I rushed outside the restaurant and saw Hu Yalong and the others lying on the ground, surrounded by a faint green mist. My brows furrowed at the sight, and I quickly ran over to them.
As I entered the mist, I noticed that most of it had already dissipated, leaving only a small amount that was no longer effective against me. I took a deep breath of the remaining mist and was immediately struck by a pungent, fishy odor. As it entered my body, I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me.
I quickly summoned my Daoist Magic to expel the mist from my system, and only then did my consciousness return to normal. I exhaled deeply, my expression softening slightly, and said, "Fortunately, it's just smoke; otherwise, Hu Yalong and the others would be in danger."
I checked their pulses and found their heartbeats to be normal, which relieved me. I took out my phone and called an ambulance for Hu Yalong and the others, then sat beside them.
Looking at their wounds and recalling Li Hongze's Human Skin inside the restaurant, I couldn't help but clench my fists tightly. My voice turned cold as I said, "Ge Bing, you killed my best brother and injured my friends. I won't let you get away with this."
Li Hongze was a studious top student who didn't spend much time with us three, but our bond was strong. We relied on him for homework and whenever we faced academic problems; he was always there to help.
Though Li Hongze was quiet by nature, we all felt his kindness towards us. Even if we didn't hang out often, we understood each other well. Now that Ge Bing had killed Li Hongze, I vowed to hunt him down to the ends of the earth for revenge.
I sat on the ground for about seven or eight minutes when suddenly a chilling wind swept past me, and a figure appeared before me. Looking up, I recognized Liu Zhenxian.
At that moment, Liu Zhenxian looked somewhat disheveled; there was a fist-sized hole in his chest where his heart should be. If he were a living person, he would have been dead by now. Fortunately, as a soul body, he only appeared weakened and would recover after some rest.
Liu Zhenxian tossed the severed head he was holding at my feet. He glanced at Hu Yalong and Lan Yue lying on the ground, frowned, and asked, "Jiang Ling, I've slain that old man; how are things on your end?"
I looked at the head on the ground and confirmed it belonged to that old man from the Ten Thousand Evil Hall. Nodding at Liu Zhenxian, I replied, "Liu Zhenxian, thank you for your hard work this time."
That old man had captured Hu Yalong and the others to steal my Soul Nourishing Stone and had even brought Ge Bing along to deal with me. If it weren't for him, Li Hongze wouldn't have died. Therefore, I had no objections to Liu Zhenxian killing him. Even if Liu Zhenxian hadn't done it, I would have found an opportunity to eliminate him myself.
I calmed my emotions and briefly recounted the events that had occurred in the restaurant. Upon hearing that I was going to hunt down Ge Bing, Liu Zhenxian furrowed his brow and said, "Jiang Ling, take out the Soul Nourishing Stone. Lin Wei Yin is not in the restaurant; she likely went to track down the fleeing Ge Bing."
It was only then that I realized the female ghost from earlier had vanished. I quickly retrieved the Soul Nourishing Stone from my possession and infused it with a trace of Daoist Magic.
Since Lin Wei Yin was my Ghost Servant, her soul imprint remained within the Soul Nourishing Stone, allowing me to sense her general direction through it.
I concentrated on locating Lin Wei Yin's position. After a while, the Soul Nourishing Stone emitted a bright light, and a vague guiding vision flashed through my mind. My expression grew serious as I put away the Soul Nourishing Stone and told Liu Zhenxian, "Lin Wei Yin is straight ahead. I can go after her alone; you stay here to protect Hu Yalong and the others."
Liu Zhenxian was already severely injured and could only exert half of his strength, making his assistance quite limited. Moreover, having just advanced to Master Rank, I was confident I could handle Ge Bing by myself.
Understanding his own condition, Liu Zhenxian nodded readily and said, "Jiang Ling, be careful. If anything goes wrong, notify me immediately."
I nodded in agreement, exchanged a few more words with Liu Zhenxian, then turned and headed toward Lin Wei Yin's location.
Meanwhile, after leaving the restaurant, Ge Bing slipped into an alleyway, twisting and turning in an attempt to completely conceal his whereabouts. If it weren't for Lin Wei Yin following him closely beforehand, he might have truly escaped.
Lin Wei Yin stayed hidden behind him, concealing her presence. Ge Bing was too focused on fleeing to notice her.
After more than an hour, Ge Bing entered an abandoned factory. He glanced around and, seeing no one nearby, jumped into a derelict furnace.
Inside the furnace lay two people; one was already a corpse, bloodied and devoid of skin as if someone had peeled off all of his Human Skin.
The other person appeared to be in much better condition. Although he bore several wounds, he was merely unconscious and not in life-threatening danger. If I were to see this person before me now, I would undoubtedly be shocked into silence because that person was my brother, Li Hongze.
Ge Bing had previously draped himself in Human Skin, having only cut a few pieces of skin from Li Hongze as a ruse. He then refined that flesh into the earlier Human Skin Evil Spirit, simulating Li Hongze's appearance. In truth, he had not actually stripped Li Hongze of his Human Skin.
Creating a Human Skin Evil Spirit required at least seven days, and Ge Bing did not have enough time, which is why he did not turn Li Hongze into one.
However, upon witnessing the failure of this operation, Ge Bing lost interest in refining Li Hongze into a Human Skin Evil Spirit. His primary reason for returning to this place was to eliminate Li Hongze, ensuring that no evidence of his crimes would be discovered.
Standing before Li Hongze, Ge Bing held a sharp blade in his hand and spoke in a grim tone, "Hmph, you worthless fool, I have no use for you now. It's time for you to die."
With that, the blade in Ge Bing's hand sliced toward Li Hongze's throat.
