Although his maximum combat power had slightly decreased, it did not significantly affect Zheng Yifan. His strength had already reached the limits imposed by the Primordial Pearl, and as a newcomer to this system, any overflow of power would not be compressed, ensuring that his combat effectiveness remained intact.
Most importantly, as long as he operated under the System's rules, there was a subtle force at play—the minimum threshold of power. This meant that as long as he did not evade attacks, every strike in battle would inflict a guaranteed minimum damage of one point.
No matter how powerful his enemies were, this force would persist. Like water dripping through stone, it would enable numerous Superpowered Individuals to unleash even greater strength.
What Zheng Yifan truly wanted to test was whether Firearms Super 5 and Superpowered Individual would be recognized. If they were acknowledged, it would be exhilarating. With thousands of bullets fired per minute from a Machine Gun at the Hope Gathering Place, the lethality in battle would skyrocket.
The Firearm Esper would become even more formidable; if Zombies were attracted for a Siege battle, it would be even more thrilling. All he needed to do was shoot those Zombies down. The minimum damage would make them suffer greatly.
Zheng Yifan smiled as he gazed at the Primordial Pearl, feeling the fluctuations of Vital Energy around him.
However, he did not immediately take the Primordial Pearl. He needed its power.
The strength of the Primordial Pearl had diminished significantly—truly a lot. In fact, the System God's power also required sustenance. All strength came from Superpowered Individuals; it was a mutually beneficial model. Completing System tasks replenished the Primordial Pearl's energy, which in turn expanded the System God's power.
Initially, the System God's influence might have only covered a village. It took these individuals three years of relentless task completion for their territory to expand continuously.
Now, only Niu remained committed to completing tasks; others had stopped entirely, indirectly causing a significant reduction in the System God's power.
"Let me see if this Fellow can be swayed by me," Zheng Yifan mused. Those who wished to exchange could use the portable shop to purchase simple items. He decided to test its effectiveness. Placing his hands on the Primordial Pearl, he infused it with his own Vital Energy. At that moment, his primary goal was to convey a message to the Primordial Pearl: he needed the System to activate donation mode so that people could contribute resources and gain management authority recognized by the System God.
This was a form of communication, akin to a simple intelligent exchange, far inferior to that of an intelligent computer.
The process of communication was not smooth. As Zheng Yifan's power entered the Primordial Pearl, he could feel his Vital Energy replenishing it. However, what was being activated was not the power of the Primordial Pearl itself, but rather the initial setup for opening the Vitality Tower that emerged after his own and other Primordial Pearls came together.
Without the assistance of other Primordial Pearls, the power of this particular Primordial Pearl instantly transformed into a secondary option, directly absorbing Zheng Yifan's Vital Energy.
At the same time, his intentions began to gradually enter the Primordial Pearl, which he slowly started to comprehend.
Time seemed to stretch on. The Primordial Pearl resembled a first-generation computer, with an incredibly slow processing speed, though it did possess some level of intelligence.
It was unclear why this was the case. Regardless, Zheng Yifan's intentions did not yield any change in the entire System until half an hour later.
"Ding! The System God is undergoing its third update, with an estimated update time of five minutes. Players are advised to stay away from danger; the System's power will cease for five minutes."
A crisp voice rang in Zheng Yifan's ears. This was the transmission of the System God's power.
It seemed that his intentions had been understood by the Primordial Pearl and were being genuinely addressed.
Five minutes was a wait Zheng Yifan could endure while the System God began its upgrade phase—enhancing its power and authority.
"Zhang Qiang, what was it like when the System God upgraded before? Hasn't it happened twice already?" Zheng Yifan asked Zhang Qiang, who was waiting outside.
Zhang Qiang's face showed signs of tension; he truly did not know what Zheng Yifan needed.
Now that the System God was right in front of them, how they would take it away remained a question. They had no idea how to transfer the System God; otherwise, they would have done so long ago.
There were no surplus resources left here.
"During the first upgrade, everyone could start exchanging resources and food; a long list of daily necessities appeared. Then during the second upgrade, the Safe Zone was established."
"This place wasn't originally a Safe Zone; it only became one a year and a half after the apocalypse began. In the beginning, we all fought for our lives to eliminate all the Zombies. Later on, as you know, resources were initially abundant. The nearby granaries all entered into the System; we just needed to complete tasks to exchange for food." He began reminiscing about their once happy life.
In those early days, they could still use food to purchase many resources outside—luxury items. Some even bought piles of useless luxury goods from the post-apocalypse era.
Some people had collected several luxury cars.
But now?
These things were of no use at all. They couldn't even be exchanged for a grain of rice.
These Survivors had experienced over two years of a blissful life, only to face the apocalypse. They lacked any particularly powerful Superpowered Individuals, and now life was difficult.
However, Zheng Yifan was already prepared to absorb their mission rewards.
It was known that although they had not received rewards for their missions before, the System God's Currency had become exceedingly abundant. If he didn't absorb a large batch first, Zheng Yifan would suffer significant losses in the future.
