Knock, knock, knock—knock, knock, knock—knock, knock, knock—
Amid the urgent knocking, the girl's cries echoed from outside the door.
"Sister Qingya, please open the door! Keara is dying! You have to come save her!"
The girl's pitiful wails tugged at the heartstrings, but the words that mirrored those from her dream sent a chill down Ban Qingya's spine.
She furrowed her brow and instinctively took a step back.
If it were an ordinary woman facing such a bizarre situation, she would likely have fled in terror long ago.
However, Ban Qingya, who managed the vast camp with precision and earned everyone's respect, was not one to be easily rattled by mere oddities.
Frowning, she stared at the door and calmly asked, "Ling'er, is that you? What exactly happened? What’s wrong with Keara?"
Ling'er's cries came through the door. "That monster... Pan Dayou has turned into a monster! He killed everyone! Keara and I were ambushed by him and almost died. Keara got stabbed in the chest while trying to save me and is bleeding a lot... Sister Qingya, please use the intercom to call Donglin Brother for help. We can't fight that monster!"
Ban Qingya paused for a moment, instinctively wanting to open the door. But then she remembered something and halted her hand on the doorknob.
"Ling'er, can you still summon lightning?"
"Uh... I can still do that. Sister Qingya, is there a problem?"
Ban Qingya sighed in relief and leaned closer to the peephole, peering into the dark corridor outside. "As long as you can control it... Can you summon a bolt of lightning for me to see? Right now. Just for a moment."
The next second, a loud crack echoed from outside, followed by a flash of white mixed with blue light illuminating the dark corridor.
Through the peephole in the door, Ban Qingya saw a blood-soaked girl crying as she held another girl, a sight she had never witnessed before.
Without hesitation, Ban Qingya stepped back and quickly opened the door to let the girl in.
"Come in! Let me see Keara's injuries."
As Ling'er rushed into the room, cradling the unconscious Keara, Ban Qingya swiftly closed the door behind them and locked it.
Only then did she turn to look at the living room, where the usually mischievous Ling'er stood there in a daze under the cold moonlight.
In her arms lay the unconscious Keara. The normally quiet younger sister now had her eyes tightly shut, her delicate hands hanging limply, devoid of any previous liveliness, as if she had lost all vitality.
It was only in moments like this that Ling'er truly appeared as fragile as her age suggested, seeming as if a gust of wind could knock her over.
On Keara's chest was a gruesome wound, blood gushing out continuously, a horrifying sight.
Ling'er cried with a dirty face, streaked with tears and blood, her dress stained as well. The playful charm she usually exuded was nowhere to be seen. She looked like a forsaken orphan, lost and heartbroken, appearing exceptionally pitiful.
There was no longer any trace of her former decisiveness or endless pranks on her face.
Now, she was just a girl holding her dying sister, weeping and feeling utterly lost, incredibly fragile.
"Sister Qingya, please... please save Keara! Wuwuwu... I don’t want her to die. Ling'er only has her left as family. I really don’t want her to die... Wuwuwu..."
Ban Qingya quickly rushed to her side and reached out to take Keara into her arms.
"Let me see her injuries."
Ban Qingya gently lifted the girl Keara from Ling'er’s arms and carefully placed her on the coffee table.
“Quickly use the intercom to notify Mr. Chu Donglin and ask him to come help.”
After speaking to the dazed girl beside her, Ban Qingya bent down and retrieved the first aid kit from beneath the coffee table.
She skillfully opened the kit, organizing the bandages and medications. After putting on gloves, she looked at the unconscious girl on the table, taking a deep breath.
On the girl's chest was a horrifying wound, as if pierced by a thick Steel Pipe, leaving a cylindrical gash.
The wound penetrated her abdomen, revealing writhing and twitching flesh inside. Even in her unconscious state, the girl appeared to be in great pain, her brows tightly knitted together, beads of sweat covering her face and forehead.
Such a terrifying injury was challenging for Ban Qingya. She prepared hemostatic medication and bandages, but just as she was about to start dressing the wound, Ling'er suddenly rushed out.
“Sister Qingya… it’s bad…”
The girl's face was filled with terror. “Sister Xin'er and Big Brother are not at home; it seems they went out…”
Ban Qingya paused for a moment. “Where could Mr. Chu Donglin go at this hour?”
Ling'er was completely lost, holding the intercom in the living room while glancing at her dying sister and then at the night sky outside, crying sorrowfully.
“Waaah… we’re really doomed now! Big Brother isn’t here; that monster will definitely catch up and eat us! Ling'er can’t fight it… Waaah… Sister Qingya, what are we going to do?”
As the girl cried out in despair, Ban Qingya furrowed her brows tightly.
She looked towards the balcony. “Where is everyone? Is everyone else okay?”
The girl cried inconsolably, wiping her tears as she sobbed, "Wah wah wah... Everyone is dead, all of them... Wah wah wah wah... When that monster attacked us, it had already killed everyone. Now only we are left alive... Wah wah wah wah... That monster definitely won't let us go, Sister Qingya, what should we do?"
Ban Qingya furrowed her brows tightly. Although she had doubts about the girl's words, she didn't linger on the issue.
As she skillfully and steadily bandaged the unconscious girl Keara to stop the bleeding, she spoke up to gather more information about the monster from Ling'er.
"Is that monster transformed by Mr. Pan Dayou? What exactly happened? Is that monster very powerful? What does it look like?"
Ling'er opened her mouth, ready to speak.
Suddenly...
Bang—
A muffled sound echoed as the door was violently struck.
The noise of the door being smashed instantly shattered the night's silence, and from outside came a low growl belonging to the monster.
"Roar... Roar roar!"
Amidst the bloodthirsty roar, it seemed a terrifying creature had arrived outside the door, pounding against it as if preparing to break in. (To be continued...)
