The girl in front of him had a kind of fragile cuteness that made one feel pity. 0

That fearful and timid demeanor could soften even the hardest of hearts—so that group of thugs were truly inhuman! 0

Chu Donglin took a deep breath, suppressing the anger he felt towards the group that had tormented Shishi. He bent down and firmly placed a chicken into the girl's hands. 0

He knew that the chicken was incredibly weak and could perish at any moment. But for Chu Donglin, as long as he could ease the girl's fear, it would be worth it even if all the chickens died. 0

"Here, Shishi, when Big Brother goes out later, you can let the chicken keep you company if you're bored." 0

Chu Donglin gently patted the girl's head, offering her comforting words. 0

Shishi looked up, finally confirming that Chu Donglin wouldn’t hurt her, and her trembling body ceased to shake. 0

Looking at the fragile life she held in her hands and listening to its cheerful clucking, the girl remained silent for a long time before shaking her head. 0

"Shishi can't keep it." 0

She gently squatted down and returned the chicken to the box, glancing nervously at Chu Donglin as if afraid he would be angry. "If it's with Shishi, Shishi can't protect it... It will die... It's so pitiful... Hen Mother would be very sad too." 0

The Hen Mother you speak of has long since passed away. 0

Chu Donglin muttered under his breath as he picked up the girl and returned to the sofa. "Then does Shishi like chickens?" 0

The girl instinctively glanced back at the box in the corner with some reluctance. "I like them..." 0

"Then how about we raise these chickens?" 0

The girl's gaze flickered, and she suddenly looked up at Chu Donglin. For the first time, something bright shone in her previously desolate eyes. "Really?" 0

Chu Donglin smiled, ruffling her hair. He laughed heartily and said, "Of course! I brought them back just to raise them." 0

Then, after raising it, he would slaughter it and eat it—Chu Donglin smiled wickedly, though he didn't voice the latter part of his thought. 0

The girl's fondness for chickens gave Chu Donglin a new idea. He glanced at the kitchen, estimated the time, and stood up from the sofa. "Shishi, wait here for me. I'm going out to get you something interesting." 0

With a puzzled look in her eyes, Shishi watched as Chu Donglin pushed open the door and left the room. 0

Sitting on the sofa, she stared at the closed door and then glanced at the chicken in the corner of the room. Her gaze trembled slightly, filled with longing. 0

However, she still dared not move and remained foolishly seated on the sofa. Her eyes were fixed on the corner of the room, listening to the cheerful chirping sounds coming from the cardboard box, lost in a long silence. 0

On the street, Chu Donglin rode his motorcycle through the bustling city. After turning several corners, he stopped in front of a supermarket in the city center. 0

This was the same place he had brought Shishi to once before, but last time he had been scared away by the dense crowd of zombies due to Shishi's presence. This time, coming alone, he found that all those zombies ignored him completely. 0

The girl's love for animals reminded Chu Donglin that he should find her some toys to play with. 0

He had been running around the city hunting zombies almost every day to become stronger. Leaving Shishi alone at home must be lonely for her; he thought he should bring back some toys. 0

That way, when Shishi was home alone in the future, she wouldn't have to sit dumbly on the sofa waiting for him to return. 0

Moreover, this supermarket was somewhat familiar to him; he had a friend who worked there during summer breaks, so he knew there was a section for children's toys on the third floor. 0

However, getting to the third floor was quite troublesome. 0

The supermarket was packed with zombies, nearly filling up the entire lobby space. Although Chu Donglin controlled the surrounding zombies to clear a path, his progress was still frustratingly slow. 0

Pushing through countless zombies ahead of him gave Chu Donglin an illusion of being crammed into a crowded bus. 0

In less than fifty meters of distance, it took him over ten minutes just to reach the escalator leading up to the second floor. 0

Upon reaching this point, there were not many Zombies on the escalator, but scattered around were numerous human bones that had been picked clean. 0

Chu Donglin kicked a skull at his feet and glanced down, noticing that even the scalp had been gnawed away. Only the brain tissue inside the cranial cavity, which had not been completely drained, emitted a foul odor that attracted a few flies buzzing around. 0

Disgusted, he covered his nose and pushed past the dazed Zombies on the escalator, making his way to the second floor. 0

The number of Zombies on the second floor was also quite high. Although it wasn't as terrifying as the lobby on the first floor, it was still densely packed enough to make one uneasy. 0

After finally squeezing through the Zombie Sea, Chu Donglin breathed a sigh of relief when he reached the third floor, where the number of Zombies had sharply decreased. 0

Standing at the elevator entrance and looking around, Chu Donglin headed towards the Children's Toy Display. 0

There, a gigantic Teddy Bear stood almost as tall as a person, drawing attention immediately. 0

Chu Donglin approached it, rummaged through the Cash Register to find a bag, and looted some children's toys from the display. With his right arm wrapped around the giant Teddy Bear and his left hand carrying a bag of toys, he turned to leave. 0

This Supermarket gave him an uncomfortable feeling; ever since he entered the first floor, he had experienced an eerie sensation as if a pair of eyes were watching him from the shadows. 0

Moreover, it struck him as odd that in such a densely populated Zombie den, there were hardly any Mutated Zombies present. 0

The probability of Mutated Zombies appearing was not low. In such a large Supermarket with around two thousand Zombies, how could there be no Mutated Zombies at all? Was that even possible? 0

Thus, he did not linger for long and quickly selected his toys in preparation to leave. 0

When he returned to the second floor, he finally understood why there were no Mutated Zombies in this supermarket—because only one Second Stage Zombie remained here. 0

As he descended from the third floor and stood at the top of the escalator, he saw ahead in the Zombie Sea a pair of Blood-red Eyes fixed intently on him. 0

Its sharp ten fingers bore claws that looked like ghostly talons, smeared with dark red Bloodstains and decaying flesh. 0

Blood-red eyes, filled with the unique cold malice of a Zombie, fixed intently on him. 0

Her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders, obscuring part of her profile. 0

Even as a Zombie, her flawless cheeks retained a certain pale beauty. It was evident that this girl, dressed in a staff uniform, had been quite a stunning beauty in life. 0

Chu Donglin instinctively took a step back, observing the Second-Stage Zombie before him, whose body leaned slightly forward in a predator's stance. He felt the terrifying pressure emanating from her and wore a bitter expression. 0

"Xue..." 0

He murmured the girl's name, and in his ears echoed a sweet voice filled with determination, "Senior! I like you!" 0

In front of him, the Second-Stage Zombie momentarily stiffened, seemingly puzzled by the name Chu Donglin had called out. 0

She paused for a moment but quickly snapped back from that strange confusion. When she looked at Chu Donglin again, all that remained in her gaze was cold malice. 0

Under normal circumstances, High-Level Zombies were not interested in attacking Low-Level Zombies. Why did this girl... this Zombie exhibit such intense hostility towards him? 0

Chu Donglin took a deep breath and drew his gun from his waist, temporarily setting aside his confusion. 0

The dark muzzle of the gun was aimed at the girl before him. Looking at her familiar face, he made one last effort. "Xue, do you remember me?" 0

The girl merely glared at him coldly, letting out a low growl from her throat. In her blood-red eyes, there was nothing familiar to Chu Donglin—only the purest desire for slaughter inherent to Zombies. 0

Feeling a pang of discomfort, Chu Donglin lowered his gaze and suddenly pulled the trigger. "I'm sorry." 0

Bang— 0

With a gunshot, the girl let out a wretched scream and was knocked back several steps—but she only staggered back a few paces. 0

The bullet struck her chest head-on, yet not only was she unharmed, but her body also deflected it like a resilient shield. The impact from Chu Donglin's gunshot caused her some pain, but that was all. 0

In the midst of the intense pain, the girl went into a frenzy. 0

She let out an enraged scream and charged directly at Chu Donglin. 0

In the blink of an eye, she covered the distance of over ten meters. Chu Donglin fired two more shots in quick succession. Both shots were on target but still failed to penetrate the girl’s pale skin; the bullets were deflected away. 0

A whirlwind of fury accompanied by her furious roars rushed toward him, and without hesitation, Chu Donglin turned to flee. 0

He had ultimately underestimated the terror of the Second-Stage Zombie; ordinary low-caliber handguns could no longer harm them. 0

Without more powerful weapons, Chu Donglin could only retreat in disarray when faced with a Second-Stage Zombie… or face certain doom. 0

Suddenly— 0

A sharp claw pierced through Chu Donglin's body from behind, creating a gaping hole in his abdomen, blood gushing forth uncontrollably. 0

At the same time, an overwhelming force descended upon him as the girl tackled him to the ground. 0

“Ughhh!!!” 0

Struggling helplessly, Chu Donglin's body was raked by a pair of claws, leaving countless wounds that quickly turned him into a bloody mess. 0

Several of the wounds were deep enough to expose bone; in mere moments of combat, he had nearly lost all ability to move. 0

Gasping and writhing on the ground, he found himself unable to shake off the girl pressing down on him. It wasn't until he surrendered his final struggle that she finally climbed off him. 0

Then, with a sudden burst of strength, she flipped the severely injured Chu Donglin onto his back. She straddled his waist in an extremely dominating position, her blood-red eyes looking down at him with an air of superiority. 0

“...Snow?” 0

The girl did not kill him directly; instead, she deprived him of all his ability to move through a torturous method, leaving Chu Donglin somewhat confused. 0

Could it be that Snow hasn’t completely lost her memory? Is that why she doesn’t kill me? 0

He stared at her with hopeful eyes, desperately trying to find evidence of any remaining rationality within her. 0

But he was disappointed. 0

In the girl’s Blood-red Eyes, there was only cold ruthlessness. The way she treated Chu Donglin was not because she remembered him, but rather... 0

A flash of blood light flickered in her Blood-red Eyes, and as Chu Donglin locked eyes with her, his mind suddenly felt as if it had been pricked by a needle, an unbearable sharp pain slicing through his head. 0

“Ugh! Ughhh! Ahhhhhh! Aaaaaahhhhhh!” 0

The cries of agony were almost inhuman. Chu Donglin struggled against the madness that consumed him, but the girl held him down firmly, rendering him immobile. 0

Feeling the Mental Seed implanted in his mind, Chu Donglin finally understood what the girl intended to do. 0

This Second-Stage Zombie, this Second-Stage Zombie cloaked in snow, actually wanted to control him completely! 0
