The forceful invasion of Mental Power brought unbearable pain to Chu Donglin.
The Mental Seed that the girl had thrust into his mind, as soon as it entered, extended countless sharp tendrils, mercilessly piercing into the crystalline structure of Chu Donglin's brain, intending to control him.
At that moment, Chu Donglin felt as if he were being torn in half, his head nearly splitting apart.
"Ugh! Ughhh! Ahhhhhh! Aahhhhhhhhhh!"
Madness roared and cried out in agony as Chu Donglin struggled with his severely injured body.
However, under the suppression of a Second-Stage Zombie, all of Chu Donglin's struggles became futile. He could feel that the Mental Seed was rapidly trying to embed itself into his brain's crystal.
The pain hit him like a storm, and he howled in torment, wrestling with Madness. A chill ran down his spine as he sensed a chilling sense of crisis.
As a Zombie, his instincts told him that once the seed was fully planted in his brain's crystal, he would become the puppet of the girl before him, at her mercy!
But he couldn't escape her gaze. Under her suppression, the powerful Mental Power of the Second-Stage Zombie continuously flooded into Chu Donglin's mind, suppressing his own Mental Power in an attempt to control him.
Despair widened his eyes as Chu Donglin helplessly felt the Mental Seed gradually extending its tendrils into his Energy Crystal. He howled in anger and struggled in fear but could do nothing.
Then, when all the tendrils of the Mental Seed fully sank into Chu Donglin's Energy Crystal, as it began to attach itself to the Energy Crystal, Chu Donglin's entire body trembled violently. A scorching and furious power erupted from within him.
"Ughhhhhhh!!!"
He jumped up frantically; under the threat of fear, the survival instinct of the Zombie unleashed a jaw-dropping strength.
The girl riding on him was caught completely off guard, and she was thrown aside by his sudden movement.
Chu Donglin sprang up from the ground, his heart pounding like a war drum in a frenzy. At the same time, his entire body felt as if it had been ignited, burning with intense heat.
The activated survival instinct from the Energy Crystal granted him a burst of power for a short time.
However, looking at the girl he had knocked away, Chu Donglin realized he was no match for her. He had merely caught her off guard; facing a Second-Stage Zombie, he didn't even have the strength to fight back.
Without even having time to retrieve his weapon, Chu Donglin jumped up and ran straight to the staircase leading to the second floor, then leaped down.
The four-meter drop felt almost instantaneous, and the ground rushed up to meet him. He landed right in the midst of the dense Zombie Sea.
Thud—
As he fell onto the solid heads of the Zombies, Chu Donglin felt a jolt throughout his body, and blood began to spurt from his wounds once more.
But the resilience of Zombies was undeniable; as long as their heads weren't crushed, they wouldn't die.
Ignoring the unfortunate ones beneath him whose bones were shattered under his weight and disregarding his own severe injuries, Chu Donglin rolled into the Zombie Sea and struggled toward the entrance of the Supermarket.
All around him were variously shaped Zombie legs. Hidden within this tide of Zombies, Chu Donglin desperately fought for his escape.
He constantly maneuvered around the Zombies' feet to avoid being trampled, dancing on the edge of death. In such a crowded environment, one misstep could turn him into nothing but pulp under their relentless stomping.
Behind him, almost as soon as he hit the ground, a terrifying and furious roar echoed from the staircase—the once gentle girl had transformed into a fearsome and formidable Powerful Zombie.
However, Chu Donglin was now crawling on the ground, hidden from the view of the girl standing on the second floor, as he maneuvered between the legs of the Zombies.
Behind him, the furious roars of Second-Stage Zombies echoed, but Chu Donglin didn’t dare to look back even once. He crawled towards the entrance without pausing.
Almost there... just a little more... hurry... hurry...
As he desperately crawled, he murmured comforting words to himself. Though his body was battered and bruised, the power unleashed by the Energy Crystal still surged within him, granting him strength far beyond his usual capabilities.
Just ahead was the entrance. The moment Chu Donglin dashed towards it, joy had yet to register on his face when a piercing sound sliced through the air beside him.
Thud—
A dull thump followed by a spray of blood.
Chu Donglin let out a scream as a Steel Pipe thrown from the staircase on the second floor pierced through him. Not only did it create a gaping hole in his chest, but he was also propelled several meters away by the force of the throw.
The impact was comparable to that of a firearm!
The slender Steel Pipe continued its path through Chu Donglin's chest, leaving behind a horrifying wound.
Dark red blood gushed out in a frenzy as Chu Donglin stumbled and rolled several meters on the ground. Ignoring his injuries, he sprang back up and ran towards a motorcycle parked by the roadside.
He couldn’t afford to stop; the terror of the Second-Stage Zombies had shattered his previous understanding. Until he became stronger, he had no intention of returning to this Supermarket.
With the roar of the motorcycle engine, Chu Donglin left a bloody trail down the long street as he sped towards Home. Before departing, he took one last glance back at the Supermarket, only to find that the girl had not followed him.
The Zombie at the entrance of the Supermarket stood there, glaring angrily at him, but did not pursue.
Its cautious posture, hiding in the shadows, seemed to suggest it was afraid of the sunlight?
Ha... afraid of sunlight? That was truly ridiculous; Zombies weren't vampires, so how could they fear the sun?
Riding on his motorcycle, with the wind whipping against his face and hair, Chu Donglin, who had narrowly escaped death, even found the mood to make a joke to himself.
But soon, he could no longer laugh.
As he distanced himself from danger, the boiling heat within him began to dissipate rapidly. At the same time, a wave of exhaustion surged from within, leaving him feeling incredibly fatigued.
When he parked his bike at the entrance of his building, he felt as if he had aged decades in an instant, becoming immensely weak; even taking a step felt laborious.
He struggled to climb to the rooftop, but what used to be an easy round trip up the stairs now felt like an endless journey into another dimension.
Finally, when he managed to reach the seventh floor and pushed open the door with great difficulty, he collapsed onto the carpet like a fallen statue, utterly drained of strength—he didn't even have the energy to move a finger.
