I took a towel from the room and draped it over Hou Libang, temporarily covering his bare body. As I observed him closely, I noticed that his forehead was darkened, shrouded by a mass of Evil Aura.
Upon seeing that Evil Qi, I discreetly placed my right hand on the Sabre at my waist and glanced around, but there wasn't a single person in sight. Furrowing my brow, I muttered to myself, "Someone must have cast an Evil Spell on Hou Libang just now. But there’s no one else here; what is going on?"
Unable to think of much more, I shook my head and refocused my attention on Hou Libang. If I could wake him up, I would naturally find out what had just happened.
I crouched beside Hou Libang's head and secretly summoned the Daoist Magic within me to my left palm. With swift movements, I cast several Spells while chanting, "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods. Three Pure Ones bless us, sever demons and extinguish spirits. Righteousness sweeps away all Evil Qi. Righteous Qi Dao Seal, command."
As my words fell, I raised my left hand and struck Hou Libang's forehead. A White Dao Light burst forth from my palm, creating a warm breeze that instantly dispersed the Evil Qi hovering above his forehead.
"Hou Libang, wake up! Don’t sleep anymore!" I pinched his philtrum hard and then slapped his face a few times. After a moment, Hou Libang slowly opened his eyes and regained consciousness.
Meanwhile, not far from the hotel, five people were crammed into a narrow dark room in an alley. Among them was Ma Yiwen, the leader of the Horse Head Gang whom I had previously taught a lesson. The woman who had stripped Hou Libang was also present.
The other three were men in their fifties or sixties: Wang Xianglong, a frail addict; Zhu Fangyuan, the most unscrupulous businessman in the county; and Yuan Yong, the head of an underground dark force.
The five of them sat around a table where lay the items that Deng Feifeng had snatched from the hotel.
Deng Feifeng scanned Yuan Yong and the others with her gaze. With her arms crossed over her chest and an irritated tone, she said, "You four leaders brought me here for what? I, Deng Feifeng, haven’t broken any rules; these things were taken from those outsiders. Don’t think you can set any traps for me. Though I have a good temper, I'm not someone you can bully."
Zhu Fangyuan wore a friendly smile as he nodded at Deng Feifeng and spoke up, "Hey there, Feifeng. We didn’t bring you here to cause trouble; we want to discuss something beneficial for everyone. Just relax."
Zhu Fangyuan appeared slightly plump with naturally small eyes that made him look somewhat lecherous when he smiled while speaking.
"Deng Feifeng, do you have any idea who you just messed with? Hmph, I'm not trying to scare you, but you might have gotten yourself into serious trouble this time." Ma Yiwen said coldly as he picked up the Sabre from the table, examining it closely. He then pointed to the bandages wrapped around his body and continued, "This afternoon, my subordinates and I encountered a young man wielding a Sabre like this. He took us all down single-handedly with just one move; we didn't even have a chance to fight back.
After he left, I sent my men to investigate and found out that a group of outsiders came from the direction of Baishan Village last night and are all staying at the hotel right in front of us.
Now that you've provoked them, just think about what might happen if they come looking for you."
Deng Feifeng carefully examined the bandages on Ma Yiwen's body and noticed that the bloodstains were fresh, looking very real. Her brows furrowed as a serious expression crossed her face. She quietly sat on the stool, saying nothing more.
At that moment, Zhu Fangyuan noticed the Sabre in Ma Yiwen's hand, and a greedy glint appeared in his eyes. He rubbed his hands together and said with a grin, "Hey, Ma, let me take a look at that Sabre. It might be something valuable."
Ma Yiwen saw nothing particularly special about the Sabre and casually handed it over to Zhu Fangyuan. In contrast, once Zhu Fangyuan received the Sabre, he held it carefully with both hands, his expression turning serious as he scrutinized it.
After about two minutes, Zhu Fangyuan had nearly assessed the origins of the Sabre. He nudged Wang Xianglong sitting next to him with his elbow and said with a smile, "Wang Xianglong, can I borrow some of your potion?"
Wang Xianglong gave Zhu Fangyuan a weary glance. He pouted and reluctantly pulled out an iron bottle from his pocket, placing it in front of Zhu Fangyuan. With a sigh of resignation, he said, "Zhu Fangyuan, you're always up to something. I'll lend you this potion, but remember to use it sparingly; it's my last bottle."
The bottle Wang Xianglong produced looked quite similar to the one Deng Feifeng had. However, when Zhu Fangyuan removed the stopper from the iron bottle, he found it contained half a bottle of strange liquid emitting a faint fragrance—distinct from what was in Deng Feifeng's iron bottle.
If I were to see what was inside those two bottles, I would recognize that one contained Corpse Oil Solution and the other Corpse Oil Ointment.
Both of these substances are derived from Corpse Oil Lamp. The Corpse Oil Ointment is shaped like incense sticks; when lit near a Living Person without proper precautions taken beforehand, it can cause them to collapse as if possessed by evil spirits like Hou Libang.
On the other hand, Corpse Oil Solution is a refined product obtained from Corpse Oil Lamp. When diluted properly, this pure form of Corpse Oil Lamp becomes a potion consumable by Living Persons but is more akin to a new type of drug.
Zhu Fangyuan held the iron bottle in his hand without a moment's hesitation, pouring all the Corpse Oil Solution inside onto the Sabre.
"Zhu Fangyuan, what are you doing?! Didn't you hear me?! Do you believe I won't take you down right now?!" Wang Xianglong exclaimed, his expression agitated as he stood up and reached out to strike Zhu Fangyuan on the head.
Suddenly, Yuan Yong, who had been silent until now, stood up. He pressed Wang Xianglong back down with a commanding tone, "Wang Xianglong, sit down and pay attention to what's happening. This is not the time for your cravings!"
As Yuan Yong spoke, the Sabre in Zhu Fangyuan's hand emitted a faint white light, instantly evaporating the Corpse Oil Solution on it. At the same time, the talismans that had been hidden on either side of the Sabre became visible.
