I was well aware of the risks involved here, yet I nodded in agreement.
Although the dangers were significant, in a certain sense, this might help me mitigate the damage caused by the excessive use of my Killing Intent from the Three Flowers Gather at the Apex technique.
"I'm about to start... it's not going to feel good!"
"Brother! Don't worry, I'll have Furball help you. I promise you'll be safe!"
"Brother Xia, you can do it! I believe in you!" Furball was already in tears, choking on those words, nearly unable to speak.
Well! All I could do was channel my Eerie Energy once more, forcing a thick mist to envelop my body. I could see that the Eerie Energy coiled around my arm, growing stronger as it spiraled down to my abdomen and then to the soles of my feet. In no time, my face turned crimson; it was evident that I was struggling to breathe under such immense pressure.
"Brother! Forgive me, but I have to do this!" Furball bowed with both paws in the air, flipping over and shouting, "The process of transferring souls is far from comfortable compared to Blade Mountain or Deep-Frying in the Yellow Springs. This is also to minimize your body's pain; we must act quickly to ensure your safety!"
Furball instructed me on some methods.
I steeled myself; after catching my breath, the surrounding Eerie Energy alleviated some of my suffering. I plunged my right hand into the bloodied water and directly pulled Xiao Xiao out of the coffin. It seemed that Xiao Xiao had just suffered a heavy blow; now her eyes were tightly shut, as if she had fallen into a deep sleep. She showed no reaction as I lifted her out, only emitting an overwhelming Blood Smell that dripped continuously, creating a horrifying scene.
With my arm gripping Xiao Xiao's neck, something miraculous happened: we appeared to float in mid-air like feathers. In reality, our toes still touched the ground; it was merely an illusion. My left hand began to form intricate hand seals.
These hand seals were not from any Taoist Sect but rather a unique set of Bai Ze-style gestures that Furball possessed innately. Furball guided me through each one with great mystery. After much effort, I finally managed to perform the seals correctly.
As I executed the gestures, Furball chanted in a language completely incomprehensible to me; it was not from this world. The tones were otherworldly and eerie beyond belief!
This alien-like language sent chills down my spine.
Accompanied by Furball's incantation and my changing hand seals, mysterious patterns gradually emerged on both Xiao Xiao and me. These patterns resembled inscriptions found on ancient bronze vessels from the Shang Dynasty—primitive yet highly abstract. My limited knowledge left me utterly bewildered by their meaning!
The process lasted nearly a minute, during which I gradually felt a surge of energy within me transform from one flow into two. Then I heard Furball shout, "Construct the Heart Bridge!"
Following Furball's instructions, I immediately changed my hand signs to match its incantation.
As the shout echoed, a white light suddenly erupted from both me and Xiao Xiao. This light emanated from our Spirit Caps and connected in midair, forming a hazy "rainbow."
Construct the Heart Bridge?
I had heard of this before, but never expected to witness it today. This was a highly advanced devouring technique from the Underworld. A commander from the Underworld would construct a Heart Bridge with certain Yin People they found displeasing, then consume all of their Eerie Energy through the Heart Bridge, leaving the other party's soul to shatter without the sustenance of Eerie Energy.
Now, a Heart Bridge was established between Xiao Xiao and me, allowing not only her soul but even the subtle energies within her to be transmitted to me!
However, once this Heart Bridge was formed, the two individuals connected could communicate internally. Since they were merging the Wisdom Light from their Spirit Caps, they became linked as soon as the Heart Bridge was established.
Sometimes, this act of constructing a Heart Bridge is a necessary ritual—it essentially provides the two individuals with one last opportunity for mutual conversation in life. If the merging fails after completion, they might never see each other again in life or death.
Just moments after connecting, I saw streams of Blood Mist rising from Xiao Xiao. Before long, it dyed the Wisdom Light connecting us into an eerie crimson.
I felt an overwhelming sense of strangeness, as if countless ants were crawling inside my skin, threatening to tear me apart and make me explode. Suddenly, a wave of intense pain coursed through my entire body, followed by a dizzying sensation that spread from my head down to my feet.
Roar!!
I opened my eyes and let out a loud scream. However, when I looked at my body, I was horrified to see a faint green aura surrounding me. Soon enough, this green hue turned black and began to spread throughout my body and outward. I endured immense pain as my veins bulged; I could feel my eyes widening so much that if there were a mirror present, they would resemble goose eggs.
Even more terrifying was the sensation of tears streaming down my cheeks. When they hit the ground, I clearly saw that the tears were black—this was no ordinary tear; it was black blood!
There were no arteries at the corner of my eye, so there shouldn't be any black blood flowing. However, if black blood did emerge, it clearly indicated poisoning—specifically, it seemed to be Corpse Poison!
Did Corpse Poison also accompany the soul infusion?
I had experienced the effects of Corpse Poison before, and it was far from pleasant!
Not only that, but there was also Eerie Energy!
As the Eerie Energy and Killing Intent surged into my body, a thin layer of dark frost appeared on my skin! The excruciating pain made me scream!
Furball and the bowl wailed along with me!
It turned out that the soul grafting also led to the influx of Dirty Things. These Dirty Things were being rejected through another person's body. In simpler terms, the components belonging to Dirty Things were all present in my body—Corpse Poison, Eerie Energy, Killing Intent—all of it was being forcefully injected into a living person! It was like continuously diluting saltwater by adding more water…
Due to my unique constitution, I could dilute these substances over a considerable period, which was why Furball dared to propose this idea.
The entire grafting process lasted about two minutes, but those two minutes felt like two years to me; it was truly agonizingly long!
As time passed, the transmission from Xiao Xiao became increasingly sparse. When it had almost thinned to the point of invisibility, I finally released my grip on Xiao Xiao with my other hand. I collapsed onto the ground, nearly unable to move!
