Two corpses...
As he stepped into the Lotus Garden, two lifeless bodies came into view.
The two bodies lay at the entrance of the Lotus Garden.
Like the other corpses he had encountered, their original state of death was long obscured, with only the marks left by monstrous teeth gnawing at them remaining.
Their limbs were mangled, and their faces bore expressions twisted in sheer terror.
The remnants of their torsos had a massive gaping hole in the abdomen, revealing empty cavities where their innards had been devoured by some unknown evil.
The only difference from what Chu Donglin had previously discovered was that there were only two bodies here.
Earlier, he had found corpses clustered together in groups of three, but the newly appeared bodies were just two, which seemed to deviate from the earlier pattern.
Chu Donglin did not examine these two corpses closely, as his attention was drawn to the third body that should have been present.
Between the two corpses, a long trail of blood smeared across the floor of the Lotus Garden, winding deeper into its interior. It appeared as if a severely injured person, covered in blood, had crawled through here, leaving behind this bloody mark on the ground.
The further he ventured inside, the lighter Chu Donglin's footsteps became, and his brow furrowed tighter.
The pain that had finally eased in his forehead began to intensify again as he approached the depths of the Lotus Garden.
This sensation was more intense than ever before, as if some terrifying creature awaited him ahead, or perhaps the source of his excruciating headache lay just beyond.
He rubbed his forehead, his brows knitted tightly. Behind him lingered countless sharp objects floating ominously in the air.
As he walked through the mansion, the places he passed became increasingly numerous. Behind him, the sharp, suspended objects multiplied, reaching a density akin to a curtain of rain.
With just a thought from Chu Donglin, these countless sharp objects would transform into an unstoppable downpour, tearing apart any enemies in front of him.
Walking along the path of Lotus Garden Silence with a cold expression, the words of the two girls echoed in Chu Donglin's ears.
"On the West Bank of the Li River, there’s a terrifying legend."
"It is said that within the nearby cities hides a strange female ghost. She lurks among the people, always emitting eerie giggles and a chilling aura as she entangles herself with the living."
"Any Survivor camp that becomes entangled with this ghost does not last long; soon, everyone will be dead, and outsiders cannot see the bodies inside."
"Moreover, once those who have been consumed by the ghost leave their Survivor camps empty, no one can enter them."
"Anyone who steps into those Survivor camps, where everyone has been devoured by the ghost, will be possessed by her lurking in the corners, bringing misfortune and the ghost back to their own camp."
"Those camps are cursed."
"Previously, two groups of unfortunate souls who did not believe in such things entered those cursed camps to plunder food and supplies but ended up possessed by the ghost and returned to their own camps to cause everyone's demise."
"There are six such empty camps in the city. Although everyone knows there must be stored supplies and food inside, which is tempting, after what happened, no one dares to step into those camps anymore."
"However, that Liushan Shu is a fool. When we visited his camp before, we heard about how he got injured."
"He wasn't hurt by a Zombie; he was injured after entering an ominous Cursed Camp."
"No one knows exactly how he got injured; only those who entered the Cursed Camp with him would know, but they refuse to speak."
"The last time you sent Liu Sister Xin'er to his Resort, it was just after he returned from the Cursed Camp."
"Typically, after he steps into the Cursed Camp, it won't be long before his Resort is targeted by the female ghost, and everyone there will end up dead."
"So much time has passed already; your Liu Xin'er is long gone!"
Footsteps paused around the corner.
Chu Donglin furrowed his brow tightly, the sharp pain in his forehead reaching its limit.
The light had dimmed, and the air around him had strangely turned cold, as if he were trapped in ice and snow, sending chills throughout his body.
Chu Donglin heard a sound...
"Hee hee hee hee... hee hee hee hee..."
The eerie and enchanting laughter echoed from around the corner.
At first, it seemed distant, but gradually it drew closer.
As that laughter approached, the air around Chu Donglin grew colder, and the pain in his forehead intensified.
Finally, that strange and enchanting female laughter stopped just behind the corner, separated from Chu Donglin by a mere wall, seemingly within reach.
The enchanting laughter seemed to belong to a breathtakingly beautiful diva, softly giggling and filling the air with a tingling sensation.
Yet, in this eerie and ghostly mansion, it only sent chills down one's spine, causing an uncontrollable shiver throughout the body.
Chu Donglin's body went rigid.
It wasn't fear; rather, a strange, cold aura seeped into his very bones, blurring his vision.
In that moment, not only did his forehead throb painfully, but even the Evolution Crystal of the Zombie within his brain began to tremble with madness.
The shaking crystal collided with other parts of his brain, sending waves of excruciating pain coursing through him. However, Chu Donglin's blurred vision gradually began to clear.
As his sight returned to normal, he rubbed his forehead, feeling as if he had just fought a fierce battle. He slowly exhaled a breath of foul air.
"Ha..."
The breath he released turned into white mist in the air, as if the temperature here had dropped to a terrifying degree.
Meanwhile, the enchanting laughter continued to echo in Chu Donglin's ears, just on the other side of the wall.
Rustle—rustle—
A sound like something scraping against the surface reached his ears, followed by something dropping down gently onto his neck, causing a slight itch.
It was soft and fine, almost like hair...
“Hehehe…”
A strange, light laughter echoed nearby.
Chu Donglin took a deep breath, ignoring the odd sensation at his neck. He raised his right hand and struck the brick wall in front of him.
Boom—
With a loud crash, immense force shattered the cement wall instantly.
Rumbling—
Amidst the piercing noise, the cement wall before Chu Donglin was reduced to fragments, countless broken bricks flying outwards.
Then, through the large hole in the wall, Chu Donglin stepped through and beheld the scene behind it.
What he saw was…
Upon realizing what lay before him, a look of astonishment spread across Chu Donglin's face. (To be continued…)
