The battle raged fiercely, with flames of war everywhere. 0

In Zheng Yifan's world, there was a movie that began with the notion that humans are called "humans" because they can wield fire. 0

Now, Zheng Yifan felt deeply that while humans could use fire, Low-Level Zombies had no place in this world. Unless they regained their intelligence. 0

Second-Level Zombies were also weakened, but the Third-Stage Zombies remained unchanged. In fact, the Third-Stage Zombies seemed to have a sense of rebirth through fire; as the flames burned away their excess fat, their scales became even harder, and the skin on their faces gradually peeled away, leaving only pure muscle. 0

Some fine scales appeared to be growing from their muscles. 0

It seemed they were about to advance. 0

Zheng Yifan now faced such Third-Stage Zombies directly. Not just one, but a dozen of them. 0

The dozen Third-Stage Zombies were scattered across the battlefield, obstructed by countless Net Guns. Given the chance, they would charge forward. 0

The warriors fought while retreating, maintaining sufficient strategic depth. After nearly a week of combat, most of the resorts had been cleared, leaving only the last stubborn resistance at the very center—the Short and Stout Building. The Big Sphere above it was particularly terrifying; if any major issue arose here and the Giant Sphere fell, casualties would be catastrophic. 0

Thus, in this area of battle, they tried to lure the Zombies away from the central Short and Stout Building onto the streets before encircling them. The Third-Stage Zombies were to be drawn out but not eliminated, leaving them for Zheng Yifan to handle. 0

Among everyone present, only Zheng Yifan could deal with them. It was absolutely unsuitable to use heavy Ballistae here; any damage caused to the buildings would be difficult for them to repair. 0

A Second-Level Zombie met its end in one of the trenches on the ground. Once they fell in, there was no way out. 0

The statistician had long since handed over the Zombie Crystal s to Zheng Yifan. Now he held enough Zombie Crystal s to equal over 94,000 First-Level Zombie Crystal s. 0

He was just 6,000 short of advancing again. 0

After using these Zombie Crystal s, his physical strength increased once more. Although limited, his control over Vital Energy allowed him to gain a better understanding of the Wildfire Spreading technique. 0

Facing the Third-Stage Zombie, Zheng Yifan no longer jumped around like a monkey; he stood firmly on the ground as if rooted. 0

Zheng Yifan had grown accustomed to the presence of zombies. From the first time he arrived in this post-apocalyptic world, when he constantly vomited, to now, where it felt completely normal—just two short months had passed, yet the experiences he had gone through surpassed an ordinary person's entire lifetime. 0

"Let's fight!" Zheng Yifan thought it was time to test his understanding of Wildfire Spreading. Until he inherited a more powerful technique, this was his strongest move. The other techniques paled in comparison, even the increasingly refined Rainbow Piercing the Sun and Han Xin's Troops could not compete with the Vital Energy-infused Wildfire Spreading. 0

"Roar!" The Zombie charged at Zheng Yifan, roaring as it ran. Its speed was astonishing, rivaling that of an Olympic champion in the Post-Apocalypse. 0

It was important to note that the weight of a Third-Stage Zombie was formidable, especially with its tail hammer affecting its balance. Yet it still moved with such speed, indicating that these Third-Stage Zombies were on the verge of advancing to Fourth-Stage Zombies. 0

As the Zombie advanced, a burst of fierce flames suddenly appeared at the tip of Zheng Yifan's gun. Sparks flickered, faint and elusive, as if they might extinguish at any moment. 0

However, he recited the first four lines of "The Grass on the Ancient Plain Sends Off Friends" in his heart, capturing the essence of this technique perfectly. 0

The grass on the plain grows and withers each year. 0

Wildfires cannot consume it all; spring winds bring new life. 0

With a swift pull of the trigger, it was as if countless sparks scattered across the prairie. The flames surged violently and powerfully. As the fire ignited and burned, the gun's tip sliced across the Zombie's neck. The raging flames condensed sharply, resembling a blade; only when the technique was retracted did the flames truly erupt. 0

At that moment on the Zombie's neck, flames shot out from around the Zombie Crystal. Even though it did not sever the Tibia, those flames wreaked havoc inside, forcing the Zombie Crystal out from the Zombie's neck. 0

Next, Zheng Yifan did not bother to check whether the Third-Stage Zombie was dead; he rushed toward his next battlefield. His fight had only just begun, and there were tougher opponents waiting for him ahead. 0

With just one move, he ended a Zombie's life. The fallen body immediately transformed into green liquid before warriors rushed forward with hand pumps to collect it into plastic bags before sending it off on a Tricycle toward the nearby man-eating flowers. 0

This was excellent nourishment; over twenty man-eating flowers had already bloomed and borne fruit. Zheng Yifan gathered these fruits for military merit exchange within their ranks. Currently, Li Ning's team had amassed the most military merit from clearing main pathways. Out of fifty assigned members for their mission, over ten had perished while thirty-two remained utterly exhausted—but their efforts were worthwhile; each had achieved merits exceeding five digits. 0

The most astonishing among them was Li Ning, who had reached over forty thousand merits. However, his current state was quite grim; despite still fighting on the front lines, everyone who looked at him saw a demonic figure staring into an abyss. 0

The truth was indeed as such; the once handsome Li Ning no longer existed. Now, he resembled a devil emerging from the abyss, his clothes haphazardly draped over him, most of them tattered and worn. His bald head bore the marks of burns, and the scars on his face were even more severe, still wrapped in bandages. 0

What was most terrifying was his left hand, which had been severed at the wrist. Despite this, he still had to go to battle; he had reasons that compelled him to fight. 0

Only by maintaining his position as the top performer did he have a chance for rebirth from the ashes. Even though he could already exchange for B-Rank Essence, it still came with only an 80% success rate. He could bear the risk, but his family could not; neither could the family of the brother whose life he owed. 0

In their five-man team, only four remained. One comrade had died during a battle while shielding him from a Third-Stage Zombie's tail strike. It was during that fight that a Second-Level Zombie had pounced on him, throwing him into raging flames while its foul mouth sank into his left hand. 0

At that moment of being bitten, he resolutely used his companion's short blade to sever his own left hand before dispatching the Second-Level Zombie. 0

He was subsequently rescued by Zheng Yifan. 0

However, his companion had died—a tragic death. The Third-Stage Zombie's tail had smashed into his body, reducing him to a pulp; they could hardly find a single intact bone. 0

He vowed to take good care of his companion's younger brother, having silently resolved that once his Military Merit reached 50,000, he would exchange for a bottle of A-Level Essence for that brother and apply for him to use it. As for his own injuries, he needed the prize for first place in this competition. 0

He had to fight with all his might; there were reasons compelling him to do so. Moreover, he owed a life to his brother and could not afford to fail. 0

He also owed favors to the other surviving brothers. To help him win the championship and earn rewards, the other three comrades had fought desperately alongside him, even at the cost of their own lives. 0

“Ha!” He could only choke out a roar, like air escaping from a punctured balloon. His throat was burned and rendered unable to speak. His body was sustained solely by sheer willpower; today was the final assault—the outcome hinged on this moment. He would not allow himself to fail; absolutely not. 0

Before him stood a Second-Level Zombie, moving with incredible speed and wielding its Scorpion Tail menacingly. Yet in his eyes, these threats meant nothing; all he saw was the Zombie's throat. 0

With his right hand gripping the spear at an angle, he lunged sideways. The Zombie landed where he had just been standing as he deftly thrust the spear at the Second-Level Zombie’s neck. 0

That gentle jab brought about a fatal effect; the spear tip seemed almost sentient as it struck precisely at the joint with its Tibia. Although the Zombie Crystal of this Second-Level Zombie was more tightly connected than that of a First-Level Zombie, under this skillful thrust, it flew straight up before being flicked away by his spear towards his remaining comrade behind him. 0

The surviving Sword and Shield Bearer stepped forward to swat away the airborne Zombie to prevent any accidental injury; that Scorpion Tail was particularly troublesome as it flailed about in mid-air. 0

Li Ning had set his sights on the next target. 0

From a distance, Zheng Yifan watched Li Ning's shooting skills and nodded silently. His shooting technique lacked any flair; it was merely the most basic of actions. Yet, in the face of life and death, he seemed to have grasped much. Each shot was simple and swift, a testament to military training—no frills, just straightforward thrusts, jabs, and points. It was nothing like the complex maneuvers described in the Lin Family Spear Technique, which involved a myriad of intricate moves that seemed almost impossible to master before one could truly excel at the few essential forms. 0

However, what impressed Zheng Yifan even more was Li Ning's indomitable will. His burns were classified as fourth or fifth-degree; although he had received basic treatment, it was far from professional care and could even leave him disabled. Zheng Yifan had considered preemptively giving him a bottle of A-Level Essence. 0

Yet, Li Ning resolutely stepped forward, declaring his intent to continue fighting. He applied ointment to his wounds and wrapped himself in bandages, heading back into battle despite his injuries. 0

While others might step back with minor injuries, he was severely wounded yet still engaged in combat. An ordinary person would have fainted by now, but he pressed on. 0

The soldiers behind him who recorded Military Merit had already received orders: if Li Ning fell unconscious due to his injuries, they were to immediately inform Zheng Yifan, who would then administer Essence to him. 0

Zheng Yifan hoped that Li Ning could hold on until the very last moment because he had a premonition that the longer this battle persisted, the more powerful the activated Superpower would become. Moreover, Li Ning's resolve would only strengthen. 0

After all, with the miraculous effects of Essence—capable of revitalizing and repairing any bodily damage—he believed in Li Ning's potential. 0

With a smile as he looked at Li Ning, Zheng Yifan plunged into the next battlefield; the Third-Stage Zombie was his target. Moreover, he was close to gathering enough Zombie Crystal s for his next upgrade. 0

Note: Essence Liquid Time-Space Barrier is derived from Mutated Plants that extract active cells from Zombies and enhance them with Vital Energy and potential activation cells—179 types of cells reinforced to create a special Essence body. It possesses capabilities such as cellular regeneration, revitalization of tissues, reconstruction of limbs, elimination of hidden ailments, lifespan extension, enhancement of life essence, unlocking genetic locks for evolution, and treatment for most diseases. The probability of activating Superpower is proportional to the level of Essence used. However, failure in evolution carries a high risk of becoming a Zombie or even dying outright; there is also a significant chance of incomplete evolution (which can still be completed using Essence). 0
