The experiment to create the Second-Stage Zombie was progressing smoothly. In the end, Chu Donglin stayed almost overnight by the side of the White Mouse, waiting for the evolution to complete. 0

As Chu Donglin had anticipated, when the Second-Stage Zombie finished evolving, it began to resist his Mental Control. However, Chu Donglin's Mental Seed had long been planted within its Energy Crystal, making its attempts to break free negligible. 0

With little effort, Chu Donglin subdued its resistance and completely controlled the newly born Second-Stage Zombie. 0

Looking at the Second-Stage Zombie bound to the stone pillar and sensing its submission, Chu Donglin slowly exhaled a breath of relief and smiled. 0

He unshackled the Zombie from its chains and restraints, wrapped a scarf around it, and put on gloves, granting this fellow the ability to move in sunlight. Then, Chu Donglin led this fellow away. 0

Chu Donglin was quite satisfied with this Second-Stage Zombie; however, he was somewhat surprised by its physical qualities. 0

Originally, he thought that after his second evolution, his physical attributes would be quite strong. Yet now, compared to this fellow, he felt significantly weaker. It seemed that during his second evolution, most of his energy had been used to enhance his mental abilities, resulting in a lack of physical enhancement. 0

Now, while Chu Donglin's physical attributes were much stronger than those of a First-Stage Zombie, they still lagged behind those of a Second-Stage Zombie. 0

This realization left him both amused and frustrated. It appeared that there were indeed trade-offs; awakening such a powerful Ability came with its downsides. In future battles against Second-Stage Zombies, he would have to rely primarily on ranged combat. 0

With his below-average physical attributes, engaging in close combat with those Zombies who actively enhanced their bodies would be tantamount to seeking death. 0

Carrying these thoughts with him, he began to adjust his strategy. After searching for ropes and chains, Chu Donglin led his subordinate Second-Stage Zombie toward the Supermarket where Xue was located. 0

There was a Second-Stage Zombie inside. Although he knew she was no longer Xue, every time he recalled her familiar face and imagined her living mindlessly among the Zombies, it pained him. 0

In the past, he had been powerless against Second-Stage Zombies and could do nothing even if it hurt him deeply. 0

But now he had completed his second evolution and had also advanced to become a Second-Stage Zombie himself. Coupled with his Ability to manipulate objects, even if he couldn't defeat ordinary Second-Stage Zombies, he could still retreat safely. He could no longer afford to wait. 0

After all, based on his last encounter with Xue, aside from her defense being far superior to that of ordinary Zombies, her strength and speed were not particularly terrifying. 0

Her strength was such that even a frenzied First-Stage Zombie could not withstand it. 0

While it could be attributed to her being caught off guard, it also indicated that the girl’s strength was not very formidable. 0

Perhaps she was following a different path to enhance her physical defenses, after all, being able to withstand gunfire was nothing short of terrifying. Even now, if Chu Donglin were to be shot by a handgun, he would likely be injured. 0

He couldn't imagine just how formidable the defensive capabilities of Xue's seemingly pale and delicate skin truly were. 0

This time he brought along a Second-Stage Zombie. He was confident he could defeat Xue. At that point, he planned to plant a Mental Seed within her Energy Crystal to control her, hoping to find a way to restore her sanity in the future. 0

It was afternoon, and the hall of the Supermarket was still crowded with a Zombie Sea. These sluggish Zombies had not left even after all this time… In fact, their dull intelligence was insufficient for them to even notice the direction of the exit. 0

However, this time, Chu Donglin did not intend to step into this Zombie Sea. With so many Zombies around, he had no idea if any had been transformed by Xue, and the numerous obstacles in battle would also pose a problem. 0

Standing at the entrance of the Supermarket, Chu Donglin directly used his Mental Power to command the group of Zombies to move out in squads. 0

Now, Chu Donglin could control about five hundred Zombies at once; however, the more he controlled, the more vague his commands became. 0

Though he was simultaneously controlling five hundred Zombies, he merely divided them into squads of twenty and commanded each squad to move out one by one. 0

In this way, it was like controlling twenty-five individuals at once—after all, his evolution path wasn't focused on commanding Zombies, and achieving this much was nearly his limit; it was impossible for him to direct each Zombie with precision. 0

Under Chu Donglin's control, over a thousand crowded Zombies in the hall gradually walked out of the Supermarket, spilling onto the street. 0

Looking at the empty sales floor, Chu Donglin took a deep breath and followed closely behind his Second-Stage Zombie as they moved inside. 0

The Second-Stage Zombie carried a large stack of ropes and chains on its back. These items were specifically prepared by Chu Donglin to deal with Xue; after all, he came to subdue her, not to kill her. 0

At his command, the Second-Stage Zombie removed all the ropes and chains from its back and scattered them throughout the hall. 0

As they completed their setup, a slender figure appeared at the escalator on the second floor, coldly staring down at them. 0

Chu Donglin looked up and met the girl's gaze. Seeing her pair of Blood-red Eyes, he smiled bitterly. "Xue, long time no see." 0

"Roar..." 0

The girl let out a low growl, her Blood-red Eyes filled only with a murderous crimson. 0

It was clear that her level of evolution far surpassed that of Chu Donglin and the Second-Stage Zombie he had created. Whether it was her aura or something else, the girl before him exerted a powerful pressure over Chu Donglin. 0

Moreover, unlike the dull eyes of the newly advanced Second-Stage Zombie behind him, the girl's Blood-red Eyes showed traces of intelligence. She clearly remembered Chu Donglin, letting out an angry howl at the Zombie that had escaped her control. 0

Instead of rushing forward immediately, she clumsily drew a pitch-black handgun, aiming its dark muzzle at Chu Donglin below. 0

A cold killing intent locked onto him. The moment he was targeted by that dark barrel, Chu Donglin felt his hair stand on end as a metal plate in front of him suddenly flew up. 0

Bang— 0

Clang— 0

The sounds rang out almost simultaneously; the first was the Gunshot, and the second was the sound of the bullet striking the metal plate and ricocheting off. 0

Chu Donglin stared in disbelief at the Female Zombie at the top of the stairs who had fired the gun. 0

A Zombie can shoot? And isn’t that the gun he had lost last time? 0

Before he could think further, the girl at the stairway continued to pull the trigger, emptying all the bullets from her handgun in mere seconds. 0

Bang bang bang bang bang— 0

Clang clang clang clang clang— 0

The metal plate hovering in front of Chu Donglin trembled violently, several dents appearing on its surface. Fortunately, it had not been penetrated by any bullets. It seemed that while she had learned to shoot, the Zombie's intelligence was still insufficient for her to understand this black metal weapon. 0

After firing all her bullets, she instinctively kept pressing the trigger, but this time no bullets came out. 0

Chu Donglin shook his head, snapping back to reality from his astonishment at a Zombie learning to shoot. He lightly waved his hand, causing the metal plate to drop down and be replaced by several glass bottles flying up from behind the counter. 0

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh— 0

The sound of something slicing through the air echoed as the once-valuable cosmetics flew up to the second floor, crashing heavily against the girl. 0

With a series of explosive sounds, all the glass bottles shattered upon impact with her, yet she remained unscathed. 0

However, this act by Chu Donglin infuriated her. The girl discarded her handgun and leaped down in anger. Her curvaceous body traced an arc through the air as she lunged directly at Chu Donglin. 0

A fierce wind rushed toward him, and the powerful, bloodthirsty aura of the Second-Stage Zombie pressed down on Chu Donglin, making it hard for him to breathe. 0

At this moment, he no longer doubted that the girl before him had indeed progressed further along the path of Zombie evolution than he had. The fury emanating from her was so intense that it even caused the Second-Stage Zombie behind him to tremble and instinctively want to flee. 0

However, under Chu Donglin's command, the Second-Stage Zombie did not run away; instead, it roared and charged at the girl. 0

In a clash of titans, the two Zombies collided mid-air with a heavy impact. In an instant, the Second-Stage Zombie was torn apart by her sharp claws, its head crushed in the process. 0

In mid-air, the girl skillfully scooped up the Energy Crystal from inside the Zombie's shattered skull with her claws. Without missing a beat, she continued her assault toward Chu Donglin. 0

Yet after being obstructed by the Second-Stage Zombie, her speed and momentum plummeted to a standstill. Chu Donglin smiled slightly, not retreating even a single step. 0

Clang— 0

With a deafening sound of metal chains scraping against each other, the chains on the floor suddenly shot up and wrapped around the girl's body. Other ropes joined in as well, quickly binding her like a tightly wrapped dumpling. 0

“Roar!” 0

In mid-air, she let out an angry howl, struggling madly to break free from her restraints. But with no leverage to push against in mid-air, she could only be firmly held captive despite her fury and unwillingness. 0

Clang— 0

The metal chains did not cease their movement; all at once they flew up and wrapped around several stone pillars in the hall. With a powerful tug, they tightened into a web-like formation throughout the space. 0

In the midst of that web, the girl trapped in mid-air struggled angrily, but could not break free from the layers of restraints. 0

"Give up, Xue. I'm here to take you home." 0

Chu Donglin snapped his fingers, and the countless ropes and chains binding her to the stone pillars began to knot themselves automatically, as if an invisible pair of hands were at work. 0

At this point, he had already determined the evolution direction of the girl before him. 0

Based on her fierce attacks and speed, she was likely a speed-type Zombie. As for her defense, which could withstand bullets, it seemed to be an Ability rather than a result of her physical strength. 0

As the girl continued to struggle desperately and time gradually passed, her skin, originally a grayish-white like plaster, began to transform, eventually becoming the pale, bloodless hue characteristic of Zombies. 0

Her struggles lasted only half an hour before she finally stopped. 0

It was evident that maintaining that Ability was exceptionally draining. Compared to how she had started, although she still exuded a fierce Fury, she appeared much weaker now. 0

Chu Donglin waited another half hour until he confirmed that the girl had truly exhausted herself. Only then did he step forward and look up at her familiar face. 0

His current physical condition was far below the passing mark for a Second-Stage Zombie. Therefore, unless he was absolutely certain of success, he did not intend to get too close to these Second-Stage Zombies that focused on physical enhancement. 0
