Wocheng's North District was a newly developed area, filled with tall buildings that stood in stark contrast to the sparse population. Before the apocalypse, the place had been nearly deserted, with hardly any signs of life. 0

Now, in this post-apocalyptic world, even zombies were a rare sight on the streets. 0

As they walked along, the only things that broke the silence of the empty streets were the towering buildings that loomed like silent corpses on either side. 0

Chu Donglin walked alongside Liu Xiner, his expression calm and indifferent. He occasionally engaged in light banter with a suit-clad youth who attempted to flirt with Liu Xiner, maintaining a demeanor that was neither cold nor overly warm. 0

The suit-clad youth had noticeably changed his attitude towards Liu Xiner. It seemed that Chu Donglin's warning had indeed made an impact; he did not draw closer to her and even maintained a respectful distance. 0

The young man's eloquence, combined with a touch of carefree humor, easily left a good impression on others. Coupled with his striking appearance, he could easily be seen as the perfect prince charming in every girl's heart. 0

For an average man, facing this fellow's hidden threat would be quite daunting. However, Chu Donglin merely responded to him with casual amusement, as if he were observing something interesting. 0

This youth was Li Zheng, a senior from Liu Xiner's high school days. He had gone off to attend university in another city and rarely returned to Wocheng. 0

Little did he expect that upon his return, he would encounter the outbreak of the Apocalyptic Crisis and find himself trapped in a sea of zombies. 0

However, Li Zheng was clearly no mere pretty face. When the Apocalyptic Crisis erupted, he quickly assessed the dangerous situation and managed to escape from the zombie-infested City Center District just in time. He then established his own survivor camp nearby. 0

Due to the North District's low population and few zombies, control of this area had almost entirely fallen into Li Zheng's hands. 0

He was constantly gathering Survivors, collecting food and water, and soon developed the camp into a thriving community. 0

According to Li Zheng himself, there were over five hundred Survivors in his camp, not counting the elderly and children. 0

No matter how one looked at it, this number was truly remarkable. 0

Even in the North District, where Zombies were scarce, maintaining a camp of such size without facing the threat of Zombies was a feat that not just anyone could achieve. 0

It was no wonder that despite his young age, the Survivors around Li Zheng held him in such high regard. 0

"Senior Li Zheng, you’re amazing," Liu Xiner exclaimed after hearing his story. "There are only about two hundred people in my camp, and Sister Qingya is already struggling. I can’t believe you’re leading a camp of over five hundred… that’s incredible." 0

Li Zheng chuckled lightly. However, instead of feeling happy about the praise, he felt a bit downcast. 0

It seemed he noticed that the girl’s attention was not on him at all; instead, she was nestled against Chu Donglin's arm, looking adorable and obedient. Her compliment was merely a habitual courtesy. 0

Li Zheng's Survivor camp wasn't far away. After walking for more than ten minutes, they soon arrived at a seemingly closed-off area entrance. 0

The area wasn’t particularly luxurious, but there were no buildings nearby, which spared them the trouble of High-Level Zombies using adjacent high-rises as launching pads for aerial attacks. 0

However, Li Zheng and his companions, who were cautiously exploring the outskirts of the city, clearly did not realize that when facing true High-Level Zombies, the three-meter-high walls of this area would be of little use. 0

The main gate of the area was sealed shut, so they entered through an empty tavern next door. 0

From this relatively quiet bar, Li Zheng and his group broke through the wall at the back of the room and could enter the area from there. 0

A few people were standing guard at the entrance, armed only with sharp machetes, and one of them was even carrying just two iron rods. 0

When they saw Li Zheng and the others return, the sentinels greeted them. 0

They were somewhat surprised by the unfamiliar faces of Chu Donglin and Liu Xiner in the group. 0

"Mr. Li, are these two new companions?" 0

As they spoke, their gazes toward Liu Xiner were oddly intense, with one man's mouth almost watering. 0

That kind of attitude seemed overly enthusiastic, no matter how one looked at it. 0

Li Zheng instinctively glanced back at Chu Donglin, only to find him looking at him with a half-smile, causing Li Zheng to awkwardly shift his gaze away. 0

"These two are... uh... friends passing by. They came here to replenish some food and will be leaving shortly." 0

With that, he strode away with Chu Donglin and Liu Xiner, seemingly eager to leave the area. "You all keep a good watch at the entrance. If any High-Level Zombies approach, seal off the entrance immediately." 0

After they had walked more than ten meters away, Chu Donglin finally asked with a smirk, "Mr. Li Zheng, don't you like those people?" 0

Li Zheng paused for a moment, puzzled. "Why do you ask that?" 0

"It just seems like you were in a hurry to leave them... What? Don't you want to see them again?" 0

With that teasing gaze from Chu Donglin, Li Zheng smiled and explained, "You misunderstood. I was just eager to take you both to the warehouse for food. Aren't you in a hurry to hit the road? I wouldn't want to delay your time just because I'm chatting with my subordinates." 0

Chu Donglin nodded noncommittally and glanced around at the surroundings before casually asking. 0

"Mr. Li Zheng, is it really okay for you to casually give us such precious food and water? We don't have anything valuable to exchange with you." 0

"Hehe... If it's just the two of you, then it's no problem," Li Zheng said with a kind smile. "Xing'er was a girl I liked in the past, and I hope she can live a little better. Although I can no longer give her anything, at least I can help her within my means." 0

After a pause, Li Zheng continued with a smile, "Of course, the most important reason is that you two can't carry much food anyway. I'll provide you with enough supplies for a while, and then you can cross the North District to find new food. As for a mere two portions of food, I still have the privilege to allocate that." 0

Chu Donglin looked at Li Zheng's friendly smile, his gaze sweeping over the Survivors who had followed them before returning to Li Zheng's face. 0

"So under normal circumstances, how is food distributed in your camp? Those who go out to face danger should have priority in food selection, right?" 0

"Naturally. The rescue team is the backbone of our camp; they must face the threat of Zombies at the front lines and could die at any moment, so their treatment must be the best. Aside from them, all ordinary members are treated equally—whether they are elderly, children, or women, they enjoy the same treatment as young men." 0

Li Zheng's response made Chu Donglin chuckle playfully. "Very fair indeed... Mr. Li Zheng." 0

He rubbed his brow, his hand concealing his cold gaze. "I admire you; let's have a drink together when you have time." 0
