A massive fleet was advancing across the Pacific Ocean, composed of over a dozen aircraft carriers and hundreds of destroyer missile boats, followed closely by dozens of enormous cargo ships and cruise liners.
This was the largest fleet in the world, a sight that could instill fear in anyone. Moreover, they were armed with formidable weapons, with fighter jets cruising in the air, boasting incredible endurance, and helicopters numbering in the thousands.
All were armed helicopters, entirely acquired by Hope Group through their global raids. These armed helicopters ranged from those used since the 1950s to the latest technological marvels.
AH-64 Apache armed helicopters, RAH-66 Comanche helicopters, AH-1 Cobra armed helicopters.
Russian Mi-8 Havoc armed helicopters, Russian Ka-50 armed helicopters.
Tiger armed helicopters.
Italian A-19 Mongoose armed helicopters.
These armed helicopters were always ready for landing and clearing missions. Neither humans nor zombies stood a chance against them.
It is known that an excellent armed helicopter is equivalent to a battalion's worth of troops, and here there were thousands of battalions represented by these helicopters. Although many had been retired, their combat power remained unmatched by ordinary humans.
These armed helicopters were not constantly airborne; they were stationed on cargo ships or aircraft carriers.
The number of fighter jets on the aircraft carriers had noticeably decreased due to a shortage of pilots. However, the situation was different for the armed helicopters; they did not require complex tactical maneuvers. Even in a post-apocalyptic world, many farms had armed helicopters, and Eve provided auxiliary operations.
Combat had become exceedingly simple, especially with high-tech equipment being replaced by Eve's capabilities.
Zheng Yifan was not aboard those large aircraft carriers; their speed had dwindled to just over twenty knots. Instead, he was racing across the Pacific Ocean on a sleek speedboat. Only when one was truly at sea could they feel this way. Of course, they had already crossed the ocean and were about to enter the Eastern Sea region.
This area had a population exceeding one hundred million. Fighting here was incredibly easy, and the number of zombies could replenish a significant amount of Zombie Crystal s.
What pleased Zheng Yifan the most was that there were no fierce Zombies in the real world, making battles much simpler. Sometimes, ordinary Firearms could become powerful weapons. Zheng Yifan imagined himself rampaging through enemies, his arms outstretched as he soared over the sea. He wanted to dive in for a swim, but he knew he couldn't do that. Their ship moved quickly; twenty knots might not seem fast, but it depended on what you were comparing it to. If Zheng Yifan jumped in to swim, it would be like comparing the speed of an airplane to that of a tractor.
Zheng Yifan was neither foolish nor a masochist; there was no way he would put himself through such discomfort. Instead, he enjoyed the sea breeze while waiting to reach shore.
The time to land in Japan was approaching quickly, but Zheng Yifan was not in a hurry. He savored a medium-rare Filet Mignon and enjoyed a glass of red wine from 1982.
As for the brand, Zheng Yifan only knew that it came from a local winery in Australia. The 1982 vintage was famous not because it was an exceptional year for wine, but because of the drought that year which led to a smaller grape harvest. However, the wine produced that year was exceptionally sweet and fragrant.
This was the reason why the 1982 vintage became so popular.
Zheng Yifan reveled in experiences he had never enjoyed before, but he knew that once the real war began, there would be no time for enjoyment.
Time ticked away. The women had stayed in Australia; they should enjoy their safe lives while the people there also relished their security.
Television stations had begun operating officially. With no entertainment options available in daily life, television became a good source of amusement. Most broadcasts featured disasters from around the world and real-time reports. The scenes of Japan being overrun by Zombies satisfied them, making them feel content in their current comfortable lives.
Compared to life in a Post-Apocalypse world, their quality of life had dropped significantly. Even though supplies and income were not comparable, there was something wonderful about contrast. In the face of global disaster, watching others scavenge for food among ruins or fight against Zombies made them appreciate their own lives even more. They only needed to graze livestock and grow fruits and vegetables on farms to lead happy lives with ample resources.
Life immediately felt different.
Even if they faced hunger or cold, it no longer mattered. The greatest fear in this world was comparison; when compared, the impoverished realized how difficult their lives were, while those who were wealthy and happy understood how precious their fortunes were.
They were among those who enjoyed this precious life.
The Aircraft Carrier gradually approached the port, but none of the ships could actually enter; outside were transport boats at work while they found themselves in Tokyo.
At the dock, there were surprisingly many Zombies crowded together, staring at the people out at sea.
Yes, there are still Survivors in the sea, paddling on wooden rafts or lifeboats. If a fishing boat or vessel appears, it would be considered a stroke of luck.
They are evading Zombie attacks out on the ocean.
At this early stage, with Vital Energy being scarce, Zombies are unable to evolve and cannot venture into the sea.
These people seem to have found a safe haven, living on their boats. Each of them possesses fishing gear and equipment; they drift on the water, fishing when hungry and eating their catch raw. It's a mystery how they manage to survive.
Perhaps after eating sushi so often, they no longer find it unpalatable.
The only concern left for them might be Freshwater Resources. However, that’s not a major issue; they can enter the city through Outfall and search for Water Supply Pipeline in the Underground Pipeline. Even untreated tap water can be used.
As for what the future holds, they have lost all hope.
Until now, the arrival of Zheng Yifan and his Hope Group may just be their salvation.
Or it could be a nightmare, as they come armed with weapons and Ammunition, ready to land and clear out all Zombies and anyone who disobeys. Zheng Yifan and his group wouldn’t mind adding another Zombie Crystal to their collection.
The rules of the apocalypse are that simple and straightforward. (To be continued)
