I stood outside for more than ten minutes before Jin Yuan called me back into the Buddhist Artifact Shop.
As I entered the shop, I glanced around and noticed that the broken items had been simply cleared away, leaving the place looking quite clean.
"Manager, are you alright?" I asked, feeling a bit guilty as I looked at Yu Yuanhang. Earlier, when I used my Buddha's Palm technique, I could clearly sense that Yu Yuanhang was struggling a bit, but I wasn't entirely sure about the final outcome.
Yu Yuanhang turned to look at me and replied calmly, "Jiang Ling, you really underestimate me! Your little tricks can't hurt me."
"Uh, whatever you say, Manager." I nodded. Although I saw a large bump on Yu Yuanhang's forehead, he pretended as if nothing was wrong. I felt too embarrassed to point it out.
Jin Yuan glanced at the time and said, "Manager, it's getting late. We should head out."
"Where are you all going?" I asked curiously.
Jin Yuan shot me an annoyed look and replied, "Tomorrow is the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the Lunar Calendar—Ghost Festival. Jiang Ling, you didn't forget, did you?"
"Uh, I actually did forget," I admitted. Having spent so much time in the Ghost Realm where time was chaotic, I lost track of it and didn't realize that Ghost Festival was upon us.
"Manager, wait for me a moment. I'll grab something," I said as I rushed into the bedroom to pick up my backpack from the floor. It was filled with magical tools. I had just returned to Buddha's Leap Shop and hadn't had time to organize it; now it seemed like we were heading out again.
I walked back into the shop with my backpack. There, Yu Yuanhang had already set up a formation and was ready to open the passage to Spirit Ghost Street.
Yu Yuanhang turned to Jin Yuan and said, "Jin Yuan, you stay behind this time to help with the shop renovations. Jiang Ling and I will go."
"Fine. But next year, you have to take me with you," Jin Yuan said reluctantly, glaring at me with a hint of menace in her eyes. If it weren't for my earlier actions that damaged the Buddhist Artifact Shop, she wouldn't have been left behind.
Feeling uneasy under Jin Yuan's gaze, I quickly moved closer to Yu Yuanhang and said, "Manager, let's get going."
Yu Yuanhang nodded and took out a string of prayer beads from his pocket. He formed a strange hand seal with his right hand while chanting incantations under his breath.
“Spirit Ghost Street, guarding the boundary between life and death. Humans and spirits coexist, gods and demons do not fight. With my power, I open the Ghost Gate,” Yu Yuanhang shouted loudly. He slapped his right hand on the array on the ground, and at that moment, the Buddhist beads in his hand emitted a beam of Golden Buddha Light. Soon, the surrounding space began to distort, and an ancient door appeared within the Buddhist Artifact Shop.
I saw that familiar door and couldn't help but clench my fists, murmuring to myself, “Spirit Ghost Street, I’m back!”
Long ago, my master had instructed me to visit Spirit Ghost Street during the Ghost Festival. Now that the appointed time had arrived, it was time to meet my master.
Opening the passage to Spirit Ghost Street required a guiding object, such as the Buddhist beads in Yu Yuanhang's hand. Previously, I had used a jade pendant passed down by my master, but that pendant had been snatched away by Jiang Bao, leaving me unable to open the passage to Spirit Ghost Street. I had no choice but to follow Yu Yuanhang closely to have a chance of reaching Spirit Ghost Street.
“Jiang Bao, you must be hiding something from me. This time, I will get to the bottom of it!” I thought to myself.
Suddenly, Yu Yuanhang grabbed my hand and rushed toward the door while saying, “Jiang Ling, hurry up and come in! This formation can only last for ten seconds.”
Just as Yu Yuanhang and I dashed through that door, the space inside the Buddhist Artifact Shop returned to normal. The door vanished without a trace as if it had never existed.
Jin Yuan looked at the spot where the passage had disappeared and huffed in annoyance. “Hmph, Jiang Ling, when you come back, I’ll make sure you pay for this.”
Glancing at the damaged area of the Buddhist Artifact Shop, she raised an eyebrow and muttered to herself, “I’ll deal with the renovations tomorrow. Staying up late is bad for a girl’s skin; I’m going back to sleep now.”
With that, Jin Yuan yawned, turned off the lights in the Buddhist Artifact Shop, locked the door, and went straight back to sleep.
Meanwhile, Yu Yuanhang and I stepped into Spirit Ghost Street. Looking at the crowded scene before us, we were momentarily taken aback.
“Wait a minute, why are there so many people in Ghost Street?” Yu Yuanhang frowned in confusion. He had visited Spirit Ghost Street several times during the Ghost Festival, but he had never seen so many people before.
Spirit Ghost Street itself was just an ordinary street with limited space; what truly mattered were the nine shops located on either side of Ghost Street.
Now, shadows filled every corner of Ghost Street. The people wore various outfits: some donned yellow Daoist Robes as Taoist Masters, while others wore blue monk robes as Buddhist Monks. There were also casual folk practitioners and some shady figures engaged in Evil Cultivation.
However, what stood out most were the ominous-looking underworld Ghost Messengers, powerful Souls from the Underworld, and even some rare creatures from the Yang Realm.
I looked at the crowd in front of me, a sense of foreboding creeping into my heart. I had seen this scene before, and that time, a shop in Spirit Ghost Street had changed owners.
"Manager, I have something to take care of. Let's part ways here. I'll find my way back later," I said to Yu Yuanhang, then turned and squeezed into the crowd, making my way toward my master's shop.
"Something must have happened!" As I walked, I noticed that all the shops along the street were closed, except for my master's shop, which was still open. The crowd in front of it lingered, unwilling to leave.
After much effort, I finally squeezed to the front of the shop and saw a familiar figure standing at the entrance—it was Cheng Zhong from inside the shop.
I hurried over to Cheng Zhong and asked, "Cheng Bo, what happened here? Why are all these people blocking our shop's entrance?"
Cheng Zhong looked surprised to see me suddenly appear. He pulled me aside and said, "Jiang Ling, what are you doing here? You shouldn't be here; you can't get involved in what's happening."
I sensed the helplessness in Cheng Zhong's tone, and my unease grew stronger. I glanced inside the shop and noticed it was empty—no one was inside.
Furrowing my brow, I asked, "Cheng Bo, what exactly happened? Where are my master and Jiang Bao? Where are they?"
