The evolution this time lasted for two days. 0

When the morning sunlight of the third day streamed into the bedroom of Silence, illuminating the man lying on the bed like a corpse, Chu Donglin let out a piercing scream and jumped up from the bed. 0

"Damn! Who set me on fire?" 0

He covered his reddened arm and stood in the corner of the room, glaring fiercely at the empty bedroom, seeing nothing at all. 0

Staring at the vacant room, Chu Donglin was dumbfounded. 0

"Huh? No one?" 0

He glanced at the red mark on his arm, a burn that could only be left by fire, and then looked around the empty room, confusion evident in his expression. 0

"Is this... a joke? If there's no one here, then who burned my hand? Could it be that I hurt myself?" 0

Chu Donglin's gaze continued to roam around the room until it finally settled on the sunlight streaming onto the bed. Recalling his previous understanding of Second-Stage Zombies' habits, he swallowed hard, finding it hard to believe. 0

"Could it be that Second-Stage Zombies really can be burned by sunlight, which is why they don't go out in sunny weather?" 0

As he pondered this, Chu Donglin cautiously extended one hand, gradually reaching into the sunlight pouring in through the window. 0

In the next moment, a searing heat scorched his skin. Visibly, his right hand began to redden and darken where it was exposed to the sunlight... 0

He quickly withdrew his right hand and stared at the burn-like marks on it, looking utterly conflicted. 0

So... Zombies can actually be burned by sunlight? This is ridiculous. Are Zombies actually vampires? Moreover, if Zombies can indeed be harmed by sunlight, then what about that mutated White Wolf? 0

Several times when he encountered that fellow, the White Wolf had been leisurely wandering in the sunlight, completely unfazed by it. Could it be that the fellow was unaffected because of its fur? 0

After thinking for a moment, Chu Donglin grabbed a bedsheet and wrapped it around himself before heading toward the area of the room illuminated by sunlight. 0

This time, his body was not burned. Shielded by the sheet, sunlight could not reach him, and he emerged completely unscathed. 0

"Well, it really is because of the skin..." 0

Chu Donglin sighed in exasperation and began testing his body's tolerance to sunlight. 0

After several minutes of experimentation, Chu Donglin confirmed one thing: aside from his head, which was immune to sunburn, the skin on his neck and the rest of his body would burn under the sun. 0

Moreover, as long as any part of his body was exposed to sunlight for too long, the burn marks would gradually spread to other areas. 0

This situation was identical to how he absorbed moonlight. 0

Whenever he absorbed moonlight, it initially started from the skin exposed to the air. Over time, the energy from the moonlight would gradually spread throughout his entire body, reaching a state where he was absorbing moonlight with every part of him. 0

Looking at the multiple burn marks on his body, Chu Donglin felt a sense of silence. 0

"Could it be that Zombies can also absorb solar energy? Perhaps the bodies of Second-Stage Zombies are too fragile to withstand the intense energy of the sun, which is why they get burned? Maybe Zombies need to become stronger to safely absorb solar energy without fearing sunlight?" 0

Chu Donglin's speculation could not be proven; after all, so far, his activities had mostly been confined to these few nearby streets. 0

After dozens of battles with those Zombies, Chu Donglin had long understood that he was not the strongest when facing these bizarre creatures. The Second-Stage Zombies were clearly much more powerful than him, and even those First-Stage Zombies at his level were not mere pushovers. 0

The strange abilities of Mutated Zombies made each battle feel thrilling. If it weren't for relying on his superior intelligence compared to these Zombies, Chu Donglin would have died countless times by now. 0

Even so, he had been severely injured multiple times and had brushed shoulders with death on several occasions. 0

Although the rewards from defeating Zombies were tempting, engaging in such perilous combat was akin to dancing on the edge of a knife; one misstep could lead to annihilation. 0

At first, Chu Donglin was unaware of the dangers in the world of Zombies and dared to roam alone. 0

However, as he learned more and became increasingly familiar with this world, he found himself growing more cautious. 0

Until he became stronger, he dared not venture into completely unfamiliar streets for fear of encountering situations he could not handle. 0

In this situation, where his range of movement was completely restricted, he had not encountered a higher-level Zombie. 0

Perhaps Third-Stage Zombies had already appeared in the city, but he had not seen one with his own eyes, so he could not determine whether Third-Stage Zombies could absorb solar energy. 0

However, a voice in Chu Donglin's mind told him that his judgment was not wrong. 0

Regardless of whether Third-Stage Zombies could absorb solar energy, it was irrelevant to Chu Donglin for now. After confirming his tolerance to sunlight, he was more concerned about his abilities—his newly awakened powers. 0

When he was at the first stage, Chu Donglin had always complained about why he hadn’t awakened a powerful Ability like those Mutated Zombies. 0

This time, it seemed that even the old man had heard his complaints. When he completed his evolution and awakened, he discovered that his body had undergone some strange changes. 0

In addition to the obvious increase in strength and physical fitness, there were noticeable new changes in the Energy Crystal within Chu Donglin's brain. 0

Control... 0

Unlike the mental connection he had with Zombies, when Chu Donglin spread out his Mental Power, he vaguely felt as if he had merged with everything in the room. 0

The wooden bed, the concrete floor, the rebar embedded in the floor, the dust floating in the air... The moment all these objects were enveloped by his Mental Power, an inexplicable feeling arose in his heart—he could control them. 0

And so he did. 0

The closed window suddenly opened out of nowhere and then closed again. 0

The tied-up curtains inexplicably loosened and fell down as if an invisible pair of hands were pulling them together, quickly blocking out the sunlight from outside. 0

Chu Donglin tilted his head and thought for a moment before snapping his fingers. Then, as if pressing a rewind button, the gathered curtains bizarrely parted along their previous trajectory and returned to their original state, tied up once more. 0

Chu Donglin looked at the countless items in this bedroom and slowly closed his eyes. 0

His Mental Power transformed into countless threads that spread to the Flower Board and into the floor, merging with the rebar and cement. 0

As his thoughts trembled, a section of the floor beside him began to shake slightly. 0

Suddenly, a shadow flashed by, and a cold rebar shot up from the ground, standing tall in front of Chu Donglin. 0

Chu Donglin opened his eyes, gazing at his creation, and slowly exhaled a breath of murky air. 0

"I'm so tired..." 0

He shook his head, feeling a bit bitter. 0

Controlling ordinary objects was manageable, but manipulating the rebar to break through concrete and pierce out at such a terrifying speed consumed an immense amount of mental power. While this move could catch an opponent off guard in battle, the energy expenditure was far too great for it to be used as a regular combat technique; it could only serve as a surprise attack. 0

After pondering for a moment, he controlled the rebar to slowly retract back into its original position. 0

This time it was much easier. However, although the rebar had returned, the hole it left in the floor remained unhealed. 0

His ability to control objects was impressive, but it clearly hadn't reached the level where he could alter physical laws; forcing shattered concrete to mend itself was simply impossible... Perhaps one day he could achieve that? 0

But that was a matter for the future. 0

Having given up on studying the rebar, Chu Donglin shifted his focus to other objects in the room. 0

A cabinet weighing dozens of pounds floated into the air before crashing back down; a chair in the corner suddenly soared up, spinning several times in midair before returning to its place; scissors from inside the cabinet whizzed out and embedded themselves into the wall, leaving one hole after another... 0

In the end, Chu Donglin roughly confirmed the limits of his ability. Controlling heavy objects posed little challenge. However, he found himself unable to manipulate lighter items, such as dust particles floating in the air. 0

He couldn't even control his own body; he had initially thought about using this superpower to make himself fly. 0

But when Chu Donglin attempted to cover his body with mental power, he discovered an invisible force repelling his mental power. Although he could exert control, it felt as heavy as a mountain. 0

Chu Donglin was so exhausted that his face turned red and his neck thickened; he couldn't move his body even an inch. 0

Perhaps living beings are different from inanimate objects; they are not so easily controlled. 0

Chu Donglin opened his eyes and casually waved his hand, causing a wooden box on the bedside table to fly over. He opened the box and looked at the more than twenty Energy Crystals lying quietly inside. Chu Donglin shook his head, feeling no instinctual temptation from them anymore. 0

Clearly, these First-Stage Zombie Energy Crystals could not help him continue to evolve, just as First-Stage Zombies could no longer absorb much energy from eating flesh. 0

To confirm, Chu Donglin ultimately consumed one Energy Crystal. He discovered that the energy absorbed by his body was minimal; most of the excess energy lingered within him before gradually dissipating. 0

It seemed that these Energy Crystals could only be used as energy recovery agents in the future, to accelerate healing after injuries... Hmm, in that case, perhaps he could continue to stockpile some? 0

Chu Donglin stroked his chin thoughtfully and placed the wooden box back in its original position. 0

After confirming his limits, Chu Donglin decided to go out and check on Shishi's situation. 0

He had been in a deep slumber for quite some time and had no idea how the girl was doing. Moreover, he had been awake for a while now, yet she hadn't come by, which piqued his curiosity—had she gone up to the rooftop to play? Given her fondness for those chickens, it was quite possible. 0

He rummaged through the wardrobe and changed into a set of clothes he had prepared long ago. Chu Donglin put on a pair of gloves and wrapped a scarf around his neck. 0

Ensuring that all of his skin was thoroughly covered except for his face, he finally pushed open the bedroom door and stepped outside. 0
