Shushuilu
The horse racing game was the most popular among all, with a low betting amount and the highest payout rate. Almost everyone near the machines would give it a try.
This game tested one's instincts, and Superpowered Individuals were particularly adept at it.
However, the game itself had limited stakes, and the betting amounts were quite small; it was merely a form of entertainment for everyone.
More people engaged in strategic battles at various gaming tables. The most captivating game for Zheng Yifan featured a sci-fi theme, with two robots on the table. Their adversaries were Zombies. Holographic Projection Technology was utilized to its fullest extent.
The two robots fought against the Zombies, each Zombie defeated awarded points. The players could continuously earn rewards during the battle and draw Equipment Cards to enhance their warriors.
Others could place bets on the side, influencing the Mecha Warrior's attack and defense with each wager.
It resembled an electronic game; traditional Poker Games had nearly been eliminated because they were no longer playable. There were too many Superpowered Individuals who could sway the outcome even without using their powers. Thus, electronic games and gambling became even more appealing.
In a short while, the battle concluded. The two players faced a horde of Zombies and their mechs were shattered. The warriors fell in battle, and after calculating the stakes, the Computer distributed the winnings in New Hope Currency.
These games attracted younger audiences, while the bloodiest spectacle in the entire casino took place in the central arena.
There, beasts fought against Zombies, surrounded by walls made of super-thick Reinforced Glass, equipped with multiple layers of protection. Inside lay powerful weapons capable of killing them.
This ensured safety and was one of the most strictly regulated activities in Las Vegas.
Yet, Hope Gathering Place still allowed them to participate.
The main reason was that within Hope Gathering Place, there was a constant need to remind people that creatures like Zombies existed in this world. The Zombies and beasts inside were all classified as Third Stage.
The arena spanned just over a hundred square meters, filled with the roars of Zombies while beasts sought opportunities to strike.
Li Ning explained from the sidelines.
It turned out that these Zombies and beasts were additional income for the Explorer Alliance at the Hope Gathering Place. Whenever they encountered a lone beast or Zombie outside, they would capture it. Then, using specialized equipment, they would bring it back and sell it to the casino.
The casino naturally had a robust set of security measures in place. Every month, the Hope Gathering Place would send people to inspect the equipment and ensure everything was functioning properly.
This was also one of the most troublesome matters for the Hope Gathering Place.
While Zheng Yifan was still unaware of the casino's beast-fighting arena plans, Han Rui and the Think Tank had already made all the necessary preparations.
Han Rui held decision-making authority, so this matter was approved without hesitation.
Zheng Yifan couldn't be expected to constantly make decisions about such things at the Gathering Place; he couldn't leave everything hanging until he returned.
As Zheng Yifan listened to Li Ning's explanations, the match had already begun.
Betting was still open, but the odds had started to drop, meaning that most bets were placed before the fight began.
Zheng Yifan symbolically placed a bet of a few dozen dollars on the beast across from him.
The odds were 1:194 for the beast, while the odds for the Zombie were 1:15.
This indicated that the casino favored the Zombie. The beast appeared to be an ordinary dog from the Post-Apocalypse, a so-called Teddy. After its mutation, it had grown significantly larger, standing about half a person tall, with brown fur that surrounded its body like a fluffy ball.
However, no one believed in its chances because the disparity in strength was too great.
The Teddy's voice trembled as it stared at the Zombie across from it. Onlookers could see a hint of helplessness on the dog's face.
The beasts of today were no longer those ignorant creatures from the early days of the apocalypse; they had developed some emotions and intelligence.
Especially Post-Apocalypse pet dogs; it was impossible to regard them as mere ferocious beasts.
Zheng Yifan had made a decision. If this dog were to encounter any danger, he would use his own strength to help it.
In the future, there would need to be special regulations; even wild beasts had to be categorized. Beasts that posed a threat to humans must be eliminated immediately to prevent future problems. However, those that showed goodwill towards humans and did not cause harm should be protected and even domesticated, so they would no longer be so ferocious.
There could even be designated resting areas for the wild beasts in the future.
The simplest solution would be to find an isolated island and relocate the beasts there.
This way, a stable food chain could be ensured, and a large number of beasts on a fixed island would not become too dispersed.
Humans would also clear out their living space and would not have to worry about surprise attacks from wild beasts.
Suddenly, the beast gate opened, and the Zombie had been hungry for who knows how long. It was exceptionally fierce from the start. Teddy, on the other hand, kept retreating, its fur bristling all over.
This was definitely its way of protecting itself. A Third Stage beast was no docile pet from the Post-Apocalypse; their target was the Zombie, which was merely food to them.
As the Zombie lunged forward, Teddy sprang into action, its fur swirling in the air as large clumps fell away. Its claws raked fiercely across the right leg of the Third-Stage Zombie.
A deep wound was carved out in one swift motion.
Clever.
The Zombie's right leg bore evident scars, likely from injuries sustained when the apocalypse first began. Attacking its weakest enemy now could leave it crippled, allowing for continuous ambushes.
The Zombie began to attack Teddy frantically.
The Zombie's advantages were its seemingly endless stamina and formidable defensive capabilities.
Just like now; if the Zombie were to strike Teddy, it could tear him apart in an instant. However, attacking this Third-Stage Zombie proved to be quite difficult; multiple strikes at the same spot were necessary to inflict any damage on it.
The battle was so intense that all one could see was the Zombie helplessly flailing its arms, yet it could never land a hit on the Teddy.
In the end, it never even grazed the Teddy.
Its fur had already vanished; every time it was about to be struck, its hair would puff up and then shed automatically, making it impossible for the opponent to see where its body truly was.
At this point in the fight, the outcome had already been decided.
The crowd was in an uproar, and everyone who had bet on the Teddy was starting to get excited.
Boss, I want to exchange something at the management office. This is a treasure I dug out from my old house; I want to pawn it.
In the crowd, a flushed Fellow received around twenty thousand New Hope Currency and began shouting wildly, convinced that he would soon place another bet and go for another big win.
At that moment, Zheng Yifan seemed to hear a name.
Gan Jiang. (To be continued…)
