"Rat-a-tat-tat!" The sound of a machine gun echoed, surrounded by smiles that hinted at satisfaction. They had fired their last bullets, nearly exhausting their ammunition. In front of them stood over a dozen zombies, a number that no longer seemed intimidating. Thirty individuals drew their handguns from their waists and gently squeezed the triggers.
A series of attacks took down the zombies.
Victory was written on everyone's faces. The logistics personnel had already arrived, but the warriors in front prevented them from continuing to supply ammunition.
Facing such a small number of zombies, they felt no sense of crisis. Zheng Yifan even crossed his arms, watching as these people recklessly dispatched the zombies with their handguns.
They had become overly arrogant, but against first-level zombies, they could afford to be cocky and reckless. This attitude yielded results; they achieved rapid kill rates, eliminating zombies in the shortest possible time.
Cleaning up the entire world meant slaughtering billions of zombies. Logistics factories began laying down assembly lines that had long been in existence, with military factories operating at full capacity. The goal was to ensure ammunition supply at the front lines, requiring approximately 100 billion rounds—a staggering amount. After all, they could not guarantee that future missions would be this easy; cleaning operations would be challenging. It was common to expend an entire magazine on a single zombie. When clearing rooms, upon opening a door, they would immediately encounter zombies and had no time to aim for the head; they had to pull the trigger at first sight. Using the kinetic energy of bullets to crush the zombies before slowly aiming for their skulls.
They wouldn't undertake missions alone either. Some would carry Remington 870 shotguns for maximum impact, causing the zombies' bodies to stagger before using submachine guns to finish them off.
Their tasks were heavy; collecting zombie fluid was also in the works. Collectors were being gradually manufactured using siphon principles to gather all zombie fluid, which would be sealed and transported to farms for secondary processing into fertile soil.
Even if the land in cities became fertile, it was mostly reinforced concrete. On asphalt roads, zombie fluid could accumulate and slowly enter the sewer system.
Those asphalt roads did not absorb zombie fluid.
They had long dispatched personnel to clean and collect at sewer system nodes, flushing large amounts of clean water through the sewers—a task already completed.
Zheng Yifan was responsible for combat operations, while Berry and others had arranged logistics meticulously. The entire think tank team played an indispensable role in this effort.
"Hey! Buddy, it's time to cash in on that promise!" Zheng Yifan said with a smile, looking at the burly man beside him. The fellow's face immediately turned pale. In this world, debts must be repaid. After all the effort to earn a reward, which could lead to enjoying special services from star-level beauties, he was now losing it all.
Seeing his expression was painful to behold. Zheng Yifan chuckled and reached out. He watched as the fellow reluctantly pulled out a card resembling a metal business card from his pocket, handing it over to Zheng Yifan with a pained expression, as if he were parting with two ounces of flesh.
"Hahaha! A man must keep his word. But I can't just take advantage of you; let me give you a gift too. I like you, buddy!" Zheng Yifan patted the rugged man on the back and smiled as he pulled out a golden card from his own pocket and placed it in the man's hand.
The man was stunned. He had never seen this type of card before, but he recognized gold when he felt its weight in his hand. The various exchange cards in the Gathering Place had clear standards, but he had never encountered a golden card.
It was reminiscent of life after the apocalypse; those golden cards were undoubtedly privilege cards.
However, upon examining the card in his hand, he quickly realized it was a disposable card.
There was a thumb-sized hole on it, indicating that it could only be used once. In contrast, the card given to Zheng Yifan was part of an entire set of service cards—an entire set! Some services could be enjoyed for an extended period.
What he didn't know was that the card Zheng Yifan had given him was quite special; it was one of the latest cards he had created. There were only 1,000 of them made, and each card allowed its holder to take away one beauty from the Special Camp. These beauties were either captives taken from the battlefield or volunteers who entered willingly, along with gifts sent by others.
In the future, there would be many opportunities to receive beauties; creating these cards now was meant to facilitate that.
The golden card had a low security level and was intended for ordinary warriors. In contrast, upper-level personnel received diamond cards, which allowed them to claim their spoils as well. However, the beauties associated with diamond cards were carefully selected, ensuring that the chances of spies being present were nearly zero.
This was also why such information circulated only within the Management Team.
Members of the Management Team could not use golden cards, while ordinary warriors were able to use diamond cards.
However, Zheng Yifan would not give him a Diamond Card; he simply found this man pleasing to the eye. A Golden Card would suffice, ensuring him a period of happiness.
He believed that the man would find someone special because the entire world would tremble beneath Zheng Yifan's feet at Hope Group. No one would be spared, and those beautiful women who sought wealth and status without capital would inevitably swarm like moths to a flame.
Zheng Yifan welcomed all comers and did not wish for any leader-level figures to be infiltrated by spies; thus, he could only resort to certain measures.
Real-world matters were underway, with the next step being the conquest of the entire Japan region. These tasks would be quite tedious. Zheng Yifan would only make occasional appearances during the conquest of several Metropolis cities; he had no interest in participating in every battle. The Apocalyptic World presented higher challenges, with varying levels of Zombies.
Among the upper echelons of Hope Group, only those who had followed Zheng Yifan from the beginning would attain high positions in the future. The lower-tier personnel, after the transition, would hand over their responsibilities to the Hope Gathering Place in the Apocalyptic World, becoming a faction under its banner. Although the population might grow significantly in the future, a portion of them would inevitably turn into Zombies and would need to adapt.
Most importantly, Zheng Yifan felt it was essential to educate them about the terror of Zombies.
As they prepared to conquer much of the Earth in the future. (To be continued...)
