As Zheng Yifan harnessed the power, the forces of the Primordial Pearl began to unite, and all energies re-emerged once more.
Since it was Zheng Yifan who had placed the Primordial Pearl, he could accurately control the radiation of its power, as if he were completely safeguarding the riverbanks from allowing any force to cross over. Ancheng felt like an isolated island, with the Vital Energy not fully activated, waiting for the Energy Source to be summoned. As soon as Zheng Yifan's influence arrived, it would trigger the full power of the Primordial Pearl.
This alone was sufficient; he needed to absorb even more power from outside.
All these forces did not appear out of nowhere; they gradually emerged through the absorption of Vital Energy.
The Primordial Pearl in Ancheng was not particularly strong, which is why Zheng Yifan stored it there. A few months might be enough to fully charge all its powers, allowing the energies within the Primordial Pearl to completely merge and become one.
Only then would it truly take effect.
Once everything was in place, a formidable force united the Primordial Pearls from both the Hope Gathering Place and outside the Wilderness Gathering Place, creating a subtle connection with Ancheng's Primordial Pearl.
When these energies twisted together, true power manifested.
Zheng Yifan could feel it; everyone could feel it.
As long as they were within the enveloping range, it was as if clouds had suddenly parted to reveal a vast blue sky, making the air feel fresher or freeing them from some binding force.
On the Ruiguan battlefield, war raged intensely. People were beginning to falter against the relentless onslaught of Zombies. Ever since their leader had caused chaos there, everyone had been nearly overwhelmed by the Low-Level Zombies.
Zheng Yifan had captured all the Advanced Zombies, leaving only a few stragglers behind.
At this point in battle, it had become a war of attrition between Low-Level Zombies and the Hope Gathering Place's sustained fighting strength. As long as Zombies approached the walls continuously, those powerful Advanced Zombies could take advantage of the chaos; once they neared the walls, they would truly cause trouble.
Even more disgusting was how those Zombies would trample their fallen comrades beneath them, using them as stepping stones. Although Ruiguan was a critical stronghold, it would still be filled by sheer numbers of Zombies.
Flames had become utterly ineffective. The Zombies had found ways to counter them; all that remained was perhaps a barrage from Machine Guns. Dead Zombies would turn into Zombie Fluid, and only this method could truly cleanse all Zombies without needing them to clear the battlefield themselves.
The warriors of Hope Gathering Place struggled fiercely in battle; they had to fight like madmen.
On the battlefield, they saw that the surrounding Zombies were nearly level with Ruiguan's walls. If they truly piled up here, it would spell disaster!
If Zombies could quickly scale the walls, they would be overwhelmed. When their numbers swelled significantly, even a little Machine Gun fire would be insufficient to clear them out.
They should have had stronger Thermal Power, but unfortunately, they no longer had that opportunity.
The number of warriors capable of using Firearms was limited. Now, with both sides engaged in battle, their combat power had been significantly dispersed. Once the Firearm Espers were separated, their numbers were absolutely insufficient to withstand such a high quantity of Zombies.
What was even more concerning was that below them were Second Tier and Third Stage Zombies, which seemed to have transformed into ordinary Zombies without any Leader Zombie to control them.
It was as if all the leaders had vanished from this area.
If Zheng Yifan were here, he would know that those Leader Zombies had already disappeared from this region, leaving only a few Zombie Leaders to direct the general attack sequence.
The real fierce fighting was taking place along the coastline. That was where the Zombies gathered, where they could advance the fastest. They could even absorb power from Sea Beasts.
Humans were merely snacks on their menu.
Beasts were their true feast. Thus, the intelligent Zombie Leaders had begun to slowly approach the shore.
The land was gradually becoming calm.
However, their battle was just beginning; the war against the Sea Beasts rendered humans insignificant, like desserts already placed on the table, ready to be devoured at any moment.
Even Chiyou, who still survived from the First Vitality Era, meant nothing to them because Chiyou could not defeat the Zombies. The Zombies were simply too formidable for them to contend with.
Their sheer numbers had completely overwhelmed them.
At this moment, they were on the brink of madness, as if the entire world was about to abandon them.
Just like Sun Lin, who was holding his ground on the city wall, surrounded by a dozen Machine Guns, yet there was no real possibility of combat.
Next to him lay a blond-haired fellow who was already dead, bloodied but seemingly peaceful in his eternal sleep. He had merely lent out his hands before lying down for a deep slumber.
No! Perhaps we should also count his feet because in his final moments, someone had used them to pull the trigger. It turned out to be effective; it was just that his sleeping position left much to be desired.
During the battle, a Second-Level Zombie leaped up to the height of the city wall and made a swift cut across him.
Just like that, he died easily; his carotid artery was severed by a Zombie's grasp, and he inexplicably perished in his sleep.
The four Machine Gunners nearby found themselves powerless; they could only squeeze the triggers of their Machine Guns wholesale while waiting for death to arrive with tears in their eyes.
They could not retreat, for their families were behind them.
"Brothers, let us face death together! As long as there is even a one in ten thousand chance!" Sun Lin said calmly. Beside him stood three young men, all with their triggers pulled tight. They were all excellent Machine Gunners, former soldiers of the unit.
But now, they could only brace themselves with tears in their eyes and prepare for one last stand against the Zombies. They wielded long spears similar to Zheng Yifan's Silver Spear, weapons they had crafted themselves, modeled after the Silver Spear. Their combat power was naturally mediocre.
Zheng Yifan's Silver Spear possessed formidable attack power, while their spears were merely ordinary ones, lacking any special strength but still capable of harming the Zombies.
After all, it was the most primitive weapon, capable of slaughtering First-Level Zombies. That was how they had survived before entering the Hope Gathering Place.
Gradually, the Zombies had begun to close in, and despair was etched on everyone's faces.
"Die! Zombies!"
Finally, after a few minutes, the Zombies completely overwhelmed them. They had no strength left to shoot; the two Machine Gunners beside him had already picked up their long spears for one final effort.
Sun Lin, lying at the front, also prepared for a desperate fight. In that moment, he instinctively pulled the trigger once more. (To be continued…)
