The Seven Legion, a newly risen noble faction in the city of Anton, boasts the largest number of warriors and the strongest weapons. The reason this area is referred to as the border is that it possesses a vast array of weaponry that other cities lack. The quantity of ammunition here surpasses that of any other city, though they have only a limited supply of large missiles; most of their arsenal consists of bullets and firearms.
This is more than enough. Their current objective is to seize control of the city, and those damned zombies will surely perish in the process.
Everyone firmly believes that due to their special mission, which involves controlling dozens of strategic supply points nearby, they can access the stockpiled ammunition accumulated since the War of Resistance and the Cold War.
Such extraordinary times have created unique circumstances; the weapons from that era are still functional and well-maintained. They are currently engaged in a relentless campaign against the city, aiming to secure those resources.
However, their mood has noticeably soured due to the sudden appearance of some inexplicable entities outside.
"Hey! Are you sure this ridiculous flying machine can hold up for long? We don't want to get taken out by them!" Zheng Yifan exclaimed, looking at Wang Qi in disbelief.
They were floating in mid-air above a bizarre weapon or possibly a weapons platform, resembling a flying saucer with an entirely hollow structure, equipped with over a dozen machine guns on top.
Most importantly, the material surrounding them seemed exceptionally unique, capable of effectively resisting laser-guided weapons.
Zheng Yifan had no idea about the underlying technology; he was simply crouched there, continuously pulling the trigger.
The two resembled kids trying out shooting games at an arcade, frantically pulling triggers while watching their stored ammunition dwindle.
Their target was a place known as the Seven Legion. It was a nightmare for everyone—a stronghold ruled by a ruthless leader.
They were determined to eliminate the main culprits behind the destruction of most buildings in the city. Zheng Yifan was not going to let them off easily; it was time for them to taste fear.
It was not the Avatar of the Believers; those Avatars were still busy clearing the city. It would take some time to completely cleanse the entire area. Through the phone, Zheng Yifan learned about the progress in Japan. The integration in Japan was remarkably swift, and Survivors were beginning to arrange for the resumption of production, working to restore the Post-Apocalypse.
The more humans there were, the better. They represented labor power, signifying robust manufacturing capabilities.
Zheng Yifan's own Hope Gathering Place struggled with its manufacturing capabilities; the industrial chain could not be completed, and in many areas, a true industrial chain had yet to form. They were still relying on the remnants of the Post-Apocalypse.
They could not produce high-precision Electronic Chips or advanced equipment. They had reached a standstill. Despite possessing a more glorious civilization, the human population in the Apocalyptic World was dwindling too quickly. This place was not like the real world; here, Zombies were only at a basic level—mere cannon fodder. In contrast, over there, Advanced Zombies were prevalent. If a few Fourth-Stage Zombies were to come here, it would surely result in heavy casualties among the warriors of the Hope Group. They would have no choice but to flee, and might even resort to using nuclear weapons.
However, it would be of little use. Nuclear weapons posed minimal threat to Fourth-Stage Zombies. Their reaction times were incredibly fast, coupled with formidable offensive and survival capabilities.
The damage that could kill humans might as well be seen as delightful nourishment for them.
Zheng Yifan did not want to cultivate any mutated monster Zombies. The current situation was already quite enough for him. Just dealing with that Sun God Zombie was enough to give Zheng Yifan a headache; he couldn't even imagine what other monstrous Zombies lurked elsewhere.
This world had already entered a phase of Nuclear War. Numerous locations had erupted into conflict; although these were not high-yield explosions, people understood that using too many powerful nuclear weapons would provoke backlash. Yet they still proceeded with their actions.
Zheng Yifan's time was growing tighter because his homeland was a heavily affected area of Nuclear War. Dozens of nuclear bombs had already detonated, leaving at least several cities in ruins where human survival was nearly impossible—recovery might take centuries.
This was humanity's destruction of the natural environment, requiring a hundred years to repay.
Zheng Yifan did not wish to inherit a mess; thus, he had no choice but to fight desperately. Now, those below him were the first line of defense.
He pulled the trigger, each shot landing squarely on the heads of those deranged individuals. Beside him, Wang Qi was different; lacking Zheng Yifan's shooting skills, he seemed like someone handling a gun for the first time. His shooting skills were poor, but this fellow wasn’t foolish—he avoided aiming at moving targets and instead took cover as a crouching player.
He lay there, staring at several camp doors, contemplating how to shoot. He had already tested his shooting positions. As soon as someone stepped out, he would unleash a barrage of fire!
However, the result was quite embarrassing. Even if those people employed tactical evasion, they couldn't withstand the relentless fire of a machine gun. This wasn't a submachine gun; it didn't have such a quick reload time, nor did it run out of ammunition. His shooting felt like a mockery of those soldiers—constantly firing, yet only about 10% of the bullets would hit their targets.
Zheng Yifan was different. Anyone who dared to run out was met with a headshot from him. Dodging Wang Qi's fire was hardly a blessing because they were facing death—facing Zheng Yifan.
"Look! They're starting to fight back. I hope your damn equipment works," Zheng Yifan said, watching the surface-to-air missile flying toward them, feeling anxious inside.
After all, he had never tried this before. Previously, he had only fought against zombies; no matter how bizarre they were, it always came down to a few moves.
Missiles were different. He was acutely aware of their power; in his subconscious, he knew just how devastating they could be. That's why he felt worried.
But Wang Qi was completely unfazed. He saw the missile approaching at lightning speed but didn't seem to care what button he pressed.
Suddenly, bursts of white light shot out, followed by strange waves.
These waves seemed to emerge from the void itself, and then they saw the missile curve in mid-air, turning back toward its launch position before accelerating to its maximum speed and diving straight down.
"Boom!" The explosion sent flames soaring into the sky, and the ground echoed with cries of despair. Yet none of this could dampen Zheng Yifan's shock. (To be continued...)
