Fuel began to pour out onto the ground in large quantities, and a certain amount of oxygen was released from the exhaust vents. More gas was also emitted, filling the air with a strong smell of liquefied gas. A flame zone, ten meters wide and several kilometers long, formed, effectively separating the zombies into two parts, allowing them to be dealt with one by one. This was primarily to alleviate the pressure of battle. 0

Reducing the number of zombies would provide a brief opportunity to clear the battlefield and rest. 0

At this moment, the area was being used for an offensive, as advanced zombies had appeared in this position. One particularly massive zombie, towering over others and built like a tank, warranted such an action, not to mention the potential presence of a Zombie Leader lurking nearby. 0

The zombies did not detect the gas; their sense of smell was primarily geared towards finding food. The Zombie Leader also showed no awareness of the gas threat. Even if they retained some instinctual aversion to the post-apocalyptic gas smell, it was easily overshadowed by their hunger. 0

A strange pause fell over the battlefield. The warriors on the walls had changed shifts multiple times and were visibly exhausted. The number of zombies below showed no signs of diminishing; there were simply too many behind them for any low-level zombies to be missing. 0

If this continued, it would only be a matter of time before these low-level zombies filled the entire Ruiguan. 0

Just as the zombies below were about to reach the height of the city wall, a flicker of fire appeared a kilometer away, followed by a surge of flames shooting dozens of meters high. Black smoke swirled in the air as the zombies in the inferno roared and howled, but it was all in vain. They could not extinguish the flames; despite their width being insufficient, the fire had already buried them. No matter how they struggled, there was no way to escape, nor did they even know how to evade it. 0

Coincidentally, two Zombie Leaders were within the range of the flames, instantly igniting their surrounding Puppet Zombies. Then came the piercing howl from inside—the sound sharp and grating. 0

Nearby zombies roared in anger; all surrounding zombies turned to charge toward that location to protect their leaders. Unfortunately, the flames around them acted like an impassable barrier, preventing any life from passing through. 0

Zombies entering the inferno were instantly reduced to ashes. The grease on their bodies only fueled the fire further; Zombie Fluid dripped onto the ground but did not extinguish the flames—instead, it seeped into the ground and mysteriously vanished. 0

“Zii zii!” The loud roars of zombies echoed as both Zombie Leaders went mad. They shook their bodies and roared loudly while nearby zombies began to devour each other, rapidly mutating in response. Some grew taller, some shorter; some became fatter while others shrank. 0

The mutated zombies seemed to have only seconds left to live before charging into the inferno. 0

The taller zombies lunged into the inferno like pancakes, quickly turning to ash. The thinner ones exploded within the inferno, creating strong gusts of wind that had no effect on the gas-fueled inferno at all. 0

The shorter ones draped themselves over their Zombie Leader like clothing, shielding him from the flames' damage. 0

Only the fatter zombies slowly approached the inferno, their bodies resembling deflating balloons. As they moved forward, they had already covered half the distance by the time they reached the inferno. 0

Without hesitation, they plunged into the Inferno. 0

A series of "puff puff puff!" sounds echoed as the massive Fat Zombie exploded into splashes of green liquid, significantly weakening the flames. The fire fueled by the oil was completely covered, as if a powerful adhesive had sealed the oil underground, blocking the mouth of the Gas pipeline. 0

Only the Gas still struggled in mid-air. 0

Three or four Fat Zombies had made their presence felt, and immediately more Zombies began to devour each other, transforming into these round, ball-like Zombies that surged toward the Zombie Leader. 0

"Kill! Quickly clear out the Zombies, or it will be too late!" Although the entire process felt swift, it actually took over twenty minutes to drive the flames away from around the Zombie Leader. As for the other Zombies, no one paid them any mind; they were simply divided into two zones. 0

The enormous Zombie in the flames roared incessantly. Then, all the Zombies hanging from it flew up, flapping their wings. The giant Zombie grabbed these flying Zombies and hurled them like a catapult. 0

The Zombies were indeed gliding, targeting the walls of Ruiguan. The area behind the walls held no food or targets in their eyes. 0

The walls themselves were their goal—the scent of blood and flesh from those warriors, along with the fresh blood spilled from wounds inflicted by Zombies, was what attracted them. 0

Like gliders, the Zombies focused on the warriors atop the walls. They advanced with increasing momentum, covering a distance of a thousand meters in mere seconds. 0

"Kill!" The warriors were in peril; all Firearm Espers aimed their weapons at these airborne Zombies. 0

The ground-level Zombies were manageable, but those above posed a challenge. Only they had superior firing rates to intercept these flying Fellows. Ordinary Superpowered Individuals were too slow with their Superpower to take down these creatures. 0

Unfortunately, their attempts at interception were still evaded by the Zombies. The Gliding Zombies moved with agility akin to birds; they just couldn't fly for extended periods. Now they circled above Ruiguan, constantly searching for targets. 0

Bullets struck around them as they deftly dodged. The attacks from Superpowered Individuals were futile; before they could even unleash their strikes, these Gliding Zombies had already vanished from sight. 0

Suddenly, a Gliding Zombie made a 180-degree turn in mid-air and dove down at meteoric speed toward a First-Level Esper below. He could unleash fiery claws from his hands and instinctively released all his Superpower against the Gliding Zombie. 0

In that instant, the Gliding Zombie did not dodge or evade; it poured all its strength into its descent. It crashed down onto the Superpowered Individual. 0

In the blink of an eye, the figure of the Gliding Zombie vanished. All that remained was the sight of the Superpowered Individual struggling. 0

"Kill! Take down Hang Yi too!" shouted the captain beside him, grabbing a melee spear and thrusting it forward. 0

The spear pierced through, but it felt unusually soft, as if there were no bones in its body. Then, they saw Hang Yi's body explode violently. At the spear's tip was the Gliding Zombie, but now it was no longer in its short form; it had devoured all of Hang Yi's bones. Facing the captain, it crazily sprayed shards of bone as projectiles. 0

Those shattered bone fragments shot out like knives. The Gliding Zombie had completely consumed Hang Yi's flesh and blood, and after forcing back the nearby team, it leaped off the walls of Ruiguan without hesitation, continuing to glide toward the horde of Zombies, with its target being the massive Zombie. 0

The other Gliding Zombies launched a collective attack, their methods converging as they burrowed into their targets' bodies. 0

Some Superpowered Individuals could slow down their targets' speed with their vision, allowing them to witness the Gliding Zombies' attack techniques. 0

When attacking, their bodies seemed to shrink entirely. First, their claws would tear through the target's flesh before they fully drilled inside. 0

Within a second, all bones and flesh would be completely absorbed. The bones then transformed into weapons to attack their former comrades while their flesh became nourishment for them. 0

In just one wave of attacks, nearly a hundred Superpowered Individuals perished on the battlefield. The targets of the Gliding Zombies were all First-Level Espers; Second-Stage Espers had basic self-defense capabilities and could still hunt, but First-Level Espers were much easier prey. 0

They had not yet gained enough nutrients to evolve and had sustained injuries in the flames earlier. 0

Each Gliding Zombie paid a heavy price. 0

All their strength was used by the massive Zombie to resist the flames. Now that the giant Zombie was severely injured, they needed nourishment to sustain it. 0

It was like an Aircraft Carrier carrying fighter jets; the massive Zombie led them into battle and provided supplies. In return, the Gliding Zombies offered nutrients to continue supporting the giant Zombie's plans. 0

It was a complete symbiotic relationship. 0

"We can't let them all escape. We have to leave something behind!" The Left Guard was nearly driven mad. Throughout this war, casualties had been minimal, but after splitting from the enemy, they suffered such significant losses that it ignited his fury. 0

The Flame Legion is the Ace among the Aces of the Hope Gathering Place, stronger than the Bloodbath Legion, except for the Guard Camp. The real battle has not even begun, yet he has already lost so many men, which is almost unbearable for him, igniting a surge of anger within. He raised his shield in front of him. 0

Although he is the Legion Commander, he has not crafted his own Psychic Weapon. He is a perfectionist; if he is to create something, it must be done right from the start, even if it means piecing together a little bit at a time. 0

More importantly, he has not yet reached the Third-Stage Esper level and has not developed the powers that a Superpowered Individual should possess. As such, he cannot fully envision the weapons of the future. 0

He also lacks his own fighting style. This is both his flaw and his strength, as he still has a long way to go. 0

For instance, right now, amidst his burning anger, a dozen Gliding Zombies are circling in midair and attacking simultaneously. Their targets are Second-Stage Espers; these Zombies are stronger and more robust than their peers, making them the elite among Gliding Zombies. Naturally, they would not be interested in ordinary First-Level Espers. 0

Once they lock onto their targets, they strike almost instantaneously, with only a fraction of a second separating them from their prey. 0

At this moment, they are nearly defenseless because most of these Superpowered Individuals possess offensive Superpowers and are those with immense potential for attack. 0

If they suffer losses here, the blow to the Flame Legion will multiply exponentially. 0

In that instant, the Left Guard moved. 0
