When the succulent beef sizzled on the iron plate, releasing a tantalizing aroma as the curling meat began to emit its mouthwatering scent, it officially announced that a delicious feast was about to grace the table. 0

In this post-apocalyptic world, such a meal was one of the rarest treasures. Fan Bing never imagined she would be so moved by something as ordinary as barbecue. 0

A little dipping sauce paired with the juicy grilled meat was the best gift one could ask for. Most of the people in the room were members of the Explorer Alliance, clad in their battle gear. 0

They often had opportunities to encounter fortunes and earn substantial sums of money, allowing them to indulge in luxuries. 0

Barbecue was clearly one of the finest pleasures. It wasn't overly expensive, yet it allowed them to enjoy a hearty meal. 0

They sipped their drinks, sharing tales of their adventures and discussing upcoming battles. With everyone preparing for war, they were no exception; this was a moment of relaxation before the storm. 0

"Eat up! This is one of the few times you can enjoy a free meal. After today, I won't have the chance to savor such delicious food again; I need to save up Military Merit for my Psychic Weapon," Liang Xiaoyu remarked while munching on his food. 0

Outside, the enticing aroma of meat drew countless onlookers. These were individuals leading newly arrived beauties to explore the Gathering Place, helping them familiarize themselves with their surroundings and fostering a sense of belonging, which would encourage them to strive for higher status. 0

"Look! Isn't that Fan Bing?" A star from the post-apocalypse sniffed the air enviously as she gazed at Fan Bing inside. 0

"She's a lucky girl. The soldier next to her is a genuine Superpowered Individual. He was quite valued when he first gained his Superpower, but he hasn't had a chance to use it since," explained another soldier beside her. 0

He then glanced at the shabby appearance of the women beside him. They could only grit their teeth and treat them to some street food. 0

If they couldn't afford barbecue, they could at least enjoy some meat sandwiches. Street food was abundant; it didn't have to be anything particularly expensive. 0

They could still afford ordinary food. 0

The envious glances never ceased. Suddenly, the noise on the street shifted; what had been a bustling atmosphere fell silent as if a pin could be heard dropping. 0

On the street, several Armored Transport Vehicles passed by, kicking up clouds of yellow dust. From afar, one could hear vibrant singing emanating from these vehicles—it was a Military Song. Occasionally, colorful tunes floated out from the Armored Transport Vehicles, eliciting smiles from those who listened. 0

"The Guard Camp of Leader Zheng Yifan from the Gathering Place is currently preparing for the next battle after a successful sniping operation south of the river against the zombies. We don't know which side of the battlefield will ignite first, but once the fighting starts, the Military Merit will definitely be ours," a soldier said excitedly, rubbing his hands together, completely ignoring the girl beside him. 0

After all, it wouldn't be one of their own. Following the commander, if one were to gossip carelessly, it would only lead to bad outcomes. 0

As the convoy passed by, people in the food street continued to eat. However, Fan Bing gazed out the window at the speeding convoy, her eyes shining with excitement. 0

She believed she could win over that man—the most powerful man in the Gathering Place. 0

At that moment, the most powerful man was lying on an Armored Transport Vehicle, looking exhausted as he watched his guards chatting idly. Beside him was Li Lijiao, with her soft body and explosive figure. 0

The word "explosive" was truly fitting. Zheng Yifan could feel her incredible elasticity with just a slight touch. The scent of her fragrance, reminiscent of orchids and musk, intoxicated him instantly. 0

Unfortunately, she was definitely not a demure girl but rather a fierce woman. Just as Zheng Yifan's thoughts wandered, he felt a hand on his waist, followed by a painful twist of his soft flesh as she executed a front flip. 0

Though his physical condition had improved immensely, that part of his body still felt pain. 0

Just like now, Zheng Yifan suddenly felt all fatigue vanish; he was no longer tired. 0

"That's really refreshing," he managed to say with a look of frustration as he stepped down from the Armored Transport Vehicle. 0

They had arrived at Hercules Building. 0

Unfortunately, he didn't even have a chance to get out of the vehicle before being blocked by Han Rui and her fellow Logistics Personnel who were coordinating things in the center. 0

Ruiguan reported urgent news: there were already signs of zombies on the front lines. However, the first zombies that arrived were somewhat strange; they actually moved along Ruiguan's city wall without attacking it. 0

Sadly, the subsequent zombies did not share this restraint. Just as the warriors on Ruiguan had relaxed their guard, more zombies surged forward during the night and officially began combat with them. 0

No one knew what had driven the zombies mad; typically, they struggled to move at night and rarely engaged in active combat. But whether it was unusual or not didn't seem to matter to anyone. 0

The battle had already been raging for half an hour, with countless Low-Level Zombies swarming endlessly. They began to connect with Zombies from other Gathering Places, absorbing the wandering Zombies and forming new hordes. 0

In just a few hours, many Gathering Places suffered heavy losses and abandoned their locations, fleeing towards the Wilderness Gathering Place. 0

Ruiguan and his group would not be coming back. This place had become a battlefield. 0

Above Ruiguan, the lights shone brightly. Under the searchlights, the Zombies below surged forward one after another. The Zombies in front became stepping stones for those behind; as long as they were alive, they could continue to serve that purpose, allowing the following Zombies to advance. 0

The Left Guard had already begun using fire attacks to try to halt the Zombie onslaught. The area of contact stretched for several kilometers, filled with Zombies, while farther away, there were no Zombie attacks at all. The warriors on the city walls had started pouring livestock blood to attract the attention of the Zombies. The main combat area was limited to just a few kilometers of city wall. 0

"Roar!" The continuous roars of the Zombies echoed without pause, as countless grotesque faces lunged at the walls, sticking to them to make it easier for those behind to climb up. 0

Leader Zombies had begun to exert their power, granting intelligence to the other Zombies so they could fight with strategy. 0

The front gate was where Thermal Power was most intense; here gathered the elite of the Flame Legion. 0

"Quick! Change the ammo belts faster! Don't worry about barrel explosions or overheating. We're using Superpower Technology; these issues are non-existent as long as we keep moving! Each one down there is Military Merit! Once this battle ends, I might just be able to get a new barrel for my beloved Red." The soldier was a Firearms user and a Superpowered Individual whose powers enhanced his weapons' effectiveness. Each bullet he fired carried ten Super Energy Bullets along with it. While those Super Energy Bullets weren't particularly lethal on their own, they proved devastating against the massive hordes of Zombies. 0

Before him lay a storm of bullets; his Machine Gun could fire 1,000 rounds per minute. Although the caliber wasn't particularly impressive and lacked additional effects from other Superpowered Individuals, under such a hail of gunfire, very few Zombies could survive. 0

"Boss! You have it easy! You have no idea how fast 1,000 rounds in a minute goes! A single box of ammo is enough for just over a minute of firing; that's barely enough time to install a new belt." Behind him, a soldier installing ammo belts complained, "And we still have to assist in taking down those Zombies while keeping an eye out for Wolves waiting to steal our kills. Easy, right?" 0

As he grumbled, nearby soldiers' eyes practically glowed with greed as they awaited their prey. Low-Level Zombies primarily needed to be dealt with by Firearms users among the Superpowered Individuals. Their targets were mainly those larger Fellows; Second Tier and Third Stage Zombies were their primary focus. A single Second-Level Zombie could be handled alone, but encountering a Third-Stage Zombie required teamwork. However, no one wanted others encroaching on their Military Merit from Second-Level Zombies. 0

They were even less inclined to let others harvest their Military Merit from First-Level Zombies. As such, during battle, lines were clearly drawn; although they attacked according to designated positions and formed crossfire with Thermal Power, it ultimately became a contest of wills—no one willing to yield. 0

Unfortunately for them, they wouldn't be able to maintain this for long. In no time at all, the Zombies had piled up against the city walls below them, and shadows of Second-Level Zombies began to appear as they slowly climbed up. Occasionally, someone would throw down a homemade Molotov cocktail that erupted into flames. 0

They could not withstand the flames of Cayenne. 0

As the fire spread among the Zombies, they always employed a method of isolation, separating the Zombies in the middle so that they would burn themselves out and die naturally, while other Zombies would fill in the gaps. 0

"Ah!" The sounds of Howl echoed across the battlefield. Faced with these ugly Fellows, no one would retreat; only slaughter could satisfy their pent-up aggression. A glance revealed a sea of dark Zombie heads. 0

The stench was so foul that it could be smelled from over ten miles away, making them even more uncomfortable. Fighting was manageable, but once they left the battle, they could only kill the Zombies and wait for them to turn into Zombie Fluid. 0

Only Zombies that had turned into corpse fluid were considered good Zombies. 0

Flames began to rise, devouring the Zombies. The fire was fueled entirely by gasoline and incendiaries, making it the best ally in demonstrating the dangers of flames to the Zombies. 0

"Squeak!" The Leader Zombie among them was nearly driven mad with anxiety. Shouldn't the Zombies have been the first to charge the walls? Had they fled? 0

What they did not know was that Wang Ming, ahead of them, had unhesitatingly abandoned most of his Zombie brethren and nearly all humans to continue fleeing north after deciding to attack the walls. 0

Ahead lay an endless plain and the Ushumar Mountains. (To be continued) 0
