The metallic sphere was tightly structured and incredibly heavy, surpassing all the metals that Zheng Yifan could normally handle.
This could be a special ability of the Sea Beast, or perhaps a means of attack. Regardless, Zheng Yifan kept his head down, trying to take advantage of the situation. The battle ahead was shaking the ground; no life could escape its reach. It felt as if another sun had hung in the sky, and the temperature on the streets of Deep City quickly soared past seventy degrees, merely from residual heat, as the actual point of attack lay out in the ocean.
A vast amount of evaporated water turned into steam, bringing even more scorching temperatures that even the Sea Beasts struggled to endure.
The battle affected far too many lives; Zheng Yifan was merely a negligible presence in comparison.
In contrast, Zheng Yifan found land battles to be far too easygoing. Only battles at sea were truly for the strong.
Perhaps it was in the deep mountains and forests that one could find genuinely powerful terrestrial beasts. However, compared to the Sea Beasts, their numbers were still far too few; marine creatures vastly outnumbered those on land.
Human exploration had only touched upon shallow waters. Even after the apocalypse began, humanity once again regarded the ocean as a Restricted Area for life.
Zheng Yifan didn’t concern himself with such matters; he focused solely on gathering supplies. The collateral damage was always happening, especially with two formidable monsters involved.
One was a Sea Beast King; that massive Octopus had an attack power that exceeded Zheng Yifan’s previous limits of imagination. Yet now, facing that creature, he could only shake his head—fighting was impossible; retreating seemed the only option.
As for the Solar Zombie King, Zheng Yifan had no intention of engaging with it whatsoever. That thing was terrifying; encountering it would likely mean instant death without any other possibility.
It was simply a trap.
All Zheng Yifan could do was endure continuously, relaxing his body while watching the Zombies battle across from him, collecting whatever resources he could find.
Since he was near the port, there were originally many containers close by. Unfortunately, that was no longer an option due to complications arising from the ongoing battle.
How high could the waves rise? He had once heard tales of monstrous waves over ten meters high crashing down on ships and shattering them into pieces. At that time, it felt like a nightmare; however, looking back now, it seemed far too gentle. The towering waves before him were no longer mere waves—they were apocalyptic.
It was a scene straight out of a doomsday movie.
The sky seemed completely submerged by seawater.
Zheng Yifan could only take refuge in a building, watching as the raging waves swept through Deep City, washing everything away. He had been gazing at a metallic sphere on the beach, a proud smile on his face, wondering what use it might have when he returned.
Suddenly, a chilling gust of wind swept over him. Turning around, he saw that the sky was filled with water, leaving no chance for escape.
Once inside the building, he felt a wave of heat wash over him. The waves on the ground and in the air had turned into steam, making Deep City feel like it had entered an era of steaming chaos.
He couldn't fathom how the Survivors managed to survive such disasters; Zheng Yifan truly wanted to commend them for their resilience.
The two forces clashed violently—water met fire, and naturally, they were incompatible. The struggle transformed into another form of conflict. Zheng Yifan felt genuinely uncomfortable; the steam's temperature had already exceeded one or two hundred degrees. If he hadn't become a Sixth Tier Superpowered Individual, he would have surely been cooked alive, not to mention any Survivors hiding in the shadows.
Zheng Yifan estimated that if there were any Survivors hiding by the sea, they would have long since been done for.
Now, he felt as if he were about to be cooked himself. Fortunately, he had taken cover early on. Although he felt the heat intensely now, he was still avoiding direct confrontation with this power.
The strength of the Solar Zombie King was formidable. Flames began to erupt around him. In this situation, Zheng Yifan calculated that his only option was to flee.
He couldn't involve himself in battles of this level; hiding away and cheering from the sidelines was far more prudent. He might as well find something else to do—at least observe from a safer distance.
However, Deep City was something Zheng Yifan needed to conquer in the future.
Moreover, with each Zombie falling in battle, it meant that nearby Zombies were being depleted.
The longer the fight continued, the more Zombies would perish.
After about ten minutes, the steam began to dissipate slightly. Zheng Yifan quietly appeared at the entrance of a skyscraper. The building above him was unrecognizable; its glass had completely melted away, resembling melted ice cream. The ground was scorching hot, and his shoes were instantly rendered useless.
Removing his shoes and walking on the ground, Zheng Yifan no longer feared the Zombie Virus; there was little that could harm his feet as he walked down the street.
At this point in the battle, Zheng Yifan knew he had to leave. He sensed that an even fiercer fight was just beginning—this was a battle of monsters. Once he reached Seventh Level, he would undoubtedly return to join this fight.
However, for now, he was still running well.
Thinking of this, Zheng Yifan's wings spread out behind him. With a few powerful flaps, his body quickly ascended and then soared into the distance.
On the battlefield by the sea, a tumultuous fight was taking place. Zheng Yifan's departure felt like that of a deserter in a massive war, facing severe punishment if caught, but there was nothing they could do if he slipped away.
They wanted to take down Zheng Yifan, this Fellow, but in reality, they had no time for that because their arch-nemesis was right in front of them. They needed to deal with the strongest enemy before them first.
If they gave the opponent even the slightest chance, their lives would be lost here.
With the increase in strength, both sides possessed considerable intelligence and could certainly contemplate their issues.
Without the obstruction of these two giants, Zheng Yifan hurriedly flew away, his speed reaching its peak. Every few seconds, he glanced back to check on the situation behind him—the center of the battlefield and the heart of thick water vapor.
Looking closely, it seemed that a mirage of Sea City had begun to appear. It was an eerie sight, as if the oldest projector was casting images onto an uneven curtain.
There were several human warriors engaged in battle against Zombies—ordinary Zombies at that. In the midst of the fight, Zheng Yifan noticed a large number of warriors using Superpowers!
Where is this place!!! (To be continued.)
