Negotiations were still ongoing, but the fighting continued. Zheng Yifan would not lead anyone to search for Survivors, nor would he guide them in gathering supplies. Tokyo had once been one of the most prosperous cities in Asia, and there were many resources that Zheng Yifan needed.
It had to be admitted that the Easterners were quite formidable when it came to high technology. While these technologies were not particularly useful in the Apocalyptic World, they were essential for Zheng Yifan and his group now. Many of the items they acquired could not be utilized due to a lack of supporting facilities, which Zheng Yifan could easily obtain in the real world.
Moreover, the apocalypse in the real world had not lasted long, allowing them to gather all available food supplies.
In such an environment, whoever controlled food controlled life; whoever wielded weapons held the future.
While those around the front lines were slowly searching, there was a need to accelerate their efforts.
The Armed Helicopter took on a crucial role, becoming the primary force to attract Zombies. The warriors remained at fixed shooting positions to attack the Zombies.
Zheng Yifan did not employ fire attacks; in the Apocalyptic World, they were often in remote areas where fire could be used without concern for cleaning up the battlefield afterward.
However, this was a city. A large fire meant to clear out all the Zombies would be uncontrollable, leaving behind troublesome remnants.
The battle continued. At the front lines, Zheng Yifan sat in the Armed Helicopter, tasked with attracting Zombies. Below him trailed hundreds of thousands of Zombies, and the entire block was overrun. The Armed Helicopter was dragging a massive contraption that resembled a sprinkler, spraying countless amounts of blood.
That blood was collected from nearly half a month's worth of slaughter from the Slaughterhouse.
Now everything was laid bare. The main objective was to lead the Zombies to follow the Armed Helicopter as it began to move slowly.
Ultimately, they would need to be eliminated.
A line of defense surrounded the entire city of Tokyo, while dozens of Patrol Teams outside managed the scattered Zombie cleanup. Those pesky Zombies occasionally ventured into the city, and now Zheng Yifan's group was preparing to release large quantities of blood.
This would inevitably attract a massive number of Zombies.
The Zombies throughout the city had already been triggered. Zheng Yifan's power could clear away these Zombies. It felt like a slaughter; however, his subordinates needed training. If he relied solely on the Avatar of the Believers to eliminate Zombies, his future subordinates would merely become a group of idle Fellows.
This was something he could not tolerate. The only outcome was to have all the Zombies cleared out by his subordinates, while also training their killing abilities and selecting talents among them.
Zheng Yifan's actions did not provoke any response from others; instead, it was the Zombies that faced a devastating blow.
Hundreds of thousands of Zombies followed closely behind the Armed Helicopter on the streets. Although Zheng Yifan had gathered such a large number of Zombies due to the need to clear the main streets, their destination was a designated thoroughfare. Zheng Yifan did not know where this place was; he only knew that there were numerous Stores here, likely in what used to be a bustling street, now capable of accommodating a vast number of Zombies. Naturally, there would also be powerful warriors equipped with countless weapons.
At the end of the road stood thirty Machine Guns, ordered to eliminate all Zombies. Each Machine Gun had only one trajectory at this moment: straight ahead.
The Zombies kept coming; their sense of smell was incredibly strong, allowing them to detect other Zombies from several kilometers away.
When Zheng Yifan arrived, they were already eager to engage. Dozens of Transport Vehicles were parked behind, ready to replenish Ammunition at any moment. Thirty conveyor belts could transport bullets up at any time.
These conveyor belts were specially designed for Machine Gunners, and the entire Bullet System had become an absolute quick-change mechanism. There was no second of attack cessation; bullets were fired infinitely. The Supplies behind continuously replenished the bullets in front.
Zheng Yifan observed everything arranged tightly and felt quite pleased. His subordinates had begun to accurately execute precise strikes and carry out new large-scale battles.
The Mercenary Mode typically involved shooting and moving to another location, rarely engaging in Defensive Warfare. However, the people Zheng Yifan led were implementing Defensive Warfare, allowing the Zombies to come to them as their strategy.
Defensive battles were always much easier than offensive ones. Moreover, facing Zombies—these monsters with overwhelming numbers—was particularly troublesome; only defensive strategies could easily bury them without needing to advance for attacks.
Attacking Zombies often turned into a tug-of-war. If a powerful Zombie broke through, it could cause the entire line to collapse as soon as it breached their defenses. This was the most terrifying aspect of Zombies; no matter how many you killed, they didn’t care. But once a gap opened in your line, it meant total collapse.
Zheng Yifan and his team rarely engaged in offensive battles; even when clearing cities, they would conduct extensive Defensive Warfare for this very reason.
They could not rely on ordinary Submachine Guns to deal with formidable Zombies; doing so would easily result in their lines being torn apart.
Then countless Zombies would attack, leaving no possibility for survival—they would die, utterly and completely.
After Zheng Yifan landed, he reached one of the Machine Gun firing positions he had reserved. Two Combatants followed closely behind him; they were his Assistants.
The two guys next to him glanced at Zheng Yifan.
The man on the left was in his thirties, his face scarred and his bare upper body revealing numerous knife wounds.
"Hey, do you know where I got these scars? I was captured during a battle, and those poor bastards had their way with me. It took me three whole nights to survive, and then I spent over two years recovering," the big man said, his voice hoarse as if he had undergone surgery. Zheng Yifan believed this man had truly suffered; even his throat might have been used against him as a weapon, with chili water being the least of his worries.
"You’re a tough guy, but taking down a Zombie isn’t about experience. How about we see who has the higher headshot rate? Just don’t let a Zombie get too close," Zheng Yifan replied with a smile.
Real warriors were always straightforward.
The big man burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! I like your spirit! There has to be some fun on the battlefield. If you win, I’ll let you have the next girl I score," he said.
"And if you win, I’ll just give you a girl!" Zheng Yifan replied, giving him a thumbs up.
"Deal!" the big man laughed heartily. The girls that could be given away usually weren’t of great quality, while those obtained in the Post-Apocalypse were all the most beautiful women.
But he didn’t care; he just needed a wager to make the fight more thrilling!!! (To be continued...)
