Xuan.
Zheng Yifan was unfamiliar with this name, yet deep down, he sensed that Xuan might be the owner of his wings. It seemed that this ability had been inherited by him, and it appeared he was not the only heir; the woman before him clearly possessed the same wings.
However, Zheng Yifan had not yet fully processed this when the woman's eyes suddenly flashed with a hint of sorrow, and her body instinctively moved forward.
Zheng Yifan almost unconsciously raised the Silver Spear in front of him.
But an unbelievable scene drove Zheng Yifan nearly to madness.
The woman did not attempt to dodge at all; instead, she naturally lunged toward the Silver Spear.
"Thud!"
In an instant, the Silver Spear pierced through the woman's body, and half of Bird Peck fell toward Jiang Shui Mian.
Below, Jie’s expression suddenly changed, and then, as if realizing something, tears began to flow uncontrollably.
Xyra in the water did not attack him; he knew he could not deal with Jie. For now, he was merely stalling this true powerhouse.
"Water Moon!" Jie roared in anguish, filled with thousands of years of longing and love. This was the woman he had loved for over ten thousand years, and now she had died just like that—willingly dying at someone else's hands, even after death, he could never possess her.
A nearly uncontrollable rage burned within his heart.
This was the ultimate belief that had sustained him for millennia without dying, but now it had been completely shattered. He was on the verge of losing all rationality.
In mid-air, Zheng Yifan was still somewhat dazed. Suicide?
Sister! What are you doing? We’re enemies here; why are you coming up to deliver your head?
Zheng Yifan helplessly looked at the woman before him as her body slowly turned green, resembling a Zombie. The fluid dripping onto the ground bore no difference from Zombie Fluid. Only a Primordial Pearl began to float gently upward, drifting toward Zheng Yifan.
Zheng Yifan had always known that his wings could merge, but he never expected that the Primordial Pearl would lose its power the moment it floated into his hands. Even if Zheng Yifan wanted to control the merging of his wings with the Primordial Pearl behind him, he was unsuccessful.
The woman was dead, gone without a trace, leaving only a few cryptic words behind. Perhaps it was the loneliness of countless years that led her to abandon life, or maybe she truly loved the man named Xuan. Now, seeing Zheng Yifan, she suddenly realized that this was something she had willingly sacrificed herself for.
Regardless of the circumstances, Zheng Yifan had received a significant gift from this woman. He had initially thought there would be a battle that would shake the earth, and he was prepared to fight to the death. Yet now, he had eliminated this woman without paying any price at all. Or perhaps she had willingly chosen death.
However, with her death, Zheng Yifan would not fare well either. Although the woman was gone, it was clear that a more troublesome Fellow had gone mad.
That was Jie. Upon witnessing the death of his beloved woman, rage consumed him in an instant, and he resorted to forbidden powers. This was the same power used by the Chiyou Tribe at their final victory; after his death, he would transform into Zombie Fluid because of this power. It felt as if his body was gradually decaying while his strength continuously surged. Something within him was crystallizing; Zheng Yifan knew it was the power of Zombie Crystal.
The source of a Zombie's power is Zombie Crystal, while Superpowered Individuals continuously nurture Primordial Pearls.
However, there is a distinction between the two: those who nurture Primordial Pearls first are like the three Zheng Yifan obtained that could enter the Vitality Tower, while those nurtured by each Superpowered Individual above Fifth Level come later.
Zheng Yifan also possessed one within him. He only knew of its existence but could not utilize it.
It was as if Zheng Yifan were currently mobilizing his Vital Energy. He knew he could do so; in reality, it was all due to the effect of the Primordial Pearl within him.
That thing resembled an organ of a living being—completely controlled subconsciously.
But Jie was different; he had completely transformed his Primordial Pearl into Zombie Crystal. His Primordial Pearl had already become something between Zombie Crystal and Primordial Pearl; it wasn't clearly defined.
The power within this transformation naturally increased because Zombies evolved differently from Superpowered Individuals. While Superpowered Individuals could only enhance their Superpowers, Zombies gained much more—from their bodies to their strength and various Mutated Zombies—far surpassing human Superpowers by hundreds of times.
Jie's power allowed him to enter a semi-Zombie state while remaining half-conscious and then attack. Although they could only die after battle, they possessed stronger abilities and superior physiques; even if someone severed their heads, they could survive for a brief period—truly overwhelming.
Zheng Yifan knew none of this; he only realized that Jie had gone mad. He couldn't fly and could only leap up to attack Zheng Yifan.
Could a person jump from such a height?
Yes!
Zheng Yifan could now provide the correct answer, as the figure of the calamity had appeared before him, continuously rising in height. It was evident that its power was formidable, and the enhanced jumping ability was due to the influence of the Zombie's strength, but more so because of the gradual changes occurring within its body.
What was most terrifying about Zombies was their adaptability. Naturally, they could enter the sea when near the shore. If they wished to ascend, they would evolve a pair of wings. However, in such a short time, it had not developed any impressive wings; instead, a thin membrane-like structure resembling a dragonfly's wings gradually emerged from the back of the calamity.
Its hands remained filled with power.
Zheng Yifan could not resist all at once; he could only evade.
Using nearly all his strength, Zheng Yifan continued to ascend. The dragonfly-like wings were too fragile to reach high altitudes; this was his limitation and also Zheng Yifan's only chance for escape.
"Kill! Kill! Kill!" The calamity roared incessantly, its eyes bloodshot, almost completely devoid of reason. Green blood flowed from its neck, trickling down its body—a result of the damage inflicted by Old Turtle Xira. Although the injury no longer mattered, its blood vessels had ruptured, causing blood to surge forth. If it retreated, it could quickly heal its wounds; however, having chosen to become a Zombie, it feared death only if it could kill Zheng Yifan.
In Calamity was filled with this singular thought.
Zheng Yifan had no choice but to engage in direct combat. With the Silver Spear in hand, he continuously defended himself while still flying upward, trying to avoid this already crazed Fellow.
Almost every moment, his left index finger twitched.
He intended to use a well-worn tactic to gain another opportunity to escape. (To be continued)
