also have a child now. It's a daughter, eight months old, and she's particularly adorable."
Jufeng turned back to look at Zhan Xingzi. He thought to himself that no wonder Zhan's demeanor seemed off today; it was not as frivolous as before. It must be the influence of becoming a father for the first time.
"Congratulations!"
Jufeng said sincerely.
Zhan Xingzi also stood up, looking at Jufeng, surprised to find they had something in common as fathers.
"Considering we are both fathers, I've decided to help you out. In a couple of days, I have a business team going to Huankezhao for an investigation. We'll be holding a meeting on the Sixth Floor. That place is usually where Shangguan Wangyu hosts guests for accommodation, so you can blend in there. As for whether you can rescue anyone, that's up to you."
Jufeng looked at Zhan Xingzi, thinking about how everyone's temperament can change. Life is filled with experiences that can alter a person's behavior and thought patterns.
"Thank you."
With that, Jufeng left, and Zhan Xingzi naturally did not linger in this troublesome place any longer.
When he returned home that evening, Liu Xing shared some news with him. It coincided with what Zhan Xingzi had mentioned about the Sixth Floor, making the accuracy of this information trustworthy.
Liu Xing had originally planned to go with Jufeng but was turned down. It wasn't a matter of distrust; it was simply that the chances of success this time were extremely low. If he failed and exposed Liu Xing in the process, it would be even worse.
The next day, Liu Xing went to work at Huankezhao as usual. Whenever he had the chance, he would scout the Sixth Floor; if not, he would silently pray for Chuyang.
News also came back from Earth. With the current hurricane affecting all of Huaguo, investigating this matter was still manageable.
The result revealed that the warship from years ago was indeed funded by Huankezhao. It had stayed on Earth for a while before returning to Huankezhao. What it specifically did on Earth remains unknown.
All signs indicated an inseparable connection between Chuyang and the inhumane Huankezhao plan. This made Jufeng increasingly anxious, unwilling to let Chuyang suffer any longer.
Fortunately, Zhan Xingzi did not keep him waiting long. The next day, he delivered news to Jufeng, accompanied by a detailed map of Huankezhao.
The detailed map in Zhan Xingzi's hands was different from those outside or within Huankezhao. Although he was an outsider, the map he held was the most accurate.
Once again, it would involve past entanglements, but unfortunately, as people grow up, childhood fades away.
That afternoon, Jufeng disguised himself as an accompanying staff member and entered the Huankezhao building. Dressed in a suit and shoes, he appeared invigorated.
Vera and Old Horse's team were waiting outside. Their previous cooperation had been quite effective, and he hoped this time would be no different.
Coincidentally, Liu Xing was also on the night shift that day, and not in a remote location as before but in a more advantageous space in the middle.
As Jufeng ascended the stairs, he briefly crossed paths with Liu Xing.
The tacit understanding between father and son was impeccable; neither noticed anything amiss.
After reaching the Five Stories, Jufeng joined everyone in a conference room for a meeting. As just an assistant, he did not attract attention and discreetly slipped away midway to begin his exploration of Huankezhao.
He hurriedly retraced Liu Xing's steps through numerous turns. They had already communicated beforehand, so there was no need to waste time here.
Arriving at a location Liu Xing had not reached, Jufeng began to search earnestly. Just as he was about to delve deeper into his search, he spotted Shangguan Wangyu and a girl through a glass wall several dozen meters away.
Seeing that familiar purple hair, Jufeng forcibly suppressed his impulse and refrained from rushing over.
At that moment, Liu Xing happened to stroll over casually. He did not initially notice Jufeng but instead focused on Chuyang in the distance.
He froze for two seconds before almost sprinting down a corridor, intending to rush toward Chuyang.
Jufeng could see clearly, a single tear blossoming in the place he had just left.
Liu Xing saw Chuyang and completely forgot everything, even neglecting Jufeng in the corner.
When Liu Xing ran over, Jufeng acted swiftly, grabbing Liu Xing by the back and pulling him into a concealed spot.
Due to Liu Xing's incredible speed, Jufeng's fingernails slightly curled, leaving three deep marks on Liu Xing's back.
Upon realizing that it was Jufeng who had grabbed him, Liu Xing felt as if he had found someone to confide in. He exclaimed desperately, "Dad, did you see? That’s Chuyang! That’s Chuyang! We have to save her, quickly!"
Jufeng looked at the somewhat crazed Liu Xing and the tears glistening in his eyes, feeling a deep sadness within.
For over a decade, Liu Xing had been inseparable from Chuyang; who could understand such a love that ran to the bone? Even the phrase "unwavering devotion" could not fully encapsulate it.
That was ten years of companionship—not just a phase in life but the most youthful decade during which one’s values were formed.
The craziest ten years.
The purest ten years.
The most heartfelt ten years.
Indeed, such a decade comes only once.
"Calm down, Star. We all saw it; Chuyang is fine—really fine. If you act recklessly now, all our efforts will be in vain. Trust us; we will definitely rescue Chuyang," Jufeng reassured him.
As Liu Xing listened to Jufeng's comforting words, tears fell one by one. In that moment when Jufeng grabbed him, he regained his composure and realized his rashness; no matter how he looked at it, he should remain patient.
However, his heart was truly heavy. It was the first time in his life that he had been away from Chuyang for such a long time, the first time he didn’t know her joys or sorrows. Finally seeing her again stirred an impulse within him that was impossible to suppress.
Enduring is truly difficult!
In the embrace of Jufeng, Liu Xing gradually calmed down after a while. Just then, footsteps approached nearby. Jufeng and Liu Xing stood up, pretending to be old friends engaged in conversation.
As the footsteps drew closer, a pair of people passed by, and Jufeng and Liu Xing returned to their previous demeanor.
Jufeng wiped away the tear stains at the corner of Liu Xing's eyes. When they looked towards the distance again, there was no trace of Chuyang.
Jufeng said to Liu Xing, "Star, you need to conceal your identity well; this will make it easier to see Chuyang. Wait for me; I will go save her."
After leaving Liu Xing, Jufeng headed in that direction. Liu Xing watched Jufeng's retreating figure and returned to normal.
