I nodded and said, "I recently visited the Ghost Realm, and this Spirit Fruit was obtained from there. Now that you recognize its origin, you should believe me."
Liu Zhenxian ignored me. He tossed the Spirit Fruit into his mouth and swallowed it in just a few bites. At that moment, the chaotic aura around him stabilized slightly, but one Spirit Fruit was far from enough for a complete recovery.
"Stinky Taoist, do you have any more Spirit Fruits? Hand them all over! I might show mercy and spare your life," Liu Zhenxian turned to me and asked coldly.
"I don't have any on me, but I know where to find more Spirit Fruits. If you let me go, I'll take you there," I replied calmly while discreetly pulling out the Nine-Dragon Cauldron from my backpack and taking a sip of the Elixir of Immortality that had just accumulated inside.
"Stinky Taoist, give me your backpack," Liu Zhenxian clearly didn't trust me. He reached out and snatched my backpack away, dumping its contents out and examining them closely.
I glanced down at my wounds and noticed that they had stopped bleeding and were slowly healing. Worried that Liu Zhenxian might notice my vulnerabilities, I quickly picked up a piece of clothing from the ground and put it on.
Turning to face Liu Zhenxian again, I saw that his attention was elsewhere. I swiftly reached into my pocket and pulled out the Buddhist Relic, quickly tossing it into my mouth.
"Liu Zhenxian, just wait. Once I refine this Buddhist Relic, my Buddhist Power will advance further. At that time, it will be your end!" I thought to myself as I secretly began to channel my internal Buddhist Power to digest the energy within the Buddhist Relic bit by bit.
After a while, Liu Zhenxian realized there were indeed no Spirit Fruits hidden in the backpack. He tossed it back to me and coldly asked, "Stinky Taoist, where are your Spirit Fruits?"
"I initially ventured into the Ghost Realm with a Daoist Master. Together we managed to seize thirty-two Yinling Flower fruits; I only got two Spirit Fruits while the other thirty are with that Daoist Master," I calmly fabricated a story as I took back my backpack and started putting the items back inside.
After some time, I slung the backpack over my shoulder again and said in a neutral tone, "The place where that Daoist Master resides isn't far from here. If you dare to go, I'll take you there right away."
Liu Zhenxian stared intently into my eyes, trying to detect any signs of deceit in my emotions. Knowing that to deceive him I couldn't show any weakness, I met his gaze without flinching.
After a while, Liu Zhenxian withdrew his gaze and said in a gloomy voice, "Stinky Taoist, I hope you haven't lied to me. If you are hoping for that Daoist Master to come and save you, then you can give up on that thought. Although I haven't fully regained my strength, dealing with a Daoist Master is still more than enough for me."
Liu Zhenxian then stretched out his hand and cast several strange spells towards the Tile House above. The surrounding environment twisted as the illusion created by the Eerie Aura vanished, revealing the true situation outside.
I looked around and realized that I was indeed in the cemetery where I had previously suspected the ashes were placed.
"Stinky Taoist, if you don't want to die, lead the way quickly. My patience is limited," Liu Zhenxian said coldly as he forcefully patted my shoulder.
A sharp pain shot through my shoulder, igniting a surge of anger within me. However, I knew I couldn't take on Liu Zhenxian right now, so I had to force myself to endure it. Gritting my teeth, I thought to myself, "A wise man doesn't suffer losses in front of him! In two or three moments, that Buddhist Relic will be refined, and then Liu Zhenxian will know the consequences of crossing me!"
I oriented myself and led Liu Zhenxian toward Lin Hanyu's previous residence. The reason I chose to go there was that Lin Hanyu had not answered my calls. By going to his place, I could buy some time and see if he had returned from the Ghost Realm.
Not far from the cemetery, a group of over ten Taoist Masters dressed in yellow Daoist robes was approaching. Among them, the one with the highest cultivation was an old man at Master Rank, while the others had reached the level of Taoist Master Tablet.
The old man's name was Mu Qiufeng; he was the Master of a Daoist temple located on the outskirts. The people following him were all elite disciples from his temple. Despite Mu Qiufeng's white hair, his eyes were full of vitality, showing no signs of aging.
Holding an ancient wooden compass in his hand, Mu Qiufeng stood still with a furrowed brow, muttering to himself, "The Marking Compass indicates that we are right here; we haven't gone wrong. But just now, the Marking Compass suddenly lost its direction. What on earth happened?"
A sense of foreboding filled Mu Qiufeng's heart. The Ghost Festival marked the time when the Ghost Gate swung wide open for souls to return to the Yang Realm; it was also when Eerie Energy was at its peak throughout the year. Every year during the Ghost Festival, they would use the Marking Compass to locate those Ghostly Beings they had sealed away to ensure none had escaped their confinement.
Due to the nature of sealing spells, the locations where sealed Ghostly Beings appeared varied each year. Mu Qiufeng could only rely on the Marking Compass in his hand and its connection with the marks left inside the bodies of Ghostly Beings to find their positions.
"Could it be that one of those Ghostly Beings has escaped?" Mu Qiufeng shook his head and put away the Marking Compass, murmuring to himself, "That Ghostly Being was barely sealed after I had a shopkeeper from Spirit Ghost Street intervene. If it has managed to escape, then we are in serious trouble."
"No matter what happens, I still need to go ahead and check the situation. If he really managed to escape, then I'll have to ask that shopkeeper from Spirit Ghost Street for help," Mu Qiufeng thought to himself. With a determined mind, he led his disciples forward.
As fate would have it, just when Mu Qiufeng was about to head toward the graveyard, Liu Zhenxian and I happened to emerge from the alley behind him.
Liu Zhenxian looked up at Mu Qiufeng and quickly recognized him. A sinister smile spread across his face as he burst into maniacal laughter. "Haha! My dear master, I finally found you! Where are you off to?"
