As Chu Donglin walked out of the Resort with the two girls, the fading glow of the sunset was already visible.
Stepping onto the vibrant red horizon, he held the hands of two identical girls, with a majestic White Wolf following closely behind him, taking one step at a time away from Liushan Shu's Resort.
Behind them, the setting sun cast long shadows of the three figures and one wolf.
"Big Brother, where are you taking us?"
The sweet voices of the two girls echoed from behind.
"Yeah, Big Brother, where are you taking Keara? You’re not a human trafficker trying to sell Keara and her sister, are you?"
In response to their innocent inquiries, Chu Donglin turned to glance at them and smiled.
"You two little ghosts, is there anyone in this world who could possibly take you away? If you don’t abduct others, they’d be grateful just to avoid you."
The two girls immediately frowned and shouted in unison.
"Ling'er isn’t a human trafficker!" / "Keara isn’t a human trafficker!"
"Haha... A human trafficker wouldn’t have your fierce combat skills. By the way, where did you two meet me before?"
At this point, they had already distanced themselves from Liushan Shu's Resort and arrived at a secluded intersection.
Here, not far away, they could see abandoned traffic lights, the buildings of the Bay Area, and the nearby East Lake.
Even before the apocalypse arrived, this place was desolate with few pedestrians; now that the end had come, it was even more deserted.
While chatting with the two girls, Chu Donglin gave a light pat on the head of his White Wolf beside him, commanding it to enlarge its size.
The White Wolf, which was originally the size of an ordinary wolfdog, shook its tail on the street. Its body quickly expanded like rising clay, eventually transforming into the size of a family sedan.
Chu Donglin stood before this White Wolf, now resembling a fantastical monster, and looked back at the two Girls behind him, asking, "You must have known me before, right? Otherwise, how would you know my name?"
On the street, the two Girls exchanged glances and simultaneously clutched their chests, screaming.
"Ah~~~~~~~ Help! There's a perverted loli lover trying to assault us, help!"
"So scary! Uncle, please don’t come any closer… I beg you… Keara really can’t take it!"
Unfortunately, the acting of these two Girls was quite impressive. If anyone happened to pass by and saw their tearful, pitiful expressions, they might genuinely think that Chu Donglin was some kind of perverted fish man rushing to their aid.
However, the empty street was devoid of anyone except for Chu Donglin and the towering White Wolf, which coldly observed them, rendering the two Girls' performance utterly ineffective.
Watching the two Girls enthusiastically continue their act without any intention of answering his question directly, Chu Donglin shook his head and turned to leave.
"Forget it. We can meet again next time."
With that, Chu Donglin walked toward the White Wolf.
But just as he took a step, he felt two hands gripping the hem of his clothing.
Turning around, he saw that the two girls who had been screaming just moments ago were now kneeling side by side behind him, looking pitifully at him like abandoned twins.
“Daddy… please don’t go… Ling’er misses you so much.”
“Daddy… wuwuwu… Daddy… don’t leave, Keara is so scared. If you go… wuwuwu…”
The two Girls cried and sobbed as if they were genuinely terrified and heartbroken.
Watching the two girls cry their hearts out, Chu Donglin shook his head in frustration.
"Stop playing games with me. Are you going to tell me the truth or not? If not, I'm really leaving."
The two girls cried even louder.
"Woo woo woo… Daddy… Daddy… don’t go…”
"Woo woo woo… Daddy, Mommy doesn’t want us anymore. If you don’t want us either, Keara and I will be the unwanted girls, and no one will like us anymore… Woo woo woo… Daddy, please, don’t go."
"Daddy… Daddy!"
"Woo woo woo… Daddy… don’t go…”
The two girls were sobbing uncontrollably, and Chu Donglin felt a surge of anger.
"Are you showing off your acting skills? Let go of me! Stop pulling at me, or I swear I’ll hit someone."
"Woo woo woo… Daddy… please don’t be angry. Ling’er won’t do it again; I promise… Woo woo woo…”
"Daddy, please don’t go. Take Keara and me with you. We really miss you… Woo woo woo…”
Standing there, looking at the two girls who were crying so heartbreakingly, Chu Donglin took a deep breath and kicked each of them aside.
"Is this ever going to end? If you don’t want to talk, then fine. We’re breaking up. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance; it’s your own fault for not being honest. Don’t blame me."
With that, Chu Donglin ignored the two girls who were now on the ground crying like rain-soaked flowers and jumped onto the back of White Wolf to leave.
Seeing Chu Donglin leave without hesitation, the two girls immediately stopped crying and sprang up from the ground, pointing at his disappearing figure and shouting like two wives abandoned by their husbands.
"Leave! If you have the ability, just go! Once you leave, never come back!"
"Chu! You heartless bastard! Get lost! Never let me see you again! Just get out of here!"
Then, the White Wolf accelerated and vanished around the corner of the street like a whirlwind, truly never to return.
At the desolate intersection, two girls stared at each other wide-eyed for a moment before suddenly blaming one another.
"Sister, you're such an idiot! Look, you made Big Brother leave. You're more trouble than you're worth. He liked me a lot before; it's all your fault that you scared him away. You owe me Big Brother!"
"Pfft! What do you mean Big Brother liked you? Clearly, he liked me more. He left because of you! It's your fault for not listening to him. You deserve this, and now I have to suffer with you. Keara, you're such a big fool! A huge fool!"
"Ling'er is the fool! Big Brother left because of you!"
"Keara is the fool!"
"Ling'er is the fool!"
"Keara is the fool!"
"Ling'er is the fool!"
"Ling'er is the fool!"
"Yes, Ling'er is a fool... Hehe... Sister, are you finally admitting that you're a fool now?"
The girl named Ling'er had originally planned to use this opportunity to trick her sister once more, but Keara was not fooled and ended up tricking herself instead. Ling'er couldn't help but let out a cry of despair.
"Wah... Really... Keara is such a fool! Why aren't you playing along? You should have been saying 'Keara is a fool' at a time like this!"
Keara looked at her sister with a smug expression. Her clever little nose huffed in disdain.
"You're such an idiot, Sister. You actually believe the plots in that animated series? You're just a big kid who never grows up. I stopped believing in those silly storylines after I turned eight."
Feeling mocked by her younger sister, Ling'er blushed with embarrassment and shouted back, "I stopped believing in those stories after I turned seven! That's a whole year earlier than you!"
"Idiot Ling'er, you're lying! Blushing face!"
Keara acted like a triumphant little devil, almost as if she had a tail wagging behind her. "You were still wanting to go to Narnia when you were eight. You really thought Narnia was real."
Ling'er glared at her sister in anger and raised her fist, exclaiming, "Narnia is real! I will definitely find a way there! Just wait and see; I won't take you with me when I do! Keara, you big idiot!"
"Hee hee hee... Sister, you're really adorable for thinking Narnia exists. You've truly reached peak idiocy."
Keara crossed her arms and let out a condescending laugh, mocking her sister. "Some people are big-chested but brainless; you, on the other hand, are flat-chested and not very smart either... How pitiful. No wonder Big Brother left you. If I were Big Brother, I wouldn't want to be around such an idiot for long; stupidity is contagious."
Suddenly—
With a crackling sound of electricity, several white sparks danced between Ling'er's hair.
Her face flushed with anger as she lunged forward.
"Ahhhhhh! Keara, you idiot! You're the real idiot! Your whole family are idiots!"
Without a sound, the girl named Keara vanished from her spot and reappeared atop a streetlight several dozen meters away.
Standing on the lamp post, Keara hugged her shoulders and looked down at her furious sister with a grin, continuing to mock her.
"Look, look, sister is indeed a fool. Isn't it true that I'm the only one left in our family? If both of us are fools, doesn't that mean we admit to being fools? Hehe... Sister is really hopelessly foolish... Hehe..."
Amidst the girl's mocking laughter, Ling Er covered her head and began to scream.
"You idiot Keara, you've made me angry!"
With that, she pulled out a coin from her pocket and raised her right hand to flick the metal coin into the air. With a thunderous crack, the metal coin transformed into a flash of light that pierced through the black streetlamp pole.
Boom—
With a loud bang, the metal streetlamp pole was split in two. However, the girl named Keara had already teleported to another lamp post, laughing triumphantly.
"Sister, this electromagnetic cannon you learned from someone else—did you really think you could use it against me? That's just too funny! Even if you use electromagnetic induction to shoot the coin at supersonic speed, do you really think you can hit me? My teleportation is the real deal!"
Thus, amidst the continuous booming sounds echoing through the desolate street, mixed with the angry shouts of a certain girl gradually fading away, it finally disappeared completely.
All that remained were the collapsed black lamp posts, as if severed by a laser, with charred remnants at the ends. (To be continued...)
