A loud roar echoed throughout the Cat Ear Cliff camp. 0

Within the camp, over a thousand people trembled in fear, knowing that their doom was imminent. The Second and Third Tier Zombies, held captive by Guo Yi, were about to be released, and those terrifying Fellows were coming down from the mountain. 0

Meanwhile, the Superpowered Individual team in the Gathering Place had yet to be formed. Everyone stared at the fruit atop the man-eating flower, still unpicked. 0

"Die!" Zheng Yifan shouted as he charged toward the swaying Third-Stage Zombie. 0

Taking advantage of the Zombie's moment of confusion was the best strategy. Zheng Yifan had never faced a Third-Stage Zombie head-on before, but dealing with Second-Level Zombies was still relatively easy for him. 0

As long as he avoided the Scorpion Tail's strikes, he could easily take them down. 0

The strength of Second-Level Zombies had not significantly increased, but Third-Stage Zombies were different; only a crossbow or a Ballista could pierce through them, requiring immense kinetic energy. 0

Now was the time to validate his thoughts. 0

Zheng Yifan leaped into the air. As the Zombie's tail was still entangled around him, he swiftly hurled his Adamantium Shield. At that moment, he pressed down hard on the Third-Stage Zombie's tail with both hands and flicked it inward. 0

The tail was perfectly tied in a knot. 0

Then came the Adamantium Shield. The sharp edge of the shield sliced into the Zombie's neck, getting stuck in place. 0

The Zombie's neck did not snap; instead, it became lodged against its vertebrae, and as Zheng Yifan continued to rotate the shield, it kept cutting deeper. 0

"Move!" Zheng Yifan slid to the side of the Zombie and delivered a powerful side kick right to its forehead. 0

The pain was excruciating, but what excited Zheng Yifan even more was that the Zombie was ultimately evolved from humans; its neck was still composed of vertebrae linked together. 0

The connection point in the middle was the most vulnerable spot. 0

"Roar!" The Zombie awakened, its neck nearly severed, with only a thin strand of tissue still connecting its head. Despite this, the Zombie retained its lethal power. Before Zheng Yifan could react, its right fist struck his chest like a flash of light. 0

"Thud!" A mouthful of blood sprayed into the air. The Adamantium Shield returned to his hand. 0

The Zombie glared at Zheng Yifan with bloodshot eyes, its body trembling as it struggled to break free from its restraints. 0

The five-meter-long tail mace wrapped around it had turned its entire body into a cocoon, rendering it immobile. It could only extend its hands and claw at Zheng Yifan while shaking uncontrollably. 0

The tail mace swung back and forth, tightening its grip even more, constricting its own body further. 0

Observing the Zombie, Zheng Yifan gained new insights. This Zombie, or at least any below the Third Stage, lacked pain receptors. The Zombie before him had torn through its outer muscle yet continued to contract its tail mace. Furthermore, the intelligence of Third Stage or lower Zombies was concerning; despite having a faint semblance of intellect, it was insufficient for it to consider how to escape or untangle itself. 0

"Stupid Zombie, die!" After a moment's observation, the boiling blood in Zheng Yifan's chest began to settle. 0

Just moments ago, the Zombie's casual strike had been over a thousand pounds of force, easily breaking several of Zheng Yifan's ribs. 0

Fortunately, the Super Soldier Serum granted him remarkable recovery abilities, allowing him to heal gradually on his own. 0

Otherwise, with such severe injuries, he would have faced significant trouble ahead. 0

He noticed that around him, Second-Level Zombies were beginning to recover. The Scorpion Tail shot straight up into the air, its two eyes scanning everything within its limited field of vision while its nose twitched, constantly sniffing for scents. 0

Fortunately for him, they had been submerged in water for an extended period and were slow to recover. Even better was that the ground was soaked with water; Zheng Yifan's scent was masked by the moisture, making it difficult for them to locate their target. 0

However, this did not mean they lacked a general direction. 0

The Third-Stage Zombie struggled fiercely, its roar echoing loudly, but what attracted them the most was not the Third-Stage Zombie itself, but Zheng Yifan. At that moment, Zheng Yifan's heart raced. Although he was engulfed in the struggle of the Third-Stage Zombie, he was still detected by these auditory-sensitive Zombies. 0

"Roar!" The Third-Stage Zombie roared like a king, and then suddenly, its body began to disintegrate. 0

Zheng Yifan quickly turned his head, a sudden realization dawning on him. 0

No! 0

This Third-Stage Zombie was not choking itself; rather, its tail hammer was slowly shrinking, gradually withering away. Then, with a shudder, it transformed into a flurry of green light that scattered onto the ground, making the grass beneath even greener. A few wilting wildflowers suddenly burst forth with vibrant life, displaying their most beautiful colors. 0

"Roar! Roar! Roar!" Three roars announced its displeasure as its eyes fixed intently on Zheng Yifan. 0

Zheng Yifan saw it! This Third-Stage Zombie was undergoing a transformation. 0

It truly was a transformation; those blood-red eyes that had long been murky gradually became bright as the tail hammer regressed. The wounds on its body also began to heal slowly. 0

To Zheng Yifan, this Zombie was adapting to its environment, slowly changing itself after reaching a dead end. 0

Just now, it was the tail hammer that limited its mobility and water that restricted its sense of smell and hearing. 0

Now, as its tail hammer gradually regressed, its muscles began to recover, and its vision slowly evolved. 0

It was astonishing; Zombies were the most adaptable creatures in this world. They could adjust themselves to better fit their current environment at any time. 0

Upon closer inspection, the Zombies beside him and the Third-Stage Zombie were unlike any he had seen before. These Zombies had faint scales on their bodies, and their hands and feet had evolved into webbed appendages that were fused together. 0

Beneath their noses, two antennae had sprouted, writhing as if they were alive, constantly exploring the information around them. 0

This was a significant discovery, directly related to the future hope of the Survivors. 0

However, as time passed in this apocalyptic world, Zheng Yifan felt increasingly desperate. The Zombies were evolving too quickly; could humanity truly eradicate them? 0

In just a few minutes, the Zombie in front of him could shed certain traits and evolve new ones. 0

Such speed was undoubtedly astonishing. 0

"Die!" Taking a step forward, Zheng Yifan knew that this Zombie could see him now. 0

But he had to take the gamble, betting on his ability to take down this Zombie because behind him, dozens of Second-Level Zombies were ready to attack at any moment. The Third-Stage Zombie before him had completed its evolution and could clearly see Zheng Yifan's position. 0

Although gaining sight meant that this Third-Stage Zombie had given up its most powerful attack method, its sturdy body and immense strength still instilled fear in Zheng Yifan. 0

Yet Zheng Yifan had no choice; he had to take a risk. Life or death hinged on this moment. 0
