At the entrance of the alley, Chu Donglin, who had originally left, returned at some point, standing there with a smile as he looked at the two girls who were sulking. 0

"Do you really not want me to go?" 0

The two Girls nodded repeatedly. 0

"Yes, yes, we don't want you to go." 0

"Why don't you want me to go?" 0

"Because you're Big Brother." 0

"So?" 0

"Ling'er really likes you." 0

"Keara... Keara also likes Big Brother." 0

"Hehe... Well, since you both like me so much, can you tell me where we've met before? I feel like we've definitely met before, but I just can't remember right now." 0

As Chu Donglin asked, the two Girls exchanged glances and simultaneously extended their hands. 0

"We want a hug." 0

Chu Donglin shook his head in refusal. 0

After being turned down, the two Girls didn't get discouraged and continued to open their arms for a hug. "If you don't hug us, we won't." 0

Chu Donglin laughed. "Still trying that trick? This time I'm prepared. Do you think you can stab me like last time? Besides, if it weren't for that monster under Li River suddenly scaring me and making me lose my ability to resist for a moment, do you really think you could have hurt me?" 0

The two girls frowned and huffed. "If it weren't for Big Brother kicking us away first and breaking our hearts, we wouldn't have done that. If you do something wrong, you have to be punished. Who told you to hurt us first?" 0

"So you're saying this time you won't stab me?" 0

"Yes, yes, it won't happen again this time." 0

"But what if I can't trust you? If you stab me in the back again, wouldn't I be at a huge loss?" 0

Amidst Chu Donglin's teasing tone, the two Girls furrowed their brows and thought for a moment. Ling'er suddenly said, "Well... you could search us. That way, Big Brother, you'll know we aren't carrying any knives." 0

Chu Donglin chuckled and shook his head. "It's not just knives; I also need to temporarily confiscate any coins you have on you. Who knows if you might suddenly attack me?" 0

Pointing to the two miserable Zombies in the alley, Chu Donglin shrugged. "I don't want to end up like those two unfortunate souls... So, what do you say? Is it alright? I need to take away everything that poses a threat to me." 0

Despite the unreasonable request, the two Girls readily agreed. 0

"Alright. Big Brother, you can come over and search us yourself." 0

Then Chu Donglin, without any shame, walked over with a smile. "Then I'll start searching... You both better raise your hands." 0

The two girls obediently raised their hands, their bodies completely defenseless in front of Chu Donglin. 0

He crouched down and really began to explore the tender bodies of the two girls. 0

Arms, waists, backs, shoulders—he even checked their chests and beneath the Hem of the Dress. Aside from their underwear, Chu Donglin searched every possible hiding place on Ling'er and Keara. 0

The spoils he found in his hands amounted to only a few coins; there were truly no weapons or tools. 0

This result surprised Chu Donglin a bit. 0

"Really no knives?" 0

The two Girls blushed as they looked at Chu Donglin, somewhat dissatisfied as they retorted, "You've touched us and seen everything. Are you satisfied now?" 0

Keara frowned and added, "Now that we've been thoroughly searched by you, we won't be able to marry anymore. No one will want us now..." 0

Chu Donglin looked at the two Little Ghosts with amusement and asked, "So how should I compensate you?" 0

The two girls exchanged glances and shouted in unison, "We want you to marry us, Big Brother!" 0

"Both of you together?" 0

"Yes, both of us together." 0

"But that doesn't make sense... How can someone marry two wives at the same time? Besides, I already have a wife. Even for her sake, I can't agree to this." 0

"I don't care, I don't care! You've touched us and looked at us; you must take responsibility." 0

"Exactly! Big Brother, you have to take responsibility." 0

Amidst the girls' commotion, Chu Donglin continued to smile and tease them. "But I really love my wife. I can't leave her; I want to be with her for a lifetime... You wouldn't want me to break my promise and become an untrustworthy person, would you?" 0

Ling'er frowned and looked at Chu Donglin, shouting, "Then let's go kill your wife! That way, you won't break your promise." 0

The other girl chimed in, "Yes, yes! As long as we kill her, then Big Brother won't be breaking his promise... Let's do it! Big Brother, can we go kill your wife?" 0

"No." 0

Chu Donglin's firm refusal prompted the two girls to puff out their cheeks and protest. 0

"Anyway, Big Brother, you have to take responsibility. You can't just pull up your pants and forget about it." 0

"That's right! Big Brother, you must take responsibility. Keara can't get married now; you can't just ignore us." 0

As the two girls clamored on, Chu Donglin laughed heartily. 0

"Who says I have to take responsibility? Don't you know there are scoundrels in this world? Someone who turns their back and denies everything—that's me." 0

The two girls exchanged glances and each tightened their grip on Chu Donglin's arm. 0

"Anyway, we won't let you escape." 0

"What about my wife?" 0

"Hmph! Big Brother, your wife is that Liu Xiner, right? To be honest, she’s probably long gone. How could she still be alive? Even without us getting involved, she’s as good as dead. You should stop thinking about her and just stay with us." 0

Amidst the shouting of the two girls, Chu Donglin was stunned. 0

"What do you mean? Xing'er has been talking to Sister Qingya, hasn’t she? How could anything happen?" 0

The two girls made a face at Chu Donglin. 0

"Big Brother, you're really clueless. After all this time, don’t you find it strange? You often come to the camp to ask Sister Qingya about your wife's situation, but why has your wife never wanted to talk to you? She only communicates through Sister Qingya. For such a long time, don’t you find that odd?" 0

"Exactly! Big Brother, aren’t you supposed to be smart? How could you not notice something so simple?" 0

Chu Donglin paused for a moment. He hadn’t thought deeply about it before, but now that the two girls pointed it out, he realized something was indeed off. 0

He looked at the two girls in front of him and asked, "What exactly happened? Why is Xing'er in danger? What do you know?" 0

The two girls exchanged glances. 0

"Sister, should we really tell Big Brother?" 0

Keara glanced at Chu Donglin and thought for a moment before saying, "Well, it’s been so long; that woman is definitely dead. Even if Big Brother goes back to look for her, he’ll only find a corpse. It won’t hurt to tell him; I just don’t believe a corpse can compete with us for Big Brother." 0

Then Ling'er turned to Chu Donglin and said, "So I’ll go ahead." 0

"Yes, please do." 0

"The thing is like this..." 0

The modified military Humvee came to a stop in front of the entrance of the Resort. As they stared at the closed gates, the first man to step out of the vehicle looked somewhat puzzled. 0

"Is this really the Resort those people were talking about? The Survivor camp with over a thousand residents? How come there's not a single soul in sight at the entrance?" 0

He turned to his companion, Wu, who had just opened the door and stepped out. 0

"Captain, did we take a wrong turn?" 0

Wu lifted his gaze to the large sign above the Resort's gates, furrowing his brow. 0

"This is definitely the right place. This was indeed the Liu Family's Resort before the apocalypse. According to those Survivors, Liushan Shu established the largest Survivor camp nearby." 0

"But how can there be no one at the entrance? A camp with over a thousand people—Liushan Shu can't be foolish enough not to post a few guards, right? Or have they already relocated?" 0

Wu pondered for a moment before shaking his head to dismiss that possibility. 0

"This is the only place around here suitable for large-scale human habitation. Beyond this lies true wasteland, completely uninhabitable. With over a thousand people, relocating wouldn't be that easy. Just up and leave?" 0

After thinking it over, Wu ultimately gestured for the man to knock on the door. 0

"Regardless, we need to knock. We must meet Liushan Shu this time. We need to secure this camp; having over a thousand Survivors could significantly bolster our Ark Base. We can't give up halfway." 0

With Wu's command, the man shrugged and obediently approached the door to knock. 0

As his large hand struck against the gate, it creaked open by itself. 0

The man stared in astonishment at the open gate, then turned back to his companions with an innocent expression, raising his hands in surrender. 0

"I swear I didn't open it." 0

Wu shook his head and, gun in hand, stepped forward. 0

"Let's go in and take a look." 0

Then a group of fully armed Survivors filed inside. 0

What lay before them was a completely desolate city, within a vast mansion that showed no signs of any living soul. 0

The rooms where the Survivors once lived had their beds neatly made, not at all resembling a place that had been hastily abandoned due to some disaster. 0

In several of the houses, water was still boiling on the stove. 0

However, it seemed that too much time had passed; the firewood underneath had burned out, and the water inside had long since cooled. As for those who should have used this water, they had vanished without a trace. 0

The mansion was impeccably clean, not even a cockroach could be seen. 0

Eventually, the group returned to the square one by one, reporting their findings to their leader, Wubing. 0

"No one in the east." 0

"No one in the west either." 0

"No one by the pond." 0

"There's nobody at all... Captain, where did all these people go? The Home is also neatly arranged; it doesn't look like anything happened. It's impossible for so many people to just disappear into thin air!" 0

Amidst the murmurs of confusion, Wubing furrowed his brow tightly. 0

He looked at his companions while deep in thought. 0

Suddenly, a look of shock crossed his face. 0

"Where's Datang? Why isn't Datang here?" 0

The group began to whisper among themselves, realizing that indeed one person was missing from their ranks, and they were all taken aback. 0

"Yeah, where's Datang? Where did that fellow go?" 0

"Old Liu, didn't Datang walk off with you? Didn't you see him?" 0

"Pah! Don't blame everything on me, alright? That fellow Datang clearly went towards the orchard; I wasn't even going in the same direction as him." 0

"Then who was walking with Datang?" 0

As the group exchanged glances, a heart-wrenching scream suddenly echoed from deep within the villa. 0

"Ughhhhhhh!" 0

The prolonged wail sounded as if the person was enduring unimaginable pain, suffering through torment akin to hell itself. 0

That soul-piercing scream seemed to carry a chilling aura, making the already cold winter day feel even colder. 0

The cold wind blew through, causing a few withered maple leaves to fall, drifting down beside the group. 0

The yellowed veins on the leaves resembled grotesque ghostly faces, grinning eerily at the intruders. (To be continued...) 0
