The ghost's eyes were eerie, featuring slitted pupils that resembled those of a snake, yet they were not exactly the same. The ghost's left eye had a red iris, while the right eye was green, creating a strikingly discordant appearance.
"Big Brother, do you think my eyes are beautiful?" The ghost wore a brazen, wicked smile as he closed his right eye and gazed at me with the glowing red left eye.
"Not at all!" I felt a sharp pain in my eyes, and an ominous premonition surged within me. I quickly shut my eyes and turned my head away, avoiding the ghost's gaze.
After a moment, the stinging sensation in my eyes faded. I cautiously opened them again and looked ahead. This time, I remained vigilant and avoided looking into the ghost's eyes.
"Friend, that old man named Wang Hai says you've been a bit naughty lately. He specifically asked me to come over and give you a good beating! Do you want to have a little duel with me?" I spoke seriously, feeling confident. I had sensed the ghost's aura earlier and realized he wasn't very strong—just slightly more powerful than an ordinary Evil Spirit. Even though my left hand was incapacitated, dealing with him would still be more than manageable.
"Hey? Where did he go?" I glanced around and noticed the ghost was no longer there. The environment around me had changed as well. Looking around, I found myself standing at the edge of a cliff. Peering down, I saw that the abyss seemed bottomless, with clouds swirling below—at least several thousand meters high.
"Oh my gosh! What is happening? I have acrophobia!" I was nearly in tears, cold sweat pouring from my forehead as my legs trembled weakly. Taking a deep breath, I began to move away from the cliff's edge while shouting loudly, "This is an illusion; it isn't real! It's just a trick created by that ghost—don't be afraid!"
Although I shouted these words, fear still gripped me. I continued to reassure myself as I moved for two or three minutes until I finally stepped back from the cliff's edge by at least four or five meters.
"Phew! That scared me to death!" I exhaled deeply and wiped the sweat from my forehead with my left hand. Suddenly, I realized that my left hand, which had been affected by Voodoo, could move again; the Black Blood on my arm had vanished.
"It seems this really is an illusion! How can I escape this dreamscape?" My mind raced as I considered how ghosts typically create illusions to frighten Living Persons. However, illusions vary in strength.
Simple illusions can trap Living Persons for only a few seconds, causing momentary disorientation—something quite common in daily life. In contrast, powerful illusions can imprison a Living Person's thoughts, rendering them catatonic or even scaring them to death.
There are many ways to escape an illusion; one of the simplest yet most drastic methods is to commit suicide within the illusion to jolt one's spirit awake in reality. However, if someone cannot distinguish whether they are in reality or an illusion, then this method is not advisable.
"Am I really supposed to jump down from here? This is way too high!" Even though I knew I was in an illusion, I still couldn't bring myself to leap off the cliff. Just then, a gust of wind swept across the edge, and before I could steady myself, I tumbled down the cliff.
"Ah! No!" I screamed with my eyes shut tight, feeling my body in free fall, my limbs flailing wildly as I desperately tried to grab onto something to stop my descent.
In the basement, I remained in the same spot as that ghost, my eyes tightly closed, my face pale as a sheet of paper. My clothes were soaked with sweat, and my legs trembled uncontrollably as if I had been struck by sheer terror.
"Haha, interesting! Truly interesting!" The ghost grinned wickedly, still gazing at me with its glowing Left Eye. It blinked its Left Eye and said, "I'm not done playing yet; let's change things up!"
In the illusion, I lost track of time, only aware of my body continuing to fall. The sensation of weightlessness persisted, yet I still hadn't awakened.
After the ghost blinked its Left Eye again, the feeling of weightlessness abruptly vanished. My feet found solid ground once more, and my body regained its freedom.
"What is happening?" I opened my eyes to find myself standing in the middle of a road, surrounded by speeding cars. I had not escaped the illusion.
"Honk honk~~" Before I could react, a blaring car horn pierced through the air as a fast-moving vehicle barreled toward me. I felt myself being struck hard and sent flying through the air. I could even hear the sound of bones breaking, but strangely enough, I felt no pain.
"Damn it, this is another illusion!" I cursed inwardly but was at a loss for what to do. My body soon landed on the road, and before I could get back up, a large truck sped toward me. Its massive tires were headed straight for my head.
"I'm going to die!" Despite knowing this was an illusion, fear drained the color from my face as I stared at the approaching tire and desperately closed my eyes in despair.
"Crack~~" Just before everything went dark, I heard a sharp sound as the tire crushed my head into a pile of mush. White brain matter mixed with crimson blood created a gruesome sight.
After a moment, my once-drifting consciousness found its way back into a body. I opened my eyes and looked around at my surroundings; I still had not escaped from the illusion set by that ghost.
"Where am I this time?" I felt utterly powerless to resist, my expression numb as I looked around and realized I was trapped in a large iron cage, standing next to a majestic tiger.
"Roar~~" The tiger let out a fierce roar, its movements incredibly swift as it lunged at me with its front paws. I couldn't dodge in time; its claws pierced through my chest. After knocking me down, the tiger opened its massive jaws and bit down on my head, tearing it apart with a violent tug.
"This must be despair! But I will not give up! Demon, you cannot break me!" My heart was filled with fear, but I knew this was merely an illusion. As long as I didn't give in, I wouldn't succumb to the nightmare.
After more than ten minutes, I experienced four more deaths, each one vividly real and shocking to my senses, yet I remained unbroken by the fear within me.
In the basement, the demon's Left Eye glowed faintly, blood trickling from it. The sinister smile on his face had vanished. He wiped the blood from his face, closed his bloody Left Eye, and opened his right eye. His voice was cold as he said, "I didn't expect you to refuse to give up. Then let's see how you handle this!"
The fourth update is here, though it's a bit late!
