Behind him, there were gasps of astonishment; they had gone mad. The young man before them was actually the top figure of Hope Group and Apocalypse Security Company. His attire, which resembled that of an ordinary person, made him seem like the most unassuming individual.
The Fellow behind him was already losing his mind. He had never imagined that such a powerful being would appear right beside him, and he had even looked down on him. It was clear what his fate would be next. In the face of the apocalypse, everyone knew that the government no longer protected them; only those in power and high-ranking military officials truly became the elite. As for the wealthy? In the apocalypse, they were as common as grass.
He was just an ordinary shrimp, unaware that those big shots could die at any moment without a hint of hesitation.
Watching as all the Fellows around him distanced themselves, refusing to speak to him, treating him as if he were a corpse, he slowly walked away into the distance. He knew that his days ahead would not be easy. Even if those in power forgave him generously, as long as it wasn't made public, there would always be opportunists looking to exploit connections, and he would inevitably become their target. This was a certainty; to gain forgiveness, one had to understand what the other party truly needed. He knew that only genuine interests could ensure his survival.
The wealth possessed by the greatest tycoon in Australia might just be money.
However, while his thoughts raced, there were things he was reluctant to part with that could be brought out at any moment.
Australia, the Pearl of the Ocean, was his stronghold. Without his local influence, vast resources, and hidden assets, survival would be impossible.
Yet he was unwilling to give away his hard-earned capital to others. The current situation forced him to consider doing just that.
Zheng Yifan slowly walked into the elegant corridor. After passing through several grand halls, he finally arrived at their command center in Ladidia.
In the real world, firearms could be a blessing. Humanity now had a chance to fight against zombies. Although the threat posed by those weapons was far less than anticipated, they still provided a stark contrast to the Apocalyptic World. After all, these were merely weakened versions of zombies; most restrictions in the world had yet to unfold. It was believed that when Earth truly merged with the Apocalyptic World, perhaps then the rules of existence would align.
But before that moment arrived, Zheng Yifan hoped to lead humanity in eliminating all zombies first and then develop sufficient defensive strength in preparation for the arrival of the Apocalyptic World.
The technology in his hands could also be constructed in advance to tackle all challenges ahead. What the future held was uncertain for Zheng Yifan; he could only passively defend against what was to come.
As he entered the command room, he unsurprisingly spotted Ladidia. Looking at her face, he could almost see the days when they first met in Shengjing. But now, they had to unite against the Zombies; they were ready to face death.
"Boss!" Suddenly, a figure appeared on one of the monitors. It was Berry, and then other screens chimed in with greetings directed at Zheng Yifan.
"It seems you all moved quickly to get in touch. However, there might still be some issues here. The Fellow is prepared for the first Zombie attack, and Berry is starting to look for military talent. We need individuals with a certain level of loyalty; our talent program should have yielded some results by now. Gather all the military personnel and filter out those who are most loyal. Begin experimental extermination of the Zombies. Remember to bring powerful weapons. Here are some materials for you all to review and learn from." Zheng Yifan tossed a USB drive to Ladidia, containing footage of battles between the Last Hope Gathering Place and the Zombies. The noteworthy points had been edited out, leaving only images of those using firearms against the Zombies and scenes of Superpowered Individuals in combat. Zheng Yifan's own combat situations were never shown, as they were classified information within the Gathering Place.
As Ladidia plugged the drive into her computer, nearly everyone received the data. The young officers around Ladidia stared blankly at Zheng Yifan. But when his data was displayed, they were shocked.
Everyone in that room was part of the core personnel of Hope Group, and these young individuals were key talents being cultivated. Their mental resilience was relatively strong.
However, upon seeing the information provided by Zheng Yifan, their hearts tightened simultaneously.
Before them were scenes of battles between the Hope Gathering Place and the Zombies, along with many short clips showing members of the Exploration Team slaughtering Zombies outside. This data was provided by the Explorer Alliance; after all, every team almost always brought cameras when they ventured out, resulting in a wealth of such material.
There were dozens of files that only Ladidia's computer—a prototype supercomputer—could barely read.
Thanks to Zheng Yifan having converted the format in advance and utilized more advanced bridging technology.
"There’s no time to look through all this data; others can study it on their own. Ladidia, have your people prepare for battle quickly; there are millions of Zombies outside. Gather all weapons and show me your strength."
"If you’re not up to par, I will step in to help, but I don’t want to see that moment—I don’t want to see any cowards!" Zheng Yifan shouted loudly.
Because outside, the Zombies were already beginning to close in.
The sound of the Rocket Launcher echoed in his ears, and Zheng Yifan could already feel the vibrations here.
Outside, the battle raged fiercely, but it was merely the chaos caused by the marauders.
Zombies were still at least ten minutes away; after all, they had been attracted by others. Even if they moved quickly, it would take time for them to gather. The formation of those people had already begun to shift, slowly drawing in the Zombies.
Zheng Yifan didn’t waste any words. After finishing his thoughts, he instructed Ladidia to send someone to the underground cellar to fetch weapons.
While Ladidia was still in a daze, Zheng Yifan had already left the room, leaving Berry and the others staring at each other in silence.
“We’ve gotten used to this, haven’t we? The Boss always appears and disappears mysteriously. This is the worst of times and also the best of times. Everyone, now that we have guns and ammunition, why not follow the Boss and make a name for ourselves?” Berry’s smile held a hint of sincerity, but the others caught the underlying message.
In the past, they were always a company, a business, wealthy individuals. But now, times had changed; an era where heroes emerge from chaos had arrived.
