Inside Deep City, a massive war was unfolding. Countless Avatars of the Believers were being overwhelmed by millions of Zombies, who had become powerful enough to conquer all living beings. Within the confines of Deep City, no creature had ever dared to challenge them. I will tell you, is the fastest update really about speed?
Today, Zheng Yifan had stirred up a hornet's nest, causing the Believers to unleash their Zombies in a frenzy without hesitation. Initially, only Second-Level Zombies appeared, but soon Third-Stage Zombies began to emerge. Even more terrifying were the Mutated Zombies and Fourth-Stage Zombies mixed among them. Zheng Yifan had lost his sense of humor; Deep City was too frightening. If he wanted to cleanse this city, he would need to employ the method of boiling frogs in water to eliminate them.
As the Avatars of the Believers continued to replenish, Zheng Yifan slowly approached the center of the city; his destination was drawing near.
The research project for the Solar Photovoltaic Power Station was completed in a laboratory within Deep City.
It was not a particularly large laboratory, but with this project having grown into a significant endeavor, its astonishing achievements were enough to place them at the pinnacle of the world, making them one of the most powerful companies globally. Yet, they still retained their original company and laboratory, where all data was sealed away.
That was what Zheng Yifan needed most. The entire laboratory was well-equipped, but in the Post-Apocalypse era, all security systems had completely failed. Electricity had been absent for two years. The electricity supply could have provided formidable defensive power for the laboratory, activated alarm systems, and powered the vaults.
Now, unable to be activated and lacking defense or police support, their once foolproof security measures had become useless without external support.
Five hundred meters ahead lay Zheng Yifan's target and destination.
Just as he was about to draw closer, an eerie sound suddenly broke through the air, startling him awake.
It was a familiar sound that he had heard repeatedly in movies and television shows—the crackling noise that never ceased: gunshots. Submachine guns and handguns were continuously firing, awakening those Zombies; the battle never stopped for a moment.
Human resistance persisted. Zheng Yifan's eyes lit up as he prepared to enter combat mode at any moment!
He did not know whether firearms could be used in this special environment or if it was due to a Firearm Esper's abilities.
However, he knew that humanity still existed. In front of over a hundred million Zombies, humans were still fighting bravely for survival; that was enough.
Hearing the gunshots, Zheng Yifan knew he had to take action. Although the fighting over there was merely a scuffle, for him, it represented humanity's hope. Fighting was not to be feared; what was truly frightening was the unwillingness to resist. The warriors of Deep City were still battling, and the Survivors were still striving to live. They deserved a bright future, not one filled with uncertainty.
At the Hope Gathering Place, what was offered was hope, not death. Zheng Yifan could not stand idly by. His body began to glide slowly, floating in mid-air as his clothes transformed into the best glider. Of course, it was his own superpower that truly enabled him to glide. The Adamantium Shield morphed once again, granting Zheng Yifan a brief ability to glide. He gradually floated away into the distance.
The Zombies seemed to lack any evolved aerial combat capabilities.
It was easy to understand why; this area was close to the sea. If Zombies were to evolve, their abilities would likely be related to combat in the ocean rather than engaging in pointless aerial battles. They simply had no opportunity for such evolution.
Zheng Yifan drifted like a specter above Deep City, though it could only be considered half-airborne as he floated among the towering buildings.
The sound of gunfire grew closer, and Zheng Yifan felt an urgent desire to showcase his combat prowess.
However, since there were guns involved, it might be better to switch to a combat mode that would allow him to engage more easily with others.
Gradually, he spotted the site of the battle—a large shopping mall entrance where Zombies were pouring in from all directions. There were no Advanced Zombies among them, just the lowest tier of Zombies. A few people could hardly attract Advanced Zombies; primarily because they were ordinary individuals without the ability to draw in such formidable foes. Second-Level Zombies were already their limit.
However, it seemed that Second-Level Zombies had long been attracted by Zheng Yifan to another battlefield. There, the Avatar of the Believers was continuously whittling them down, and it was uncertain when they would all be wiped out.
Zheng Yifan didn’t care; what he wanted was combat power on this side. Two machine guns appeared in his hands.
These were firearms that could be used as automatic weapons in a post-apocalyptic world, but in Zheng Yifan's hands, they lacked overwhelming lethality and relied solely on rapid-fire speed for attacks.
The Guard Cannon’s stripped-down version was mostly used in the Apocalyptic World as a close-range weapon mounted on Jeeps or armored vehicles.
Now, Zheng Yifan held a weapon in each hand, with two ammunition boxes strapped to his back, totaling over half a ton. The bullets inside could unleash a massive barrage at any moment.
The ammunition behind him was barely enough for a few minutes of gunfire. The two boxes were merely for show; the real operation relied on the Storage Space. As long as there were no bullets left, the bullets in the Storage Space would automatically replenish. The automatic linking mechanism took care of everything, ensuring that as long as the ammunition box appeared in the right position, it would connect automatically using the force generated by the bullets during firing. This was also the most popular method used in the Apocalyptic World. The specific application was part of preparations for the future Mecha Warrior project, which had already been established as a major research initiative in the Apocalyptic World, complete with weapon designs.
The firearms in Zheng Yifan's hands were samples from the Armory, primarily display models meant to familiarize soldiers with firearm templates.
After acquiring them, Zheng Yifan had been itching to try them out, but using them in the real world was difficult; he never knew when he might be spotted by a Satellite. Only in the Apocalyptic World could he use them without restraint.
Strangely, Zheng Yifan looked up at the sky. There might still be Satellites from the Apocalyptic World operating up there, but their signals probably couldn't connect to the planet's interior anymore.
With a sudden turn, his body spiraled a few times before finally landing in an alley behind a Zombie.
At the moment he touched down, Zheng Yifan decided to make a grand entrance.
"Zombies! Witness the power of your Uncle Zheng Yifan!" he shouted loudly, his fingers pressing down on the triggers.
In an instant, the powerful recoil nearly sent Zheng Yifan flying again. What did a firing rate of nearly ten thousand rounds per minute mean?
That was called a Bullet Curtain!!! (To be continued.)
