The bullet pierced through the Zombie's skull. Even without Sun Lin's formidable strength, they possessed the will to attack and their own fervor.
Their blood seemed to boil in an instant; they could finally shoot. What had once been an easy task now felt precious. Those who had previously hesitated to pull the trigger with their toes immediately set aside their firearms. Their toes had only hindered their shooting, primarily due to issues with precision. Otherwise, they wouldn't have let so many Zombies close in.
Now, the Machine Gunners had the best shooting positions and stances, significantly improving their hit rate and accuracy.
Their targets were no longer random; instead, they executed rhythmic and precise attacks. Their focus was on the Zombies, but they were no longer shooting aimlessly. Gradually, they began firing Fire Nets, enveloping all the Zombies within.
Firearms were available, and there were also those specifically assigned to handle close-range Zombies. They used Submachine Guns, firing desperately from the gaps in the city wall.
Their attack speed had slowed considerably, but their targets were clear: the heads of the Zombies. Even Second and Third Tier Zombies trapped among their ranks could only be slaughtered at will. Ordinary bullets might not penetrate the skulls of some Third Stage or Second-Level Zombies, but that didn't matter.
They also had backup Remington 870 shotguns, which were incredibly lethal. Aiming directly at the heads of the Second and Third Tier Zombies below, they pulled the triggers almost point-blank.
No Zombie could withstand that.
In an instant, under the force of the muzzle energy, they were defenseless.
Only those Fourth Stage and Fifth Level Zombies could escape unscathed.
However, their opponents had changed; the killer of Fourth-Stage Zombies became Sun Lin. After more than an hour of shooting, the Zombie crisis finally subsided. Shi Laonian, Li Li, and Han Rui approached him due to his outstanding performance and formidable Superpower strength. He had truly awakened his Fifth Level abilities and was quickly accepted by everyone as they formally began to form a new team of Firearms warriors. However, this team was not composed of Superpowered Individuals but ordinary people armed with Firearms capable of killing Zombies while lacking Superpowers and strong defenses.
They were the strongest offensive force but lacked robust defense.
Nevertheless, it was fine; the responsibility of guarding Hope Gathering Place rested on their shoulders. Moreover, in the future, they could drive out to sweep away Zombies and use other means for defense, which was far more practical.
When Sun Lin stood before Li Li, he truly realized the formidable strength of the Firearm Esper. Although he was already a Fifth-Level Esper, the gap in offensive power compared to Li Li was simply too vast. From the lethality provided to the range of attack, he was nowhere near as powerful as Li Li.
However, he understood that his shooting ability lay in dealing with large numbers of enemies and accumulating ammunition.
The more bullets he could slowly gather, the greater their lethality would become. He loved the Machine Gun, that exhilarating feeling of rapid fire, which combined with his Superpower would be absolutely devastating. If only he had a batch of special bullets, it would be even better.
What he didn't know was that since becoming a Fifth-Level Esper, it meant he would soon have his own Psychic Weapon and be able to use larger caliber bullets.
Those impractical thoughts from before had become outdated. What he needed was the strongest weapon from the Hope Gathering Place.
In battle, all the warriors on the walls had begun to clear away the Zombies. Inside the walls, Han Rui stood before the crowd, watching the serious expression on the Left Guard's face while nearby warriors were eager to take action.
"Are you all crazy? You actually want to countercharge? To counterattack? We've held our ground for so long, and now that the Zombies have finally retreated, do you still have the energy to counterattack?" Han Rui's words were not without reason; at this point in the war, it seemed like it was almost time for a break.
However, true warriors had different thoughts.
"No! Although the warriors may be exhausted now, their spirits are at their highest. If we continue attacking for another Three to Four Hours, we will achieve even greater results. On the contrary, if we give up now, in two or three hours when this momentum fades, no one will be able to rejoin the fight. It would take at least a week of rest before anyone could recover. During that time, it would be the most dangerous period for the Gathering Place." The Left Guard, as a soldier, understood the horrors of war.
He also knew that if a person truly relaxed their spirit, they would need a long time to rest before recovering.
In such circumstances, they must press their advantage and scare off the Zombies; only then would they truly have time to rest.
Because nearly all of the warriors in the Gathering Place had participated in battle; although those who survived were elite fighters, they were still human and would become fatigued.
Now it had reached its limit.
"I agree with the Legion Commander. Although this is my first time standing here to speak, I still believe that we must strike and eliminate those Zombies. If we let this opportunity slip away, I don't know how long I would need to rest, and that's considering I'm a Superpowered Individual. What about the other warriors?" Sun Lin suddenly stepped forward.
He was a pure soldier, without any convoluted thoughts; he simply knew he should stand up, so he did. If given another chance, he would do the same.
"Is there anyone else who feels this way?" Han Rui, after all, was an ordinary woman. Although she could lead a corporation, it didn't mean she could command an army.
"Let them go! Full-scale attack! Let's win a glorious victory!" Suddenly, a man's voice rang out, and they saw a tall figure gradually walking toward them.
It was so familiar and exhilarating. Their leader, Zheng Yifan, slowly approached, allowing their hearts that had been hanging in suspense to finally settle.
"Kill! Eliminate those Zombies!" This was Sun Lin's voice. Seeing their leader in full gear excited him immensely; it was the first time he stood so close to him.
Behind them, Han Rui's eyes were filled with tears. A woman holding the fort here faced challenges a thousand times greater than running her previous company. After all, this was war; she wasn't an iron-blooded queen but just an ordinary woman. Even as a business elite, it wasn't enough.
Zheng Yifan walked over with a smile and wrapped his arm around Han Rui's slender waist.
"The war must continue. We will eliminate those Zombies and chase them until they leave our territory. Then we will return. Jiang Fangmian need not worry; with me here, the Zombies won't get through!" Zheng Yifan's words were filled with confidence and strength, inspiring belief in everyone around him. (To be continued)
