On the Green River Bridge, four tanks were clearing the way, charging head-on towards the Dump Truck. The Dump Truck appeared larger, but when it came to material strength, the tanks were undoubtedly superior.
Just then, a gunshot rang out, and the tracks of the lead tank were completely severed. The left track was entirely broken and immobilized, while the right track still functioned.
However, the driver inside was too afraid to proceed. With one side operational, the tank would spin uncontrollably. In just a few seconds, it had already collided with the adjacent tank. If any more force was applied, it could lead to a far worse accident.
At that moment, two tanks came to a halt as well. However, their turrets remained trained on the Dump Truck, ready to fire at any moment.
Suddenly, another gunshot echoed from afar, followed by two explosions. The faces of all the Korean soldiers turned grim. This situation had become intolerable; they had been bullied repeatedly, and more importantly, their tanks were now damaged after several assaults.
This time was particularly infuriating as the main cannon had been struck by those bullets. One shot hit the rear of the cannon while another lodged itself in the barrel.
Who knew how those Chinese managed to design such precision weaponry?
These two shots were fired by Zheng Yifan's Avatar of the Believers. The Survivors did not possess such shooting skills. Although Zheng Yifan's shooting skills were not top-tier, using a Superpowered Individual's body and reflexes against ordinary people was an overwhelming advantage in combat.
With just three light shots, he rendered the two most powerful tanks in front completely useless.
The two tanks found themselves in a predicament with no way forward or backward.
In the end, it was unclear which officer gave the order, but the tank with damaged tracks and cannon was abandoned. The other tanks and vehicles maneuvered around it and continued their advance.
As for the tank crew inside, they quickly climbed out and joined their comrades, waiting to capture more tanks.
Their tanks were all in disrepair—so much so that they could be displayed in a museum back in China—but they were still in use now.
Through military intelligence, they understood just how advanced Chinese tanks were and what terrifying firepower was needed to truly destroy them.
In this situation, their plan was to eliminate those civilian soldiers and seize Chinese weaponry.
They were simply daydreaming; Zheng Yifan would not give them that choice. Even when the Seven Legion was present, they would not have this opportunity. Despite the Seven Legion having only around two thousand members, the weapons they possessed were beyond what these people could compare to. Moreover, there was a military base nearby, capable of launching missiles at any moment.
“Buzz!” Just as Zheng Yifan was in the midst of sniping, a small patch of black clouds appeared in the sky, and five fighter jets flew into view. It felt somewhat reminiscent of an old movie, with the robust fuselage of the MiG series aircraft looking quite impressive.
However, times had progressed, and the equipment of the old MiGs was simply too outdated; their speed had been completely left behind by modern advancements.
Even if they returned to the battlefield, it remained laughable.
A standard surface-to-air rocket launcher could take them down, provided they descended to a dangerous altitude.
But it was clear that the enemy would not lower their altitude. They only needed to cause destruction. All targets were locked onto several residential buildings across the bridge, where flames had just flickered moments ago. Their goal was to blow up those buildings to allow ground troops to rush in.
They understood their mission.
But Zheng Yifan would not give them that chance.
“Eve, destroy all enemy aircraft! Leave none!” Zheng Yifan commanded through his communicator. This was his ultimate trump card; Eve was a true supercomputer that assisted Zheng Yifan in managing a vast array of weaponry.
With a single command from Zheng Yifan, Eve immediately prepared surface-to-air missiles for launch.
In just a matter of seconds, all missiles were ready. There was none of the slow-motion action seen in movies; today’s surface-to-air missiles had completely entered a new era. By the time all missiles were launched, Zheng Yifan hadn’t even hung up the phone yet.
These aircraft had long been on the radar at the base. Against surface-to-air missiles, modern fighter jets might have a chance to evade, but these old MiGs had no possibility of escape whatsoever. Within less than a minute, ordinary surface-to-air missiles locked onto these fighter jets, and soon after, one could see magnificent fireworks in midair.
The fighter jets that Goryeo had spent many resources acquiring were now all destroyed. At this point, aerial combat in this battle was entirely unnecessary because the skies belonged to Zheng Yifan.
The enemies on the bridge were also struggling. Zheng Yifan had blocked their passage with dump trucks; they needed to clear the road before proceeding. Even more frustratingly, those dump trucks coming toward them could only be dealt with using RPGs. The damage inflicted wasn’t significant, but these vehicles took up space; after exploding, they continued to burn and made navigating the road even more difficult.
As Zheng Yifan observed through his binoculars, he felt a pang of heartache. Damn it, this was his bridge! Any future troop movements would have to pass through here. No matter how damaged this bridge became, it would be his pocket that paid for it.
In the end, there was no choice. Zheng Yifan quickly ordered a swift resolution.
His Avatar of the Believers began to attack frantically, firing at the fastest possible speed.
Even though the shooting distance wasn't ideal and the Machine Guns lacked precision, the enemies were all on the bridge, making it the perfect position for an assault.
The bridge had no cover; bullets could easily strike them. Even the armored vehicles were of no use.
The ordinary armored vehicles of the Korean Soldiers had thin armor, and their weapons were ineffective. Within the range of the Machine Guns, they could be easily swept away, while their own weapons had a maximum shooting distance of 800 meters, with effective accuracy only at a much shorter range.
The difference was stark. Zheng Yifan's Machine Guns were all upgraded versions, meticulously crafted without any shortcuts taken. The sights were held to the highest standards.
These military supplies might not mean much to a country, but for an individual or a poorer nation, they were unattainable.
Zheng Yifan was wealthy; his money flowed in like water, allowing him to spend freely.
At that moment, the other shooting positions, where the former Administrators and Fellows were stationed, also went wild.
It was unclear who started it, but shouts erupted: "Kill these Goryeo bastards! Go for it!" (To be continued...)
